Hello, Laura! My name is Roberta and I lecture in engineering courses in Brazil. Since you'll always have to deal with lots of irregular quadrilaterals, I'd like to give you a measuring tip: if you measure all the sides of the quadrilateral and one diagonal, you can turn the quadrilateral into 2 triangles. The triangle is a very particular geometric figure due to a property called "geometric rigidity": once the dimensions of the sides have been established, the angles will never change. All you have to do is redraw the triangles with the diagonal common to both to recreate the quadrilateral. A very simple way to draw the triangles is to follow these steps: 1) Start by drawing one of their sides, such as the hypotenuse; 2) Draw a circle with a radius equal to the side (e.g. the smaller cathetus) and a center at one of the ends of the hypotenuse; 3) Draw another circle with a radius equal to the other side (e.g. the longer cathetus) and a center at the other end of the hypotenuse. 4) At the point where the two circles intersect you will have the meeting of the two sides. Simply connect this point with each end of the hypotenuse and you will have your triangle drawn. PS. To assemble the quadrilateral, just repeat the process with the other sides on top of the diagonal (in the case of the steps - the hypotenuse). If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to explain better. Greetings and congratulations on the channel!

Nice method, very accurate, but much too complicated for things like this. With a template, your much faster....
@alis49281
@alis49281 Месяц назад
With a template you also make sure to have it fit with the old wood. From experience I know: these are rarely straight lines. The wood bents, twists and shifts over time - even if it was originally straight...
@Wizarth
@Wizarth Месяц назад
I've also heard of using the diagonal length to check for skew or other distortion, particularly when working with welded steel. Less of an issue when you've got a template to reference, but still useful to test that something didn't shift or otherwise warp during the process.

You need to keep the sizes of the openings above the door in keeping with the openings in the angled "windows" for the whole thing to look right. Perhaps a single vertical division splitting the window in half together with the matching horizontal bar. Two larger sections above, two smaller sections below.

I really admire and like that you admit the above door window needs to be redone, and the way you plan to redo it will look amazing. If you want to make these windows look even more awesome, you could double the effort by making duplicates and then fitting two with a gap in-between that can house strong diffused lighting, essentially turning all the windows into inside lighting (with a lot of creative options) but that would be heaps of added effort. I hope too that you find some way to integrate your tiny home into your property eventually.

Great video, love the camera work, Felix. It's funny how often you end up working on your knees, no matter how much bench space you have! 🤣 That sound of satisfaction with the fit, at 17:13, was hilarious! I'd have to continue the horizontal bar across the 3rd window too. I love how the opaque window and black metal frame aesthetic sits with the wooden framework of the house and is both a nod to Mondrian and modern art but also links with old style black timber-framed houses and Huf Haus. I'd be interested to see what the lighf leaks look like once both the hall and bathroom are done; l wonder if they'd look pretty rather than annoying? Laura the pedant in me has to point out that a triangle has 3 sides, not 4 (even though l know why you called them triangle-shaped). Little things. They matter! 🤣 ❤❤
