Really liking my 300 HAM'r. But ya wanna be a hand loader. Its on par with what a 30/30 is advertised to be. So its just a lil batter Ballistics then the 30/30. Star line makes brass RCBS and Redding and LEE make dies. Use's 110-150g 30 cal bullets. Twist is 1:13.
That's a "rebranded" Schmid 2-stage trigger. A lot of companies sell these at a markup and low-key imply that they designed or manufacture them themselves. It's a very good trigger for the money. As for cost of ammo, the 300 HAM'R is ridiculously cheap to feed if you handload and have the equipment and spare .223 brass. Because it takes a .30 bullet, the choices there are virtually limitless. Conversion is a breeze. You'll never run out of ammo, provided the usual materials are available. Suppression notwithstanding, it absolutely blows away 300 BLK. In addition to Wilson Combat, Shaw also manufactures 300 HAM'R barrels. And really, the barrels from WC are reasonably priced given the quality, especially when they go on sale, as they do around certain holidays.
Sorry for the late question but you said it suppresses fine. If you don't mind me asking could you elaborate a little? Everything I have read said out of an AR one would not be able to run a subsonic load like the B.O. can or are you just saying you run supers though a suppressor? Just curious, I am considering the Ham'r. Thanks.
I don’t use a silencer to be quiet, I use it to hide my flash… sound won’t pin point to your location it will bounce. I have a 300 Hamr and I run it suppressed. God bless all
You should really do some research before making some of your statements. The 300 Ham'r can be run suppressed. It was not designed to run subsonic though. It was designed to normally run 110gr - 150gr bullets. It is approximately 40% stronger than 300 Blk and 20% more than a 7.62x39. The 300 Ham'r barrels are Match Grade with 1:13 and 1:15 twist rate. Barrels range from 8" - 20" in length. To convert your 556 rifle all you need is a barrel and 300 Blk mag. My favorite round is the 130 Speer Hot Core, 2550 fps with 1800 ft lbs of energy. No it's not Mil Spec, especially the triggers. They have several to choose from, both single stage to two stage.
I think I will, there is something missing in the springs I have been running. If I can replicate this feel, that would be nice. Someone said I just need to use more grease! Haha
