1:10 Have you gone blind? If you look on the minimap that Conqueror is almost a full 45 degrees angled away. He has over 400mm of citadel armour and you don't have improved pen angles! I agree that battleship RNG is a joke but there is no excuse for poor aiming.
I suspect so. In my experience, firing one at a time is much more inconsistent that firing a full salvo purely because they each get their own RNG rolls. It’s certainly not the end of the world, but it’s a noticeable difference imo.
I like to string my shots if the ship is turning, or the player really likes to zig zag a lot. Better to get some damage then to risk an all or nothing.
I'm spending surplus steel needed for this bundle for some of the clan and ranked tokens camos. They are sold for steel only for this update, so can't miss some of the great looking ones. Laura can wait and I rarely play T10 since highest tiers are boring and worse than mid tiers
I feel like this is a coal ship as is and I don’t know how to make it worthy of steel without making it absolutely broken. I feel like reducing the SAP alpha on BBs to somewhere between HE and AP while increasing accuracy would make the Italian BBs fun to play. I’d trade a little damage for actually being able to hit something.

I mean if they are sailing flat broadside they should get devstruck??? It’s not about requiring that the ship be op, it’s about allowing you to punish people for playing objectively poorly. It shouldn’t be ‘op’ for battleships to punish mistakes.
This is what trash players say; if a great player can even make a terrible ship work Or they beat it to work for 15-20 minutes and then get a good result, somehow they think it means the ship isn't awful
I wanted to get the Bourgogne about 5 years ago but my old clan pressured me into getting the Stalingrad which is one of my biggest in game regrets. I was all set to get Bourgogne the next time I had enough steel but then the FDR came along right as I was planning on getting into CV's. After that it was the Austin after I watched a Malteseknight video about it. I almost went for the Gato after that because I thought that's maybe the way the meta is going but decided against it since I find subs incredibly boring to play. This time I almost have enough steel to get the Lauria which I was seriously considering after your first video on it but now I might just get the Bourgogne or hold off until the end of the year to see what else is released since I am more of a DD and cruiser player I'm not in a rush to dole out such a large amount of steel on a BB

I have enough steel and research bureau tokens for another ship from each. After 8 years and the direction this game is heading I probably won't play enough anymore to get enough steel or research tokens for other ships so I will make what I already have now count. Wargaming fucked me the last time I reset the Harugumo line, I ended up with 7,000 less research bureau tokens after the last double reset. I will never give WG another penny after that bullshit
If the extra camo was a special one, or a 'full' MoS package I'd be all over getting it. As it is, though, I'm getting some permas for the other steel ships since I've never ran with a purple clan or had the temper to go through the misery of grinding gold league.
It's not difficult to rack up big damage numbers with SAP. Lepanro and Columbo, with a half decent player, get close to 200k damage more than you might think.
Here's my take in doing the math.. You mentioned how Venezia guns reload quicker and chonk about the same (8k to 20k salvos). Doing the raw math using 40% shell hit rate for Venezia and 31% for Lauria, you actually get a "real" DPM (using full shell alpha times 0.33) at those shell hit rates of 40k per minute on VENEZIA and 26k for LAURIA. math: Venezia alpha of 5850 x 0.33 is 1930 pen dmg. 16 shells avg of which 40% make contact (ignoring ricochet and non pens) is 16 x 0.40 x 1930 = 12352dmg per Salvo. 18.5sec reload means 3.26 salvos per minute so 3.26 x 12352 is 40.6k Actual dpm....so yeah your hesitation on this ship is warranted given the fact that even if you include richochets and non-pens the Lauria still would not deal as much raw dpm as 203mm CA guns.....Also, doing Colombo math (16 shells, 25% hit rate)will also reveal Colombo has a Higher raw dpm (35,000) than Lauria even with its shit dispersion. The hit rate figures are real figures not estimates from actual stats for the main battery.
I find sap to deal more damage on full health ships. I use sap more often in it. The ap gets some really weird bounces or no pens which can be really frustrating. With flags and Brisk she gets up to 40kts which will catch a lot of people off guard.
I almost wonder if the pen issue is a bug because I've noticed it on a lot of my BBs lately. Ships that I used to be able to count on being able to pen simply don't anymore or it seems to be wildly inconsistent. I was playing my Agincourt last night and landed a near max range citadel on a NY, but when I moved closer I was getting shatters and non-pens despite him being flat broadside.
I would LOVE to see a full video on how the pros set up and use their training rooms. There has to be some shortcuts to the massive time suck that is a training room setup. PLEASE!!
Seems like a bit of nitpicking when you are rolling consistent 175k+ matches. I have the Lauria and I am enjoying the ship. Not overpowering, but the damage totals seem consistent. As for the steel cost, I've been playing since 01/15, with an active long-running clan, and I have had steel to burn. So not a big deal as I already have all the other "good" steel ships.
If this ship didn't have Petro-like waterline, troll armor, and stupid concealment people would hate it. The guns are just not very good, but the boat is nearly impossible to punish.
I think they did worth accuracy than thundy because the more you are accurate with SAP the more it's OP. That's also why colombo has no great accuracy because it would allow you to perfectly aim at the superstructure, even into a front target (I'm looking at you Venezia)
PQ your shooting 18 inch SAP and Short-Fused AP and and 26 second reroad, so of course the accuracy is going to be sometimes inconsistent. This ship is NOT supposed to be a thunderer replacement.
Not sure if this is worth getting over something like the Ragnar since that ship will have much better battle impact but at the same time the free line just came out and there is little reason to get the Ragnar now if I want the long range radar dd gameplay still something like incomp probably beats this thing for me in terms of is it worth it
Since this thing was announced i was hoping that she would perform like a Tier X Caracciolo instead of a Pasta Thunderer, and gor what i've seen she's just like that Still, imo the ship does not feel like a Steel worthy boat, maybe a RB because she's more unique, or even a Dockyard Thanks for the review, i still plan on getting it eventually, mostly because she looks so good
When I verse any ship with SAP it’s one of the most annoying things to get shot by. As stated in the video, no matter the angle they still do a good bit of damage. So when trying to run or angle there is not much you can do but hope you can get away or the attack dies.
I remember when the Roma first came out it was thought the Italians would have just really high velocity guns, idk why they reinvented the wheel with em.

Guys, sorry for an offtop question, but how is it possible to play torp dds in this meta? Everyone has radar, hydro, crazy dpm, or combination of those, only paralized people cant dodge torpedoes, subs outspot you and you get killed by either their teammates, or by them, while trying to dodge their teammates' salvoes. You cant fight caps, because there's going to be a Vampire II/Daring/Black/Gdansk/Groningen who will just straight up kill you. Teammates are always playing excessively passive, enemy bbs too, so i cant land any torpedoes before being overrun by OP gun DDs and/or subs.
Wouldnt mind that, feels like thats what they’ve been doing lately, incomp/repulse > RN BC line, Daisen > IJN BC line Ofc the techlines are different than the listed premiums, but they largely have similar playstyle.
I've enjoyed it thus far. It's taking me a bit to get use to the SAP shells, but found myself averaging a little more than a 100k each match with one breaking 200k. She's not beginner friendly for sure. I have a weird thing about using ships that are wonky and getting actually good performance out of them. Anywho, good video none the less PQ. Entire ship is based around 457 Sap. You’re doing like 15k on average every time you fire SAP. For some reason you keep switching to AP, get shit results because Italian AP is dogshit, you conclude ship is bad lol. Try a game where you fire nothing but SAP and do another review.
I'm sticking with the Thunderer comparison. What made that ship so OP was the ability to do easy 10K DMG every salvo every 20 to 25 sec regardless of angle. Lauria looks to be the same
Sitting on a lot of steel and was thinking this may be the next ship. But reviews are just 'meh' at the moment and for me it's not worth what War Gambling is asking for it. Besides, the T10 meta is so boring with everyone hiding behind islands or at the back of the map the entire match; rather play at mid tiers. Thanks for the video though, these reviews help making purchasing decisions.
Considered changing your name to blue line potato? Is there any games where you dont ride the edge line, and you know for sure that throws off the aim mod so as Jungles says, its a scummy move, one you seem to repeat game after game and they are just the ones you show us.
The problem with SAP (IMO) is and always has been that if it disperses into the main belt of your target, odds are its going to shatter. It's not the one-size-fits-all problem solver that HE is, so you really have to manage your ammo choice well for best results. Disappointing to hear that the accuracy isn't there, but also not surprising since WeeGee is terrified of BB SAP.
Really disappointed I cant afford Lauria, shes been a ship I was really excited for, and I just cant get it. Even if its not as good as initially thought, I still really want it. Really hate that WG continues to pull this bs.
this ship is simply not worth it for 36 K of steel. It should be a coal ship. I have it and I havent found anything interesting. Fast, low in water and concealled its good for a travel around the map like an explorer yacht but disapointing fire accuracy, weak aa, shit secondaries and dumb even with Sansonetti is far from being a glass canon flanker and neither a short range brawler. Projectiles need advance and time to travel so Your target can change course and speed but U can fire over some islands. It can appear like a bat from the hell but what is next ... struggle against other bbs, be a sure danger for cruisers and fun outplay for red dds. And yeah U can disappear if not pushed and thats it run and appear again somewhere else like a gost perhaps a surprise fun. Perhaps I dont know how to play it in order to get most of sap and ap but it doesnt matter i spent all of my spare steel and i dont have time for this game after so many (6) years so it is my last steel ship for ever. Yeah, I will take one for coal and perhaps for free exp but thats it. By the way my first five random games in a row were victories, so perhaps someone really interested and dedicated can achieve something more out of it but this is not a ship that can carry it depends on the team play much so play in a division.

What a underwhelming ship, seems they have missed to mark on this one. Good looking ship but that dispersion is awful. What is the point of a game centered on naval gunnery when the guns miss half of the time? Too much RNG baked into the Italian BB line in general to make it worth while to play. I had high hopes for this one but seeing your two videos have me deciding to pass.
