The thing is that for a certain type of person, and Hank and I are both this type, if you are not doing anything new and exciting, or learning something new or experiencing something new, what even is the point? I feel like doing new things keeps Hank going. It’s good that people kept reminding him not to obligate himself to projects that might become a burden during that time but some people just gotta do a thing.

Unfortunately, the US Taskmaster was garbage. Multiple months in the UK (or NZ) for the good version would be both a heck of a time commitment and a pain with work visas.

I saw Hank perform the show in Syracuse and I belly laughed until tears formed in my eyes. Also, I met him afterwards and he was gracious about my awkwardness. 10/10, go if you can!

As a comedian who loves this art form and has lived/studied it for years, when I first heard you were even doing this, it blowed my mind! I'm in Los Angeles but my social bubble consists of a few immunocompromised elderly relatives and the new COVID variant, RSV and the flu are spiking here... (I'm vaccinated and boosted for COVID and got my flu shot and I still wear a mask in crowded indoor public spaces but not taking chances until spike is over)... So glad it is being recorded!!!!

It seems like just about every time I watch a vlogbrothers video, I am reinvigorated with living life. There’s always something new to challenge yourself with, and achieve, and it’s so cool that we get to decide what we do (with some exceptions/limitations of course but overall). Way to go, Hank. This is awesome.

I mean, I don’t want to minimize how wonderful that I do agree that they are so much as to point out that pretty much everyone has the same potential. It’s just that we don’t all have the time and resources to explore parts of ourselves. Much of human creativity happens during our free time, which John and Hank have purchased for themselves. They also had loving parents at least one of whom is a schoolteacher correct? They were set up for success financially and had loving parents who shaped them into people who would make good choices with their free time. Again, no shade to them-just some perspective. We would do well to recognize the potential in everyone. It could be that the worlds most talented stand-up comedian is living in a developing region, right now, but can’t develop their routine due to the need to work overtime to provide for their family. Or maybe they lost a parent due to maternal mortality or lack of access to cancer drugs. Anyway buy the cancer socks

My wife has taken up comedy this year and the amount of crafting work she puts into it is how you said: you do the work to make it look like it’s not a lot of work. The most surprising and exciting part is seeing her become “an artist” about it without trying to be so lofty. She’s painting her self portrait on stage in ways she doesn’t mean and knowing her very intimately, I feel a stranger seeing her perform would have a better idea what her values, life experience and (duh) humor are like than I got the first few dates we went on.

I was lucky enough to be in Syracuse for your show at the Westcott. The feeling that I got being surrounded by Nerdfighters and seeing you in person was truly one of the greatest feelings of my life. I know that you are just a human, just like me, but being able to be in that sort of space in person after nearly a decade of watching your videos was just magical. I come from a very small town and I was a kid when I started watching and conventions were more of a thing, so I am truly grateful that you chose to come to upstate NY right when I happened to be there for college. Thanks, Hank. 5 stars.

I’m really glad you’re still here to try new things out. I lost my first wife to Hodgkins almost twenty years ago. I was afraid I was going to feel bitter when I saw people who made it through to remission, the lingering specter of how unfair life can be, but thankfully not once have I felt anything but relief and gratitude for survivors I’ve met or know of. I hope you get all the time you need to experience, explore and share with us your knowledge, viewpoints, and seemingly indefatigable passion for all that interests you. Much love brother!

I have to admit that when I read the title, I wasn't sure I wanted to watch this video. I'm really struggling with my health and feeling incapacitated and hearing about other people accomplishing things usually just makes me feel sad and envious in an uncomfortable way. I'm glad I watched it though. It's about you doing something both hard and rewarding while ill (and congrats on the remission!). I know people dealing with illness or disability can get tired of being called inspirational, but I did come away from this feeling inspired. Thank you.

I was at the Buffalo show. It was great and, to me, a very special evening. After following the VBs for 12 years it was definitely a dream come true... and also weird! It was really weird to see someone you've followed virtually for so long in person. If you have the chance GO! You won't regret it.

I was at the buffalo show and I was legitimately very impressed. I think it can be easy for a new comic to lean too hard into trying to get a laugh and end up with a string of loosely connected jokes that don't quite land, but that was never a problem for Hank. The narrative flowed really well (even when Hank forgot which part came next lol) and a ton of the funniest jokes ended up sneaking up on me. There even seemed to be a couple improv bits that were very good as well. I'd highly recommend getting to a show if you can, it was one of the highlights of my year. tldr: the show is totally jokes. Side note I'm soooo happy to hear it's going to be recorded, the first thing I thought when we left was that I wished more of nerdfighteria would be able to see it, so that's super exciting news.

Wish I was still in Missoula to see it:( Bummer you couldn’t get some more locations for it prior to filming it (my biased is now Northern California-reverse Montana experience). Look forward to the special when it’s released! *Also, ironically, if I wasn’t out in Colorado right now doing some military stuff, the Oxnard show would be the one I would go to, but I am having a colonoscopy that I don’t necessarily have the greatest positive feelings for the results. Your recent bouts with cancer motivated to get this done.
