The style of writing, characters and general atmosphere of this reminds me of "The Dresden Files". Those books may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but the way they were written was utterly addictive. It always left me wanting to read the next page, and even though there were a few cringe moments that pushed the plot forward, I found that I could not put the books down. And this definitely reminds me of that. If the author is reading this, please make a series out of this. I could see your main character being a Harry Dresden type or something similar. You've got your entire journey for character development right in front of you. Normal human has to adapt to an abnormal environment with abnormal inhabitants but through growth, adventure, and engaging in jovial shenanigans while a serious, near apocalyptic threat looms in the background, he eventually finds that he has more in common with his surroundings than he first thought, thus giving him a "second life" or a second chance at life. Heartwarming and entertaining. Anyway, good job. Keep it up. And thank you for the narration. It's always a pleasure.

When I heard the name Bathory, I kept picturing the Fate Grand Order version of Elizabeth Bathory, which is literally a 14 year old, pink-haired, dragon/vampire girl who acts like an idol. It kind of ruined the creepiness for me honestly.

A continuance of this story would be fantastic. I used to write short stories in high school. Maybe I'll pick that torch back up. Lol.

interesting concept of the space in between 🤔 sounds like if you fall you land in hell and if you increase altitude you might find your way to heaven.
