What I get out of these videos is less is more which I try to remind myself not to go into 6th gear all the time.

I watched this video and set out to incorporate slow, smart play. I've won 7 in a row since the video, and played really well in all but one that was such a blowout it was hard to get kills because my teammates were animals. I went from mid Diamond 3 to Diamond 5 in a couple of hours. This philosophy is magnificent. Thank you, Dodds!!!

Excellent recap! It would be cool to do a series of testing different things. Try 25 ranked games of different things on new accounts so people can see how far you can get/the importance of that item. These videos can be of like 25 games added to 1 video like this with intro, gameplay, lessons learned, final rank, last minute takeaways. Some videos can be more serious like no mics at all. You might only get to d2 but it'll really show the importance of mics. Or only doing 4 stacks, you may get onyx in 18 games showing people should be playing 4s. Some could be really funny like no shooting. Or melee only. Back in h3 days my friend and I played doubles and would only ninja. That was really stupid but so fun. I'd imagine that would be a hilarious video. You might only get gold 1 but that's a video I'd watch!!! I'll probably watch anything you put out though tbh I don't think this would be too bad, could easily play 25 games in a few days and maybe release a video with a different challenge weekly!

Loved this series, actually made me look at how I play and think before i run and jump all over the place. I also saw a video from Lucid where he jumps, slides, run and everything. He might be good, but it looks sloppy. Would you wanna do a react video and compare his and the sloth playstyle?

Last season I peaked at Plat 1, and then bottomed out at Gold 2 (following making some bad sense setting changes) and leveled back out at Gold 6 (spare me your criticism, please) I started Season 3 at Gold 5, and just kinda hung there. I started practicing this sloth stuff about a month ago, and paying more attention to my positioning and available cover. That was my priority. Not aim or shooting or score… positioning and cover, and situational awareness. Now I’m hanging in at Plat 4 and climbing steadily. This shit’s legit. #SlothNation

Youll notice what pro halo players do. When they know where an enemy is, they dont jump sprint or slide unless they need to or provides an advantage. Often they focus on where the enemy is going and how theyre going to get the first shot. They know when to gear down, and when to go fast. Often they go fast when theyre in danger and need to regroup with tmates or they know an enemy is alone and is clear to push on. But when every enemy is alive, and they dont have information yet theyll stay still and think about whats going on before they move. Its all about knowing when to do something. When ogre2 plays infinite he barely sprints or slides, he trusts in his basic fundamental halo skills and thats often all he needs. If youve gotten an enemy one shot, but ur also weak some times instead of sprinting away its better to back away while keeping ur weapon aimed at where the enemy could pop out, u could easily get the kill shot on that last player as they try to chase u and u win the battle just because they sprinted towards u but u were ready for them.

Being a sloth definitely is the trick to getting players off guard. You don't need to move 100% of the time to make the right play. Big tip for my gameplay. Look forward to your content as always!

Hey man, I have a challenge suggestion. It might be kind of stupid, and probably impossible (not in a hard way, like just literally) but I was thinking you could study distinct ways that different Halo pros play and then play like each of them and see which style suits you best? For example, Frosty is pretty aggressive, Snakebite isn't flashy but smart about how he plays, Pistola stays alive really well, etc

Very interesting series, I naturally play very sloth like in BTB, especially CTF where I’m posting up in a few positions defending our flag and taking out easy kills and destroying vehicles. have had plenty of 20+ kill , 10k damage+ and 0 deaths. It’s interesting that works well in 4v4 as well, I play faster move around more and am more engaging, mainly cause it’s more fun that way and I’m far from being a pro and don’t play ranked, but I definitely think I could incorporate many of the lessons here and improve and play smarter

I've gotten to diamond before but nowhere near as fast now that I've stopped J/SP/SL so much. This season I started at G2, im at P4 and have had 2 win streaks. A 9game win streak getting me from G to P2 and another 5 game win streak from P3-P4

I'm not about deleting buttons. But, I am all for making sure your not using double negatives. Like hold to sprint And maintain sprint.

Great follow up Bro!! You know what though? I have what is known as “Shoes” (Issues) I try to slow down but the crack addict in me forces me to slide and repulsor jump and sprint like Mr. Bolt. I can’t fk’n stop lol. Seriously though, I think I’m just so full of bad habits I just regress back to my old catshit ways when the bell sounds. We have some mid Diamond guys and when we team up I can play with them just fine and then I’ll turn around and lose to some Low plats. Maybe one day Mr slothmaster, we shall see.

I see you running, sprinting and sliding in these videos. I’ve been doing the sloth mode and playing the objective, but haven’t reached onyx. Playing with randoms it feels better impossible.

Your #slothnation series has been a real eye opener. I have been watching tips and tricks on how to increase your movement and almost all of them actually made me play worse. They ways of #slothnation taught me that being deliberate and thoughtful in your actions is very important. It is not about trying to use all advanced movement techiques all at once. Use it when necessary, balance is key. I have progressed faster just by listening to you and switching my playstyle in three days than ever before. I still have a long way to go from plat 4 but you made ranked fun again :D For that you have my gratitude and my friendship.

K, I GOT A SERIOUSLY IMPORTANT QUESTION THOUGH!!! How on EARTH did you win like 80% of your games?!?!? I totally get slowing down to improve your individual gameplay, love that, have been implementing it big time. And while I absolutelly notice a difference in my overall skill when I do, I still dont see any difference in my wins and losses. I'm not one of these guys who blames everything on my teammates either, but I VERY OFTEN go like, 14-5 in a ranked slayer and lose by 8 cuz I got 2 knucklehead teammates who dont listen to callouts and run around the map like idiots...like, its their full time job to die as much as possible. Even if you can improve greatly, their are still 3 other players that contribute to your team success, and no matter how much better I get, i still find myself winning about exactly 50% of my games, because, well, humans....HOW DO YOU INFLUENCE WINS VS LOSSES SO WELL SLOTH MAN! TELL ME!!!! (for reference, I hover around D1-D2 most of the time)
