I love that aMSa kept the red motif with Marth. Really looking forward to one day seeing aMSa pull out the Marth in tournament. And also for PPMD to one day possibly return to the competitive scene ;) Love both of these guys, let's go Golden Guardians!

It was interesting to hear PPs take on shield stopping! I've been practicing that tech for months to get those sudden in place auto cancelled nairs outta dash... but as soon as I got to that part of the video I loaded up Unclepunch and yeah, seems like using back drift works pretty well too! Hard to tell at such an early stage of my development which practice is a more efficient use of my time. Big picture the shield stopping has more points of failure, but I happen to be better at it presently. I suppose using the drift instead is ultimately more elegant and faster even if it requires more finesse from my left thumb than I'm used to. Lord knows my left thumb could use some attention- I feel like I'm squandering a vital source of Marth Magic

yeah shield stopping is always a minimum of 1 frame slower. still a lot of players use it, most notably hax if i remember correctly

Picking Marth for players like Moky and Cody is a bold move considering they usually go toe to toe with Zain. If Amsa can implement Kodorin's approach he can do wonders tho

Zain has won the last 6 sets against Moky and Cody is basically the best player vs marth in the world right now, the alternative of falco isn’t great looking either considering you’d have to get to a mango level of falco

Whoa I just watched a Kodorin Marth tutorial he released recently.. He was saying 'never double down tilt as Marth" and he gave an argument for why it's never good, but around 8:30 PP lists double downtilt as a viable option! Is PP joking or is Kodorin actively deceitful or maybe just it's matchup specific so can either way? Hard question to know the answer to I guess

ah I see like at top level double down tilt is losing EV but if you integrate over the whole population it is positive EV since people will blunder the response -actually if that is true then I 100% get it now - I think that is right

It depends on the matchup, but I personally find double Dtilt to be especially useful in the Marth ditto, among other places. The reason for this option being useful is because Marths usually dash back after it, meaning opponents want to take stage. Double Dtilt catches this and forces respect(or attempting a read to punish) on the first Dtilt. However, Kodorin likely says never double Dtilt probably because of how common running in to CC Dtilt can be these days. It would be very punishable if called out. But in certain matchups or under certain conditioning, or if you just tipper it, then it would still be fine. Double Dtilt is not something to spam and outside of the ditto probably isn't a staple option, but I don't personally agree with the saying "never double Dtilt." It's good to have a variety of perspectives in Melee and this is just another good changeup!
