Something I did not expect with these LA episodes is the sense of nostalgia I get from your old school, self-tape, pre-cameraman Felix style shooting. I would love to have you come visit our space next time you come to LaLa Land.

When I first saw the collection of bits and bobs you had collected I had the crazy thought: "she's building a time machine-and it is going to be coin operated!"

How to make Laura feel like at home? Get her a bunch of aluminium boxes. Simple. 😅🥳🤩 I loved the project! 😘

As soon as she showed the timer switch I knew what this was and immediately loved it. As a person with loved ones in many time zones, this melts my heart. ❤️

I do really love the more recent videos with Felix as well, but something about kicking back and seeing Laura just set down a camera and work on a project with some chill music takes me back to the beginning of this channel. It makes it feel even more like a fresh start, even though there are more of us watching this time around. Just bring back record of the week and we'll have come full circle :D

This really hit home. As someone who has a weird visa situation and hasn’t been able to leave the US in 3 years to visit my family back in Europe, the time difference is still the biggest issue with communication. I adore that you solved this so quickly and in such a wonderful way

Ever since you started this mini series I've felt a mix of excitement and anxiety because I know exactly what it means to be torn apart because you can't be in two continents at the same time and having to make that conscious decision to be in one place at the time at the emotional and financial cost of leaving the other place. I know it can be as thrilling as bittersweet. I think it has invited me to live the process with more emotional curiosity and allow myself to slow down, be present in a deeper way and enjoy the process.

I was a Serviceman in the Army and lived in Germany while away from my Family. This is such a beautiful idea. A reminder. A light to show that there's someone thinking about you.

Half the time I don't know what exactly you're doing or why; but I can't stop watching! Brilliant idea Laura 💚

I am really enjoying this series. Watching you learn about the non-tourist sides of Los Angeles, as well as seeing you happy with your L.A. family has been so satisfying. It's also fun learning how you curate a collection of useful items that can be used creatively, when you think outside of their designed function.

This was so poignant. What an absolutely lovely concept for a build. It’s so clear that wherever you take your feet and your hands and your camera, the essential you remains. I think that matters.

I love this almost as much as your riverside bench.

I love the fact that you put out all your little treasures, and it totally looked like what my son would have brought home from a walk when we was 5.

Building things out of found objects is a wonderful MO to have. It's a unique way that you've made Los Angeles your own in just a few weeks.

I love this one! Much as I'm not about to make such a fabulous sculpture, I do think for winter simply setting up a timer plug on a lamp is a really positive action we can all take if we're living away from friends. I'm only 1 hour different from most of my friends but even just having this little glow reminder that they are there, with me in a way, feels a really great thing for the shorter, darker nights spent mostly indoors. Genius! And I really like that in the midst of the busyness of your big building project you have these little escapes for your personal life that also give you space to simply be creative for the sake of practicing and enjoying your natural curiosity, without any 'grown up' outcome to a deadline pushing any of it. A great example to us all that this setup of time-out from the big stuff is something positive we can all find ways to build (no pun intended!) into our lives. Enjoy, and thanks!

Maybe one of your best projects ever!

I watched this video while sitting on a seat on a hill watching the sunset over the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. Had to walk up the hill to get network reception 🤣 The silence of the birds and breeze while reflecting on your journey, pure music to my ears and meditation to my soul.

Okay, this was a really cool episode that showcased just how creative you are. Piecing together all the little odds and ends you found walking throughout the city was so wholesome and clever. Bravo.

i'm not sure what kinds of things are appropriate for a kiddo to be doing in a workshop (obv not welding) but i hope you're able to involve her in some of your projects when you're back in la! there's nothing quite like being small and being allowed to help out with 'grownup things' in the shop, and it's great bonding time as well
