I've seen this time and time again on a lot of the HVAC videos on RU-vid. Not just yours so please don't think I'm singling you out. Been in the trade for over 35 yrs. Retired now. I pushed a contactor in earlier in my career with my finger...it exploded, luckily I wasn't injured. Never, never push a contactor in with your finger. Use a meter lead and keep your face away. I enjoy your videos!

Yep, Especially be careful pushing in a contactor on a Big Compressor. about 25 years ago i pushed in a contactor on a 20Hp , 3 Phase 480 volt contactor, Luckily with a Big Screwdriver. Contactor made a Big Bang & i nearly Crapped My Shorts. That Was the Last time i ever pushed in a Contactor for a Long While. Made Me alot more cautious. i Definately don't use my finger anymore & Don't push in a Contactor anything bigger than 5hp. and stand aside while doing it. Keep your face away !!! Wear Safety glasses !!!

Retired.37 yrs.,I would not have added any gas without looking at the filter. A dirty filter can affect what your pressures are.

If it wasn't low and just a dirty filter I think the suction temp would have been much lower than 73. But I always think checking the filter first is important

Superheat is high when it's low on gas. Superheat is low when it's a dirty filter.

I worked in maintenance for a hotel system for 32 years. I had the same policy, kids home alone, no go in, even if invited. NO WAY, NO CAN DO, unless accompanied by a housekeeper, who are usually too busy to take the time.

I like your professionalism of not going in when only a minor is present. We live in a difficult risky world and you have to take your precautions. I enjoy and watch all your videos, just remember safety first while working around electricity (pressing contactor with fingers), better be safe than sorry.

Works fine, R438a is designed as a “drop in” refrigerant and works fine with the mineral oil (MO) Similar pressure characteristics and a fraction of the price of R22 Used it countless times over the years with no issues

A lot of techs top off r22 which eventually causes leaks because each refrigerant has it's on pressure.

@@jasonburn2424 mostly ive only ever reclaimed, found and fixed any leak or added sealant and recharged with 438A There comes a point where a bandaid solution isnt warranted thats for sure, but if we can offer a cheaper alternative than r22 or even having to replace the equipment id rather keep my clients comfortable (even if its to get them through the season)

hello, ive been watching a little while. just got into the trade and i have a question for you if you dont mind answering. how do you connect your smart probes (pressure) without discharging any refergerant. ive connected mine a couple times and almost froze some fingers.

Don't push on the probe while you screw it on. On most you can change the depth of the of the part the pushes in the Schrader, yours maybe sticking out too far. Just my two cents and that's about all it's worth but might help you. Good luck to you in the future.
