Filipino here I have some questions Do you live here in Philippines or you're im france right now? If you're in france or somewhere else, how do you get the sinigang mix? I doubt theres some in supermarkets
@@weebman9762 hi kumusta ka ? I'm French with filipina wife and we live in Paris. We can find sinigang mix in Asian store. ( actually there are some pinoys store but there are those big Chinese store where you Can find a lot of stuff .its called "Tang frères")
He promotes Filipino food culture well. It's not offensive because it is based on his food culture experience and he has a deep regard for Filipino food.
Actually, the way I learned to cook sinigang was back in the days when I was a kid in the province. The powder sinigang wasn't used then. The traditional way of making it is through crushing actual tamarinds, or using kamias, guava, or green mango.
@@jerrydumanig3202 depende na lang yan kung paano ka lumaki. Ako mula pagkabata nilalagay ko yung kanin sa sabaw. Basta mahalaga magkasama yung kanin at sabaw.
Mr. Bulbul. I am 11 years old and I started cooking since 9. Try the sinigang powder Tamarind & Gabi in one. It has a purple strip from the same brand. If you can't find that, use "Sinigang sa Sampalok & Sinigang sa Gabi" together, I also like to sautee white onions and lots of tomatoes first. I boil the pork in a separate pot and skim. I'd put them in the same pot where I sauteed once done skimming, some fish sauce and sometimes I add knorr beef cubes even if I'm using pork meat hahahaha. :) Mashed gabi is optional but amazing. Really the simplest way of doing it.
Pinoys are just difficult to please. When they hear truth, they get offended but often, never learn from it. Been watching your videos Mr Bulbul but never commented. This time, thanks for promoting SINIGANG as a must try for foreigners or tourists coming to the Philippines! Keep making videos!
not all filipino's are difficult to please, many of us are just happy that people outside the philippines love our food. many of our dishes dont have strict ingredients to follow, since the dishes themselves were born from over 500 years of experimentation history (more if we include native dishes from before the spaniards), even adobo (one of the simplest dishes in filipino cuisine) can be made in so many different ways, with different kinds of meat, vinegar, or add vegetables (some traditionalists consider this heresy but potato and carrots are hard to deny), and even stuff like paprika (since the dish 16th century spain mistook adobo for used lots of paprika). filipino traditionalists right now (probably) : burn the heretic! wh40k subreddit right now (probably) : i declare exterminatus!! the emperor protects!! (yes warhammer 40k culture is in the philippines too, even though with all due respect, 99.99% of us cant hope to afford its more... lavish pursuits...)
If you want it to look red just add more tomatoes..tomatoes also add to the sourness of the soup that's why tomatoes are one of the most essential ingredients of a sinigang 😉
SO NICE! I EXPERIENCED THE SAME WITH SINIGANG...AT FIRST I HAD TO GET USED TO THE TASTE BUT AFTER SEVERAL TIMES I AM REALLY CRAVING FOR IT. NOW ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITES 😊
i love sinigang. may father cooks sinigang perfectly. My favorite is when he uses bayabas(guava) or santol(cotton fruit) instead of the classic tamarind(sampaloc), he also uses green mangoes.
I love mr. Bulbul cook and eat videos. No exaggerated reaction, just pure appreciation. Keep 'em cook and eat videos coming mr. bulbul. I also prefer cooking with bone cuts because it does make the soup more flavorful.
I'm Filipino and we really don't like hot spicy food, like Kimchi but I heard that it's good for you. First time I tried it, my mouth was burning and did not like it at all. Second try, I ate it with rice and it wasn't so bad. Now, I love it and I made sure I never ran out of it.
As a Filipino I am honored for another citizen of south South Korea got hooked by our Sinigang! I love watching your videos Mr. Bulbul you always try our delicacies! Stay safe! ❤🤗
9:19 We do that too! XD Especially with tinola and bulalo. You just don't see it in restaurants as much because the bowls are not usually served individually and people are conscious about "western manners". But at home, we totally eat like that with soup and rice. It's like lugaw almost.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT MR. BULBUL IS HE IS SO LEGIT ABOUT HIS OPINIONS,OBSERVATION,APPRECIATION, NO SUGAR COAT UNLIKE OTHER FILIPINO EGO FEEDING RU-vidRS.,SALUTE MR. BULBUL YOUR THE MAN
On the Philippines there is this fruit that is called "guyabano" its a fruit that is sweet yet sour .it can be used for sinigang just cut them and remove the seed.
Mr. Bulbul ... Before(Taste test Video): "Sinigang is salty" This video: "I crave sinigang, so I made it" No hate. I'm a fan. ☺️💕 Now I'm craving too. 😩🤸♀️
and yes its the most original sinigang using the backbones for sinigang with a bit of meat for its more tasty. what you did is the most original method of sinigang when it comes to using bones
When I discovered that I got 6% Filipino blood in me, access to Philippines food was my very first experience with my unkniwn heritage. Sinigang, adobo, pancit and other delicious food from the Philippines.
I like your videos Mr. BulBul it's the first day that I watched your videos, it's all started when your video Mukbang Filipino food poped up then I watched it and I watch more of your videos, I really admire your wife Mrs. BulBul for being so caring and a loving wife to you, that is just how Filipino show their love, with all the SUPPORT. God Speed and please don't stop making videos, I enjoyed it very much. Greetings from Philippines!
My daughter when she was younger, she also liked to dip her finger in to the sinigang mix and then licked her finger. To probe it, no wonder, it did taste like the Filipino snack/delicacy Tamarind w/ (or w/o) seeds coated with salt and sugar!
You should try "Cansi" from Negros island its like a combination of Sinigang and Bulalo a dish famous in Visayas(middle part of the PH) I think youll love it too.
Tamarind is not actually fundamental. It's just the most common souring ingredient. Other versions of sinigang use other sour fruits. Even green mangoes!
It's funny to hear about what he said "too much water"😂 I remember that also when I used to cook sinigang I used vinegar and calamansi to get more soury taste😂😂 and it turns out to "usika maypag wa butngi"😂😂
You should put first the tomato and onion while boiling so that its get red and taste and you put to much water mister bulbul if ever you try it again😊i am a filipino thanks for loving our foods
I cook this from time to time, and now my Korean husband is also in love with it!! He actually likes sinigang more than adobo, which is the most popular filipino dish.
first time I've seen using radish on sinigang. instead of radish we're using gabi to make the soup a bit thicker. nonetheless, you're right most korean who are in PH don't like sinigang at first then eventually its their favourite after some tries. keep it up! more cooking video during quarantine 👌
Leo I’ve tried both styles, the watery w/ Radish he did, and the thick w/ Gabi one you’re referring to. The texture is all for preference, but since I really love sour foods, any style is great! 🤣
You can literally can put any veggie in sinigang you like. tasty sinigang is good sinigang. I tried kimchi and sinigang. Made my mouth water too much because of the spice and acidity. Sign that is very tasty sinigang.
I'm Filipino by birth but did not have a chance to learn to cook my favorite Filipino foods. When I craved Filipino foods I just go to Filipino restaurants in USA. Now with Covid-19 and lockdown I have to learn to cook by watching you tube channel such as yours. Thanks
9:20 i do that when i have left over rice on the cooker and have so many soup left on my bowl, but i usually put the soup on rice. we even make so much "SINIGANG" just to refrigerate and reheat it another day so that we can have some more
Hey there Mr. BulBul just a quick tip on cooking sinigang for you to have that red soup boil the pork, onions and tomatoes (more tomatoes much better) together until pork is soft then you can add other ingredients. I promise you'll get that filipino taste ;)
You cooked that sinigang like my wife cooks. Sour enough that makes your eyes close for a few minutes and I have to eat with my eyes closed. Thanks for the video.
I see a bottle of Red Horse in the background. 😁 First time to see someone eat sinigang with a chopsticks. Now, I am craving for sinigang and it is 10:26 PM here in the Philippines.
When I was in Philippines, I ran out of Kang Kong then I used a lot of Kimchi which making the Sinigang more sour. I recommend it to use Kimchi. It taste like Kimchi soup
The oddest moment when eating sinigang: GOOD GOD ITS LIKE THE VINEGAR AND TAMARIND MADE AN UNHOLY SOUP THAT CLUNG TO THE INGREDIENTS... AND HOW I LOVE IT SO
I try not to include pork in my diet but I can never resist pork sinigang. It is super delicious especially with tender pork ribs, just the right sourness and plenty of vegetables!
I remember kamoteQ. School year outside the gate, one of the vendor sells it. It's been 33 yrs since I had one. I also love turon and it's the easiest snack to make.
I always hear it when other asians try sinigang or adobo, they say that it is somewhat similar to what they ate,but there is actually a difference, adobo and sinigang are very versatile, you can use what ever main ingredient you want to use,you can use fish, pork, chicken or whatever you want
I tried both sinigang and tom yum goong (from a That restaurant in the PH). My observation is that the latter has more herbs, lemongrass is also present. I’m suddenly craving sinigang. Some provinces put other sour ingredients in sinigang. I tried a strawberry sinigang in Baguio. There is also a tomato based sinigang which I didn’t expect to like. There’s also sinigang made with bayabas and santol. Also. I agree that pork bones give it more flavor. My dad used to buy the pig head/bony parts which still has some meat when he wants to make sinigang. He likes the meat from the eye.
Yes, definitely you’ll crave for it because when you think of sinigang, your tongue will remember the sour taste. 😂😂 That’s me, most of the time. Drooling not just sinigang but the green mango as well 🤣
I’m Filipino and I have a couple pointers here from an experienced sinigang eater. Pork bones are great but you should try beef short ribs, also I know you mentioned it but yea you’re suppose to put the broth on top of the rice with the veggies and everything else, last but not least instead of adding fish sauce during the cooking process try putting a table spoon of it in a saucer with juice from half a lemon mixed in
Mr.bulbul try cebuano dish nilat-ang native manok buo at isali ang balunbalunan, atay,at ang dugo ng manok. Ang dugo lagyan ng bigas just sprinkle and salt. You really did it, kumain talaga ka ulit ng sinigang Mr. Bulbul haha, there are also sinigang sa milkfish at sinampalukang manok you should try them some time. Anyway I got hungry, again.
Damn that sinigang that is the wierdest and oddly satisfying food I ate when im in PH. 😍 why I do this to myself in the middle of the night watching food stuffs 😑
As soon as I saw the pot I immediately thought "too much water". You could've boiled it more to lessen the water. Good job though. Still looked delicious.
@@krytzapura3252 ano nmn unreasonable don?? Nasa karinderya ba yan? Lutong bahay lang diba. Kaya dinadamihan sa mga kainan ung sabaw kse lahat binibigyan nila libreng sabaw. Eepal epal ka wala naman kabuluhan pinag sasabi mo. Duuuhhhh. Inamo.
Yep I agree... The Packet makes 2 litres, so the taste will be too diluted. He will not get that sour taste sinigang is known for. Probably needs 2 more packets.. Then Bagoong..
Sinigang is much better to eat while Raining While zipping the soup alone While raining it's feels really good Trust me it's insane it's like on heaven ("Filipino ako GG")
A healthy food and now I'm craving this midnight hahaha try it with sawsawan fish sauce (patis) kalamansi and sili labuyo(chilli) dip pork (with fats are more enjoyable) its really good.
