@NomadWalker-io3ne due to many chemicals introduced into our food supply, very little of it is actually healthy. It's all low-grade harmful sustenance.
@NomadWalker-io3ne you believe that veggies grown in our chemical run-off laden soil is truly better than the carnivorous option? Just eat what you think tastes good. AND... I still stand by my original statement: if it doesn't use animal bones, it's not bone broth, it's vegetable stock. It's still delicious, just not bone broth.
If you don’t eat for 5 days; do not start back with heavy food as this guy did. You can seriously hurt yourself. Sorry guy. I know you’re out here making videos and I support you.
True as i had a ng tube in for 12 weeks (that means i didnt eat solid foods and just the stuff they gave my to put down the tube) and when i came off it and could eat again i got very sick, so just be careful
@@yopflopbecause in 5 days, your stomach adapt to only receive soft liquid food. Giving hard food will "surprise " it and can harm your digestion organ. Just drink and eat half liquid half hard food like warm porridge, or soup at first. Then slowly after u gain strength, after few hours, your stomach will be willing accept the normal one
I'm a dietician student and I can say that you don't build up bad stuff in your body. Your body cleans itself all the time. You can do fasting with professional help but not by yourself. Be really careful. And it's not recomended for everyone. Don't eat so fat and so much after fasting. Your body isn't used to so much food anymore. You can harm yourself. Speak to a doctor before.
You are incorrect. Humans do build up bad things in their bodies such as undigested food, bad bacteria, poorly or non functioning cells, toxins, etc. If you think otherwise, go review your text books.
In my early 20s i wouldn't eat for days because i simply had no money. It doesn't feel good guys. I felt like i was going crazy. It took years to undo the damage to my body. Pls eat well and take care of your health. That's my only wish for everyone here.
Fasting ≠ starving. Fasting is the voluntary act of not eating food. Starving is the forced act of not eating food. There is a completely different mindset behind those two and it triggers different hormones
@@tigerslick1111 when you do it properly. You can’t fast then just have ramen and max and cheese bc that’s what you can afford. I’ve been that poor. It’s not a choice.
That's true, in my religion it's called fasting. During Ramadhan, we do fasting for 30 days. We do fasting (no eating or drinking) for 14 hours. Yes, it has a lot of benefit
Yes, it's not bone broth if it's vegan and only composed of mushrooms and seaweed. Bone broth is actually nutritious and has allot of positive things to keep you alive.
don't listen to that guy above, bone broth unless sourced from grass fed grass finished animals is something to avoid, at the very least it needs to be grass fed. once in a while it won't be too harmful, but definitely don't consume it too often, avoid if possible
@@NomadWalker-io3ne Where did you get that nonsense from? Bone broth is one of the best things anyone can eat. * It's an excellent source of collagen,a fundamental building block to build structure and repair tissues everywhere. Which is needed everywhere. everywhere from the eyes, the gut lining, joints and even the uterus! In addition, bone broth contains glucosamine and chondroitin which are natural compounds found in cartilage and essential for joint and connective tissue health. * Bone broth has naturally anti-inflammatory actions thanks to special amino acids like glutamine which can help repair the tight junctions in the gut lining, a condition known as ‘leaky gut’. It is also a source of proline and glycine, two other amino acids only found in small amounts in meat. These help provide the building blocks for the rapid growth of cells in the gut lining, and reduce inflammation. You can also drink bone broth for gut health as it contains hyaluronic acid, which helps to give tissues moisture and keeps them lubricated. * Bone broth contains sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphate and chloride. These micronutrients power the energy batteries of each cell in your body, needed for the mitochondria, and without them no cell-to-cell electrical conduction would take place. *Because it helps repair your gut it also repairs and boosts your immune system because it highers your amino acids and glutamine levels. And no, it doesn't have to be farm sourced. Both broth is extremely healthy to consume regardless. Everything you said was utter nonsense. People have been drinking soup with bone broth when they get sick for thousands of years. It's because it works and is extremely good for your body.
The reason you feel sharper and more focused after a few days of not eating is because your body is going into survival mode and is alert for any way you can get some food. Once you pass that stage without eating you become very weak and fuzzy headed as your body relies on inefficient respiratory pathways instead of glucose. If you want to feel sharper and more focused without stressing your body out or veering around disordered eating you could try lots of other things (and a blood test if you're tired long term!). This is something I studies in psychology and unfortunately experienced first hand when a virus made me lose a quarter of my weight in a month... The shift from super alert, to obsessed with food, to completely out of it, struggling to hold a conversation. Be careful guys! If you want to feel awake just splash your face with cold water and put some music on! Reflect for some time every morning and evening and you will experience more clarity. It doesn't have to be so extreme, but then who would watch a video that was so day-to-day?
This isn't entirely accurate. A lot of that fatigue is from not getting enough electrolytes and such. If you're supplementing electrolytes and minerals, you can fast for quite some time. It's very healing and has so many benefits to just be disregarded so easily. Important to look at more data and research before making such blanket statements.
It was not a fast what happened to you. You were weak because you were very ill. One guy fasted for 382 days under medical supervision. No starvation mode.
but to what extent? Let's use an example: (I hope) you do a cleaning every day in your kitchen by washing your dishes after you eat and wiping down the counters. Then (I hope again!!) you do that big cleaning when you empty cupboards and polish the floors and wash the mats. That's the difference.
@maryanyone our bodies aren't kitchens though. They run on automated processes. Like how my phone clears emails and text messages at certain intervals. Your body is constantly filtering and ridding itself of waste. Sure you can over load your organs or damage them, but it's why cleanses and detoxing is mostly BS. You're just making yourself shit more
Yes but we have so many toxins in our world it’s good to stop putting them in for a bit to give our bodies a better chance to actually get clean. Seed oils, refined sugars, glyphosate, pasteurized dairy, corn fed beef, pthalates, parabens, pharmaceuticals, artificial sweeteners and flavours ……the list goes on and on
When I was deep into my ed I would fast constantly, I was so afraid of eating and losing control and gaining weight I would fast for 4 days or to 2 weeks then only have 250-300 calories and over exercise. The first few days of fasting you are more focused and feel more alert but the uncomfortable feeling of your stomach being empty always thinking about food and near you always wanting to eat and feeling mentally exhausted and physically you start feeling like your body is shutting down and have rapid mood swings, having severe stomach pains. Ik alof of ppl fast for their health and for religion and it’s not a bad or unhealthy thing but you need to know what you are doing and talking to an doctor and having a healthy relationship with food you do not need to lose weight just by fasting I fucked my body up so much bc of it
Was looking for a comment like this, because I was wondering if the type of "alertness" would work for people who work regular jobs instead of being able to meditate or go to the park whenever
Obviously, the stomach starts eating itself when you stop giving it food. It's full of acid, and you can end up with gastritis, ulcers, and even internal bleeding. I hope you are safe now. All the best 😊
Yes its not worth it. I still have issues 4 years later with my stomach pain and my appetite being strange. Did not have these issue until I started struggling with disordered eating and forcing myself to only drink water for days
How did you mess your body up? Apparently, there is a large body of research showing the benefits of fasting; it’s shown to be incredibly cleansing. Just curious about your experience.
It’s not wise to eat solid food straight away, your suppose to drink fruit and vegetables juices for a few days than more solid fruit and veggies and than adding in other foods slowly otherwise everything you eat gives you terrible diarrhea, indigestion and bloating. I didn’t eat anything for 2 weeks, so this is what happened when I tried to eat solid too quickly. Please be carful everyone
I have terminal intestinal cancer and haven’t had anything to eat since June of 22. Smelling all the cookouts all summer was horrible. I miss my breakfast sandwiches! So please enjoy eating! I wish I could😢
You stomach is a smooth muscle that empties itself, there's no buildup of "bad" stuff in there that fasting will help get rid of. Fasting can have a lot of benefits but that ain't one of them. Source: am doctor
@@wallybeats9648 meet with your primary care and a dietitian if you're considering this. It has some benefits but doing it prolonged or without preparation and support can cause major issues!
There IS a buildup of "bad" stuff. Years of shoveling 3 meals a day into your body and not giving your digestive system a break has been proven to hurt your gut microbiome. Fasting helps promote the biomes health.
@@jnewgot my comment was from researchers. The fasting-autophagy stuff comes from blogs and writers who extrapolate from some isolated study instead of looking at the full picture. When you base a dietary strategy on one cell study, but ignore all the human data that shows that outside of an isolated cell, the human body as a whole doesn’t change that easily, then you’re not referring to research accurately.
For anyone wanting to fast for a few days. It's important that you break your fast the proper way and don't throw yourself into eating whatever or you'll get ill 🙂
@@wilczajagoda734 it can be dangerous if not done properly. People think it's not a big deal and just go into it without educating themselves first and have actually hurt themselves in the process. Some have even died. Research and studies show that it actually has a lot of health benefits to your body IF done properly. Videos like this are dangerous though because they don't warn people of the dangers of it. It's dangerous for younger people for example who are more impressionable that may try it because they think it's just a trend
I managed 3 days and felt great and my skin started to look a bit better. I didn't have trouble getting up in the mornings and when I broke my fast I didn't pig out which I think is important.
When I was a meth addict I wouldn’t eat for days and I assure you, it’s not a good thing to do ( meth and not eating) stay drug free and please before you take on any new ideas, make sure to consult with a healthcare provider. Stay safe y’all.
It's the meth that messed you up! Autophagy is what I call a built in way of survival for the body. Yoshinori Ohsumi won the 2016 Nobel Prize for “discoveries of the mechanisms for autophagy". There is still a lot of work to be done on figuring out how it works but it is real.
Please visit your family doctor if you feel anything wrong with your body. DO NOT take advice from money hungry "influencers". DO NOT starve yourself. Please, for the love of god, go to the doctor.
He is not starving. I've been fasting for ten years. When we aren't eating, the body repairs itself. We learned that in grade school. Have you ever been so sick, like the flu, that you just laid in bed. I can guarantee you have fasted for a couple of days when really ill. Everyone has. All doctors do today is give you a script for a drug. No thanks
Hunters and gatherers eat when they have food and fast when they don't. Your body is literally made to survive fasting, with help of your fat reserves. That's how we have survived millions of years.
I'd like to inform people that you shouldn't dive into heavy food after fasting a lot. It can kill you if you eat weird stuff after fasting. Go slow if it's a significant fast. Check out online on how to do a safe fast
Usually it's only dangerous when you do a extremely long prolonged fast with low body fat. When your body doesn't have enough fat to produce proper ketones/glucose your body will start to atrophy itself and the organs start to get broken down.
re-feeding syndrome is caused when you fast for a long time (usually after 100 days) and if you are out of sodium and potassium you body can no longer digest food. A lot of people promote eating big after a long fast to jump start the digestive system and I've had no problems with it.
@@kalackninja not even just with refeeding syndrome tho, if you eat heavy foods directly after a long fast it can cause stomach issues and it does for me, the safest way to end a fast would be to eat something light over the course of a couple hours
@@aristo_art9305 you having an issue doesn't make it safer. That fact that you believe it hurts your stomach could be enough to cause you stomach issues.
That's not what autophagy is. You don't need to fast for your stomach to heal. Your immune system and inflammation cascade do that for you all the time ❤
Yes, but if your body doesn’t have to focus on digesting food every few hours then it is able to use energy more efficiently thus speeding up the healing process
You have to eat no caloric foods for that to happen . I went 132 hours with only water , coffee with no sugar or milk and tea . Breaking the fast is when you would start with the bone broth . But a whole large meal doesn't help . If anything that messes with your stomach .
As someone who had undergone like a week without eating in a hospital I must say... it is literal torture. For the 3rd and 4th day I'd just watch people eat on RU-vid. At the end of the 7-ish (don't remember exactly) days I finally got a piece of bread with butter and I actually cried because it has never felt so good to eat anything... then again shed a tear when I got a full meal - even though it was weird hospital food, at that moment it was the best thing I have ever tasted.
Are 2 different things. I made even 2 or 3 weeks on waterfast and nothing bad happen. If it's forced ( because ill, poor or else) you have another mental status and you are right. It's like minimalism ... If you choose it you have little things but big quality, if you're poor you probably not even have enough (necessary) things .
I've been 2 months without eating due to pregnancy sickness, and then in a seperate time years later I've chosen to do fasting cleanse like these. In my experience there is a huge difference. I did not have a choice to not eat, as my body violently rejected all food and liquids including water the entire pregnancy. But choosing to fast after eating fast food for an entire week, I feel incredible and can tell the sludge is clearing that my body was having a hard time digesting on it's own. Big difference.
@@kalackninja exactly. Having no choice but to not eat is psychologically difficult but to be able to and simply choose not to is much easier. Of course it's not a choice to think you are fasting when you cannot choose the start or end point. It is also similar to how I chose to lose weight vs my friend choosing make surgery restrict them. I found their choice much more difficult psychologically, I could never. For it was easier for me to simply not eat as much than to cut my stomach out.
I remember when I woke up in the hospital because my friends said I didn't eat for 10 days or more, and I got acute stomach ulcer. I used to take a lot of xanax to the point of I forgot a lot of things including eating. Apparently I can survive that long without eating.
@@AlainnCorcaigh It isn't for everyone though. I had one of my worst experiences on it, and I also had a friend die while on it because he thought he was a god. I can be amazing but it can also be horrible.
@@gauravrabade5938 yes. I can tell you from my experience and if you do it correctly. i.e. good preparation and motive is a huge factor for a successful fast.
How does starving yourself make you more alert or energized? I feel like when i dont eat for long periods of time, my stomach acids give me heart burn and leave a rancid taste in my mouth. And if you have a physical job, how do you not pass out from exhaustion? I feel like this diet is only good in controlled environments. I cant imagine starving for days while i do my day to day responsibilities
The reason your body and mind focused is because it went into survival mode. Basically giving you focus and energy to go and hunt. Though the body depending on your weight wouldn't be able to do it long term.

@@jenniferlavoie2548 no, it doesn't. I don't know about the 17 hour claim but it happens when the body is in "distress". It's part of a built in survival process.
it happens after working out. Fasting is not essential to the process. Autophgy is present in mice after 15 hours or so, but mice don't live as long as us, and there is no study that examines when it actually happens in humans, who are larger and live longer in mice. Dr. Peter Attia is a well respected MD who used to subscribe to fasting. He no longer does based on the new sceintific studies.@@maryanyone
I used to fast for 2 weeks at a time. I eventually lost the sensation of hunger, then I'd forget to eat. They called it anorexia. I lived like that for 16 years. It took about 5 years to actually feel hungry.
Just for them who want to know : if your fasting for couple days , in your interest, don’t brake your fasting with fastfood. First eat watery fruits like berrys or water melon , then eggs with butter and maybe a good piece of meat ( small portion) That will make your fasting so much healthier. After 4-5 days of fasting, I didnt even crave junkfood or sweet things anymore .
You could get the same mental clarity and level energy by cutting out carbs. So you could essentially reach the same goal as fasting pretty much but not be hungry.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful not eating for this long. i went 8 days without eating because i wanted to “lose weight” in 2021 and it caused me to have severe gastroparesis which is a chronic stomach motility disease which is still affecting me to this day
I did that once when I was 16 as a challenge and literally nothing happened, I was just a little more tired than usual and my heart rate got down to 45 bpm 🗿
I did it for 6 days (with just water): Felt absolutely miserable with no focus throughout. At some point I was slightly hallucinating, and that's when I knew I had to stop. If you do it for medical reasons, I wish you strength and the best for a better outcome. If you don't, please, just *please* let your doctor know beforehand. I for one do not recommend it at all. What I did was stupid and I regret my choice. Don't be like me. Something bad could happen, and the last thing you want to tell your doctor is that you did it with your own hands by deciding to starve yourself for a week (see how idiotic that sounds?). There are other ways you can "detox", that doesn't include quite literally starving. Stay safe.
@@bethanysurrender3439 , according to some holistic doctors, when you go on fasting atleast 5 days , your body will start to consume all those EXTRA fat deposits, and minerals in your joints. Could be true because I can move like I am in my teenage years though I'm already 45.

I have been on a strict water fast for five months, consuming only water and salt. I feel better than ever before. Not only have I shed many pounds of fat, but I have also gotten rid of a lot of excess skin. Being obese for many years made simple tasks like walking and doing daily chores extremely challenging, but now I am grateful for what I have accomplished.
I actually love how he hasn’t mentioned losing any weight. I have an ed and tbh this would’ve made me feel awful if he said how much weight he lost from this
Because it's not all about a number that doesn't matter unless one chose to make it mean something, which is the point of it being a disorder of irrational thoughts and impulses on them. Body damage doesn't need to be calculated in numbers!

He says during the 5 days, one thing he found was he had "a constant level of energy and focus". When you go without eating, you feel lethargic both physically and mentally. He's regurgitating things he's heard about fasting for a YT video, but he didn't actually fast.
Autophagy has been shown to be achieved using Calorie Restriction AND fasting. Neither has been found to be MORE effective than the other. You can’t stop eating for a couple days if you want OR you can just lower calories and achieve this same result in more of a sustainable, long-term way. It’s up to you
Autopaghy is happening after 12 hours of fasting. Prolonged fasting must be supported with vitamin d 3 ( animal sources), magnesium, vitamin k2, water with sodium.
I do a 2 day fast once every week, usually Wednesday & Thursday. Helps keep energy up, stay trim and light in the gut. You'd be surprised how much you crap out in the 2nd half of the 2nd day. I have Crohn's though so this might be a bit extreme for the average person. Maybe 2 days once a month? If you get a stomach bug, fasting is a great way to "nip it in the bud", fnar fnar. Also a great way to reset gut bacteria, though that needs 3 days and only water.
I could only do 2days. At first it was great, I wasn't hungry at all and I could do everything as usual but around 40h i started feeling weird and my sugar level was very low, couldn't concentrate and I wanted to sleep. I think I could have gone for 3days but since I have an actif live and it was during a workweek it was a no
i genuinely love fasting sm. my max was like 150hrs so I haven’t done that extreme fasts but the starving euphoria is so🥴🥴 + it’s SO MUCH easier than restricting
Next time you do this it's better to break your fast with something that has alot of juices like an orange or watermelon, just gives your body a little wake up 😂
Orange has too much acidity. As someone who fasts once a year for a month, something neutral like sweet tea followed with water would be good. The sugar has that sweetness to boost your energy after the fast
I swear it took me 10 days to enter ketosis. I was full of energy for 10 days without food, hadn't lost ANY weight but then day 11 came around and my energy levels tanked + noticeable weight loss the following day.
I could never fast this long. If I go more than 20 hours I start gagging and dry heaving lol. I went a week without eating a few months ago cause I got an infection and I guess my body decided to completely take away my hunger/ability to eat while trying to deal with it. Was so weird to have no appetite for so long and when I did try to eat I felt grossed out after 1 bite.
Make your own bone broth.. Add different flavors, the Korean recipe is really perfect.. You will not miss solid food.. We should actually do this every two months.
I’ve only made it 1.5 days on a juice fast. At the end of the workday on day 2 when I was too weak to run on the treadmill, I decided this just doesn’t feel healthy at all. I went home and had some coffee with almond milk and toast. Immediately started feeling better/stronger. I’m not saying these cleanses aren’t good for you - there’s so much conflicting research. I’m just telling you my experience on how it made me feel.
Periodic fasting has been practiced for thousands of years by multiple cultures. This is not super dangerous. But if you're not used to fasting you definitely should work your way up to 5 days rather than jumping right into it
Yeah contact your local drug dealer that was paid and funded by sugar companies and ask permission from him to do something completely healthy and beneficial to your own body
I use to do this to loose weight. It’s not worth it. Just take the long option or OMAD it’s much healthier too if you want 16:8 that’s good but don’t fast for five days it’s one of the worst things i’ve done
Prolonged fasting is just as healthy. You just have to properly plan by lowerinh your body's glucose before the fast and getting plenty of excersise and electrolytes to go into ketosis sooner.
I got sick and couldn't eat for days and quickly learned via a qualified nutritionist that such things puts you at high risk of re-feeding syndrom. Don't do it. Fast for a day if you must. Not five.
If you are fat you can fast on and off for a while and work out (you will notice an aggressive drop off for about the first month but keep it up brother) after a while your muscle will marble and be able to use fat for energy rather than muscle and you will start to feel stronger after fasting for a few days. Adrenaline is one hell of a drug.
Not sure you can go into autophagy if you're consuming bone broth. Also, bone broth is recommended as the first food to break your fast. Or something equally light. Not a pita sandwich.
I do a couple of 10 -15 day fasts a year, depending how long i can last, i drink some salt water once a day to stave off death, just 2 tea spoons in a pint, its gross and disgusting, but really important, potasium is the real limiter to fast length if you going full water fast and getting enough salt, the fasts completly reset your metabolism and hunger levels, also your insides actually get to take a break, really feel healthier after them, i think 5 days is the minimum time where you will actually benifit from a fast, also, you must have a little fat reserve beforehand otherwise you will lose muscle mass, 5-10 pounds is usually enough to last if you are not doing physical work
For those asking its called vegan "bone broth" because it lets us know right away what its taste and nutritional value is similar too! Since most people grow up with animal products being their base line, this kind of marketing is incredibly accesible for eveyone looking to explore a plant based life style!
I fasted for 40 days on nothing but water. Old scars I had from 20 years ago completely smoothed out. It was crazy like I had baby skin. Fasting is a cheat code
I've only done two days without eating anything, not even bone broth, just water. Can say that it does make you very focused. When I would go back to eating I would nibble every bit of the food and make it last long compared to other days where I could down a burrito in like 3 minutes.
I love fasting my longest fast was 8 days and it completely changed my life. I had chronic inflammation and my body was always in pain. Started fasting and it was like magic! Now I fast 3/4 days a week and take a break here and there but it’s definitely improved my life quite a bit
