One of the greatest lyrics of all time, “Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose”. Delicious and genius. Such a great song and she just put her stamp on in to make it magnificent. So sad that she passed before it was released and she never got to see its huge success. Great reaction Harri. 🌺✌️

It's not just her voice on this song but It's the musical composition and interpretation of the song that truly makes this song so great for her. Remember Janis was the driving force behind tha bands/musicians she played with. She also wrote a little bit too. Much like Linda Ronstadt, she covered songs and made them uniquely and wonderfully hers.

Harri, if there is one thing that is absolutely apparent it is that you like the music from the 60s through 80s the most. You are a soul born out of your time, ha, ha! I have heard this song so many times I have a hard time believing people haven't heard it. But I'm in my 60s now and I suppose that explains it. I really like the fact that you have a straightforward love of music. This is actually country-blues and that is a really good band! The "Full Tilt Boogie Band" from Canada, my country! My sister's Grace's favourite album is _Pearl,_ along with anything from JJ Cale! 😉🎸😎🎶

WOW......Just frickin WOW. Song sends me off on so many levels....for so many reasons.....kinda an anthem for the footloose and fancy free days of my youth.....As for Kris.....great guy.....met him back in the day....Mr. Bonehead here was drunk....got my car stuck in his front yard....he had this circle turn around driveway.....a lawn surrounded by a somewhat high cement curb....somehow....hiccup😵😵😵....the car jumped the curb.......totally stuck....long story short.....he comes out with this contraption he specially made for such an event.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣....says it happens all the time.....more to the story....kinda funny....but I'll keep it short .....he gave us a tour of his house....down to earth....no "air" of stardom .....personable as hell. Soul.

*Harri* The journey these lyrics evoke are amazing, right.? Kris Kristofferson wrote this but it belongs forever to Janis.... It was her *biggest commercial hit* but sadly she never knew it as it was released shortly after her death...! For some reason in my mind I always thought of this like Otis Redding's *Sittin on the dock of the bay* It was his biggest hit, but was also released shortly after his early death......ALWAYS loved this song.....

So glad you stopped when you did.. The backstory I heard in an interview with Kris Kristofferson, he'd been impressed with Jonny Cash's, A Boy Named Sue, and he wanted to follow on the gender-bending name twist trope, while it was still popular. So he wrote, Me and Bobby McGee, to be sung from a male perspective. He recorded it and it did okay. But then Janis recorded it and he said, "She took it and made it her own."

Singers don’t scream. They belt but they don’t scream, certainly not Janis.
@ToddSauve
@ToddSauve 2 года назад
Some do scream and ruin their voice early because they never learned the proper technique for belting. It is quite a hard thing to learn that technique because it requires the training of muscles in your throat and around your larynx, as well as opening your mouth wide and in the proper shape to produce the amplitude of vocals you want. Look up a South Korean singer named So Hyang. She is, IMHO, the best singer in the world right now and can _really_ belt with the best of them! David Foster puts her right beside Whitney Houston! Check her out with this song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C6iHh4yBxCo.html And this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T4UyIMkdy4M.html

First, I hope you look into the history of the song. She recorded it like 3 days before she died and the writer didn’t even know she sang and recorded until like the day after the day she passed, ~ or something like that. ~ It didn’t come out until What gave her what she had was, ironically her innocence and vulnerability. Telling you. Look up this famous nude of her. You will not see a screaming flame of a strange rebel female. I have no idea how she got talked into this. The photograph is titled “Janis Joplin Standing Nude” by Ben Seidemann. She definitely looked real and vulnerable and honest. Beautiful really.
