Don't ask me. I'm from NY, we never got why anyone would find anything attractive about t. But to still be undecided after living through 4 excruciating years of t says it all. Where's that head of lettuce that beat Liz Truss?
Trump is a New Yorker. He owned half your politicians. You are the folks who voted in Giuliani add think it is awesome that cops can't stop at frisk people for the crime of being Brown
I'm from Texas and must say how much I enjoy listening to James O'Brien. I quite enjoy his older interviews where he puts up a mirror so that people are confronted with themselves and they hate the image they see. January 6th puts former President Donald Trump into the "must never be in public office again" category. I'm 38 and have voted for Republicans and Democrats, some enthusiastically. But the Republicans have completely left reality. Kicking out the moderates, that are mostly straight voting Republicans, for the crazies.
I am :) still fineeeee, so is everyone I know, as do the research papers on the matter. Hope you don't get sick and die because of some russian/chinese propaganda
@andrew66862 I'm frequently reminded of Tommy Lee Jones from Men in Black "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it." When you can just talk to one person, similarities shine much brighter than differences. It's also important to remember thst you aren't capable of changing someone's mind. They have to do that within themselves, sometimes with a seed or two you may have planted in their minds.

The old"Israel is a democracy " chestnut. Apartheid South Africa was a democracy, The US during slavery and later, segregation was a democracy, and Britain during the days of colonialism was a democracy. So what??????
So what? It means the democratic process and the voice of the people can play a significant part in shaping a country's actions and attitudes. Democracies are historically far more likely to adapt to change over time. For instance, South Africa no longer has Apartheid, the US no longer has slavery and Britain is no longer a colonial power. Israel can adapt and change to accept the presence of an independent Palestinian state.
@@CountScarlioni Democracy may permit change but the change may or may not be for the better. It seems to me we should judge countries on their actions, not on the method by which they decide on those actions.
@@iandall9570 Democracies always leave open the chance that the people can change the course of their nation. If they didn't there'd be no point to them. No change is guaranteed for the better, and democracies can fail (as we've witnessed in Russia). I've never heard of a better system of government though and if you know one then please do tell us! In South Africa and Northern Ireland, democracy did finally win out. The trouble with Israeli and Palestine of course is the repeated cycles of false dawns and I've lived long enough to see a few of those. All I'm sure of right now is that Netanyahu and his cronies have got to go. Nothing can improve whilst he remains in office.
Great campaign slogan for a losing camp aign . You can keep shouting Zach as Trump becomes the next president for you can realize it is time for guided to step aside. Politics aside he is not competent. The other guy is worse as a rationale to vote for a party has led us to this point
Then still the question would be: Which Palestine ? The terrorist Hamas one ? The corrupt Abbas one, which even the palestinian people don't believe in anymore? At the moment it would just be another unstable state in an unstable region with too many players on the field on both sides of the aisle, that feed off on that unstable situation. Getting rid of Netanyahu by voting him out may help some, but I'm not too optimistic even if.
@PityOnlyFools moreso on the food and medicine side of things rather than arms. A starving, desperate people is more primed to be radicalized. Keeping that form of aid from Gazans may only strengthen Hamas
Even after the atrocities of world war 2, Germany and France came together, agreed that war is never the solution and that the next war would annihilate Europe, and formed (the first version of) the EU, even after what Germany did to the French just a few years before. However, I'm afraid that something similar is very difficult to achieve with the Palestinians and Israel.
Jonathan Ashworth lost touch with his constituents and this was widely felt in Leicester South. He did very little to abate that sentiment and paid the price. That’s democracy. Elected to serve the people and not self interest.
We used to get rice pudding at boarding school. It was grey sludge with Sultanas in it. For a change we also got bread pudding. Ive never eaten it since but would do so if it stopped Trump getting a second term.
Tooo funny--when the whole Biden thing came up, I told my wife " it doesn't matter, I'd vote for a baked potato before I'd vote for Trump...: Looks like the race now is between my baked potato and James rice pudding. Now sure how to campaign for my potato however......
Who you would vote for is irrelevant. What is relevant is who squeak voters would vote for. Trump was somehow leading in polls before the debates. What do you think they look like now. Is Joe Biden s ego at the status quo of the DNC more important than democracy
@charlesreid9337 you see Charles that's the problem. Some people focus more on the theater than the performance. If you just put up blind resumes of legislative accomplishments as President, President Joe Biden has outperformed most Presidents, and of the 46 he's somewhere in the top 15-5 range, depending on how you value the impact of the actions. I really do think people see that more than you'd think. Maybe not enough voter turnout to flip Texas, but boy I hope my country is wiser now than to give than man responsible for January 6th another shot at it.
Him together with Vice President Trump would do exceptionally well to help the president of Ukraine, Putin. In his own country, he’ll definitely will be able to beat MediCare. 🤫 🤡
The US election is about three states: Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, ignore the other 47. Worse than that, it's only about certain areas in these states. The margins in these states in 2016 was this: Michigan: 10,704 votes Pennsylvania: 44,292 votes Wisconsin: 22,748 votes That's the margin Trump won by. This is what it takes to win the US election. Forget about everything else, go to these states, see who they want and give them that, no matter who it is. It could be Jeffrey Dahmer, give them who they want. Lastly, they don't care about the next four years, only the election. Approach it like a penalty shoot out.
But the dems won all three in 2020,must be a maga because you omitted the important info,Republicans lost these states in the midterms of 2018 and 2022'Also Dobbs ,And roe as well not being allowed to go to another state to get an abortion ,the loss of ivf and the abortion pill as well as and contraception as well, will definitely get women out to take their rights back especially younger women who now have fewer rights than their mothers and even grandmothers!
The argument at 20min is why it is difficult. Because people are arguing semantics. Don't Palestine to Ukraine. Like she says its too far away and people can't relate. Relate Palestine to Ireland and the UK. Imagine if Thatcher had bulldozed Dublin or Belfast to get Gerry Adams? The US would have smashed us to bits.
42:05 Tarnaploski highlights many chilling facts from Israel, what still baffles me is why there isnt more uprising against netanyahu government.. Are the citizens of Israel so severely docile!
No that guys point about prosecution of those commuting crimes was the same as those going to fight abroad. He’s talking about the total hypocrisy - real shame this wasn’t properly understood
I wish people would stop using the phrase 'women and children' as if killing a woman or a child is any worse than killing a man. It manages to be sexist against men and woman at the same time and put a preposterous value on the life of a child.
I value my child's life much more than my own. It is one of the most natural things to feel a sense of paternalism towards children in general. Maybe there are differences by culture and or religion but my view is as stated.
@@welliamd2463 You are ignoring the second part and therefore missing my point. I began my comment with that to indicate the origins of paternalism / maternalism, beginning with one's own children. The main point is those natural feelings extend to children in general, very much as happens amongst social groups in the animal world.
@@sugarplumk2381 Waffling O'brien has spoken to many people from both sides, people with far more knowledge, evidence and experience on the ground in Israel/Palestine. With all the knowledge he's acquired he still sits on the fence on this conflict. There is a blatant disparity between how alledged Russians attacks are portrayed in the media and government and how Israel war crimes are never called out, instead it's often _an investigation is required._ When has it ever been plausible that the criminal investigates their own crime. Also Waffling O'brien said multiple times that whatever Kier or Sunak says will not make a difference. This is such an ignorant comment..
All across the world, countries are announcing palestine is a recognised state that should govern itself. Has the Uk govt recognised the state of Palestinians yet???
As one of the architects of the mess that has been created in the state of Israel, I think we Brits should just stay out of this. Yes it is appropriate to voice dismay at the situation as it develops, but no we have no say. Like him or loathe him, Netanyahu is the democratically elected leader of Israel. The Israeli people voted him into office. If they don't want him or don't think he has their best interests at heart, they will let him know. No British government should ever be so paternalistic that they feel empowered to tell another goverment what they must do. We need to drop that mind-set.
It's the other way around: the Brits helped create this mess, so they should be the first to try to fix it. I don't know how, but creating a mess and then pulling your hands off is not the correct thing to do.
@@janickpauwels3792 Sadly I have to disagree. I had dinner with an Israeli friend visiting for a few days last week. When I said to her the British created this mess, she replied "don't get me started on that, they need to back off. The Brits are the last people we would listen to". There's a lot of resentment towards us there that most Brits don't understand. There's a lot of history there that leaves us morally compromised.
Well I'm stunned O'Brien's not a Trump, Farage, Israel, Tory fan or anyone on the right. Literally stunned. Be saying he's not a Brexiteer next. Ohh dear...
Maybe that head of lettuce that Liz Truss lost to is available. Oh wait I don't think that lettuce was born in America--Trump would refuse to run against it..............
How about Bibi offers to take the place of the hostages, theyre freed then if the palastinies from the west bank without held with outcharge are released in a swap for bibi
Thank goodness someone in the production room is thinking of us poor RU-vid viewers. I, for one, was not on board with Mystery Hour this week UNTIL that tennis ball made an appearance!
I am just hoping for the Vice president candidates in the us election. Both Biden and Trump look closer to a casket than an office chair. Who ever wins, I hope democrat, but in the end I do not believe either of them will pull a full term.
So tell me this, if there own negotiation team is saying he’s causing deliberate problems, then it’s time the international community came together and started asking hard questions of the top man in Israel, also WHY aren’t international observers being allowed in something that again the international community can force
There are 2 fixed number of voter pools in US Politics atm. 1 is voting for Trump, 1 is voting against Trump. And for is slightly more than against. The difference is the not so fixed Apathy vote. The "there all as bad as each other" vote. Its the reason team Trump gerry manders & vote supresses regularly because they only seek to lose by more people voting
Labour candidate who lost is gaslighting and gleefully calling the winner impotent, obviously doesn't care about people in the electorate who voted against the bullies he supports
The thing that people forget when the Biden deterioration thing is talked about is that Trump himself has had hundreds of these moments when his mental decline has been on display, everyone is acting like he wasn’t campaigning against President Obama a couple of months ago when he forgot who the president was.
Are we not over estimating the UK's influence in the world? Only the US have any chance of stopping netanyahu but it doesn't seem that he cares about anything but saving his own skin
Why people in the Uk thought that British PM has any influence on Gaza or any other parts of the world. UK is no longer a big empire. It's a small island country. Not even has a proper size of military to project any power to any other part of the world. It's a paper tiger only. Wake up. Just fix the internal issues first then you might have some spare energy to do something.
i watch james most on lbc. its a shame ian dale's understand of geo politics is so bad it makes me want to unsubscribe. interested to see how james covers trump after the incident
we need to be clear that a " 2 state solution" may be fair if it is from the river to the sea but unfortunately it generally refers to a section of the west bank and gaza. Please be clear that 7 Oct was a response to decades of repression and dispossession of Palestinians following the 'oslo" decision.
