So here are some references: Eminem is parodying his own success and all the grief and comparisons that come with it. • Batman (Dr Dre) & Robin (Em) - kids looked up to him as a hero: the 1966 tv show theme music was incorporated into a rap flow @ the 3:53 mark. • Elvis - comparisons of a White performer becoming successful from Black influenced music. (and of course dying on the toilet). • TV that dominated the culture in the late 90s and early 20s: Parody of trash talk show Sally Jesse Raphael in which family members would fight and make fools of themselves- in this case Em’s mom Debbie whom sued her own son. ER (parodied as EM - popular hospital drama that once starred George Clooney). Survivor- reality game show. MTV’s The Real World - some would argue was the Granddaddy of reality television. E news- which glamorized and influenced paparazzi shows like TMZ. • Feuds - Lynne Chaney the wife of former VP Dick Chaney (the man with real life heart problems) - she participated in a Senate hearing to have Eminem banned. Bald Guy was Techno musician Moby ( whom was shown being beat by fellow rapper and band mate Obie Trice). Also mentioned was Prince, Limp Bizkit, NYSNC (ala Chris Kirkpatrick)- not to mention Eminem’s long running feud with the FTC & FCC (the Fed orgs that control and monitor Trade and Communications in the US). • Osama Bin Laden - the most hated person in American culture at that time; which Eminem said he felt was himself at times even though all he was doing was performing rap songs that kids wanted to hear. • Keeping with the theme of Batman and Robin... the car that Eminem and Dr. Dre are in is a Lamborghini Murciélago ( Murciélago is bat 🦇 in Spanish)....and this same model was used as Bruce Wayne’s personal transportation in the Christopher Nolan Batman movies.

That's a lot of info, txs my friend. Still i miss the main point that you can find back in a lot of Eminem songs. And in this song you can even literally hear him say it: I've created a monster 'Cause nobody wants to see Marshall no more They want Shady, I'm chopped liver Well if you want Shady, this is what I'll give you' Know that both the music industry and a lot of fans (Not all!) did NOT whant Marshall but Slim Shady. You can clearly see that Eminem don't like to be Shady but that he had to. In the intro from the music video "The way i am" you can see his problems with the industry. Over the years he still comes back with the main point that the people whant Shady. Lucky for us Eminem was saved by Dtr. Dre. So in some Eminem songs you have Marshall Mathers and in some Slim Shady. (Ok you also have B Rabbit. :d)

Eminem is really blunt as a Lyricist and has no filter. He raps about his ex, mom, horrible groups/singers, his hard life, etc. so because of this everyone wanted to CENSOR him and make sure children didn’t to listen to him but it really didn’t work. Whenever an artist is popular and will diss anyone even Government officials and sometimes his fans for trying to hard to emulate him they will always try to shut you down. He is an equal opportunity rapper because he doesn’t care who you are.

Love, love, love this video!! You see many pop culture references like the old E! True Hollywood Story (the Elvis bits), The Real World, Survivor, Moby (an EDM artist in the day, Osama Bin Laden, Dick Chaney, Chris Kirpatrick of 'N Sync, and Limp Biskit. My favorite Eminem song along with Lose Yourself (a much more serious song that won an Oscar).

My favorite thing he ever did was "It's ok" off of his Infinate album from 1996. I listened to it about a million times in medical school. He has a gift for explaining where hes at and taking you there with him.

Eminem caused waves in a lot of ways. He caused so much controversy with his lyrics. How he spoke about his mom, poverty, society at the time, the government but teenagers related and loved him for it. His music videos were also controversial as in this video at the end he is dressed up as osama bin Ladin hiding in a cave. His mom Debbie also took him to court due to his lyrics about her and his childhood. Due to his lyrics a lot of people wanted him censored and not on mtv ( the main music channel at the time for last music) or anywhere really. And this was in the uk at the time. He was a underdog who spoke about things that a lot of people wasn’t talking about.

I'm an old lady who has loved Eminem from the beginning. Him and 50 Cent, get my blood racing with their kinda dangerous style, great stuff...
