Feel like this man was psychologically tortured by the CIA until he was driven to insanity to keep his secrets hidden but he is still trying his best to get them into the public, as convoluted at they may be. That's a great plot for a book, tbh.

Thank you for being kind to Gare. My previous downstairs neighbour was obviously having some very serious mental health problems. Lost touch with reality and trashed his apartment on the regular. It made my life utter hell for three years, but I understood. If you're screaming about aliens and nonexistent meth labs and making noises that sound like Rick Flair trying to bark like a dog while trashing your apartment for three days straight your brain is shitting the bed. It feels real, but you need to get that shit dealt with. Luckily the police here were on board with trying to get him needed treatment and support and did what they could to help. Unfortunately he got bad enough that he was arrested for threatening apartment staff with a weapon and was then evicted. Thankfully he'll be eligible for more intensive treatment through a mental health org program because of this arrest. Gare and my old neighbour both need our compassion and access to appropriate treatment.

As a father of 32,000 kids myself I don't know how Gary does it.

I answered the phone for my police department for about two years and I've spoken to probably three or four people with problems like this. Really eye opening to the tragedies of mental illness. One of them actually got so frustrated with our inability to do anything (it's not a crime to be mentally ill or to be an imaginary conspirator) she self-admitted to a psych facility and got on some meds. Haven't heard from her in months. Hope she's doing all right. Another was just recently arrested for calling 911 for a non-emergency after a Sgt told her she needed to stop calling the command office. Needless to say, he made her "conspirators" list as did the officer who arrested her (who is actually venerated as one of the easiest-going officers we've got). Good times. When they called I would just sit and listen and type out the more wild things they had to say in case we needed to make a case for an involuntary hospital admission (we've not had to as no one has made any threats of violence). Sad that there's so little to be done for these folks and sad that our mental health professionals are so overburdened.

Good job hanging in there for the long haul AC ! I once knew a schizophrenic guy, but only saw him about once a month for a couple of years. For a long time it seemed like he just spouted nonsense, until one day I realized he had several seperate sentences going in his head at the same time. He would go through part of 10-15 different sentences before picking up where he left off with the first one and continuing through the rest. To understand him a person had to keep track of the sentences, and even then he had some ideas that were around the bend. Seeing how long it took me to break his "code" I really sympathized with him because of the struggle he must have had just trying to communicate the simplest of conversations, much less trying to do a job interview or something harder.

It is my professional opinion (as a mechanic) that Gary's got more than a few loose screws. He should probably stop by his local shop to at least get SOME of them re-tightened.

From personal experience, I recognized the way that AC responded to this. From his body language to the way he addressed Gary. He has handled these kinds of calls on the street. Mental Health issues are becoming increasingly more and more common in Law Enforcement. The VAST majority of these individuals are seeing and experiencing things differently than the rest of the world, and are simply trying to move about in their day to day lives in a society that is very ill equipped in working with them. Acceptance is always the first step. Though never participate in or verify anything delusional they may be experiencing, much of the time we need to accept these people for who they are and understand what they are going through. This is one of those videos that may deviate from your usual comedic content, but it was a very much needed one that brought everyone back down to earth and realized how we are all human. I applaud your actions and attitude AC. Good Job and great work!

Some people will say Gary's not in touch with reality, but I think it's obvious that Gary's actually in touch with several realities.

People with schizophrenia are frequently taken advantage of and it's very sad. For whatever reason when someone approaches them with malicious intent they are happy to go along with it but as soon as you try to help them you become the bad guy. Gary in this state reminds me of my daughter heavily in the delusions but just before the mania kicks in hard and the psychosis sets in. Thanks for not making fun of Gary A.C and spending a few moments on what's really going on.

I was a police dispatcher and handled a lot of callers like Gary. People transporting themselves in and out of closets. Dwarves on the roof disconnecting the TV antenna. Bacteria in the white lines on the road that can shut off your car. Some of my coworkers hated these calls. I loved them. If it was slow I'd talk to them as long as I could.

I work with people who have mental health, addiction, monetary, housing, and 8,394,284 issues... Gary is one of the people I "talk" to each shift. By talking I mean they word salad while I politely nod, break up fights, disarm the violent ones, etc.

I have a friend with schizophrenia (not nearly as bad as this, yet) so I just wanted to say thank you for handling this so well and telling it to him like it is. Oftentimes people with schizophrenia may not agree with what you have to say about them (ie that they're acting crazy and all of their beliefs are just delusions they made up) but they do appreciate honestly. That's one thing schizophrenics are really good, if you're lying at all they usually WILL know and will no longer trust you at all so you've always just gotta be honest with them and lay it out like it is. They definitely might still think you're lying when you're actually telling the truth but they absolutely can tell when you're lying. Also want to say thank you for playing along and hearing him out while making it perfectly clear that you don't believe him because a lot of people will just go along with their delusions to make them happy and once they think someone else believes them it reinforces their delusions and makes them go even deeper down the rabbit hole. Which is a really, really bad thing to do. I respect you a hell of a lot more now after seeing this because it's obvious you care about his well being even though you don't know him and you're very good at handling people with mental impairments.
