Thank you, Richard. I've been aware of your work for a few years and find it valuable and informative. If you help people to cut through the political smoke and mirrors, and discover the false narratives on macro economics, you have helped society in the most effective way possible through your specialist knowledge. You are a great human being and I appreciate your work.
So truly inspirational Richard. Thank you. My own views on the prospects of this civilisation I have made known. I work tirelessly to change to PR voting. I feel it’s so important that we all try to mitigate the outcomes of the crazy world around us. You do this magnificently.
@@pip3124 : as someone put it "government organises for the dominant and disorganises for the dominated". In the West, this seems to ring true loudest in the UK and USA.
Thank you RIchard. I've been reading your blog for years, have read your books, and follow your videos now on RU-vid. I am constantly amazed that almost every day, I learn something new from your posts. Keep up the good work.
Great initiative; there's a great need; for an objective review, of what financial fixes, politicians are fiddling with. Most defiantly! keep up your extremely good works!! The works of a very practical mind; such a mind is a gift of great proportion.
I listen to your vlogs every day and look forward to them for the insight they provide. Economics was my least favourite subject at school because to me it seemed to make no sense. Your output and that of other progressive (aka reality-based) economists has helped me understand why. And more importantly, it helps me to better evaluate the output of politicians, think-tanks, journalists and commentators; and therefore what I should advocate for and do to also try to change the world to make it better for all. Thank you.
I find your work very valuable in beginning to see through the fog of jargon and orthodox mantras that our politicians and most media commentators pump out to give the impression that there is no other way. Your clear breakdown of the basic components of economics helps reveal the broken machinery behind the scenes and helps in framing questions to challenge policy makers. Thank you.
I appreciate listening to your moment of introspection. As a 68 year old who has been watching your RU-vid content for a year or so I have woven much of your content into my own understandings of myself, the UK and world in general. This wonderful electronic medium of human interaction has one human drawback however - we cannot touch each other in real terms. I usually cannot say to a content creator "Richard, your words have brought light to an area which was previously dim to me". Bronowski said in his Ascent of Man series "We have to touch people" whilst, to my mind, failing to acknowledge that we also need to be touched. Please consider this my virtual reciprocating touch.
Thank you Richard, you've certainly made a difference to me. Your short, concise and informative videos have helped me gain a deeper and better understanding of economics. I enjoy watching as wide a range of views as possible (despite the RU-vid algorithm's best efforts to prevent this) and wish to say that your arguments hold up very well to scrutiny in my humble opinion. It is incredible how little most of us know about real economics, as we have been fed a very poor diet by main stream media outlets and politicians alike, who's only true interest is to keep us distracted so we continue to vote for them. Your work helps to change that, one person at a time. Thanks again.
Thank you for all of the work you do. It is invaluable. Thank you, also, for the work you've done which has helped to bring about change. I have used your work to firstly understand what's going on in the world, and now I promote your videos wherever possible to pass on your knowledge and understanding of economic reality (which I believe it to be, despite your detractors). Your videos are always just long enough, easy to understand and backed by evidence - an excellent resource for people who care about other people to hopefully bring about more change in a deeply inequitable world.
Your straightforward explanations are much appreciated in an area that often owes more to fantasy than reality and even the reality has fantastical appearance at times! I wasn't aware of your other work but it comes as no surprise as the humanity of your videos is more than apparent. I believe much of the current economic structure arose from the Bretton Woods conference and subsequent transatlantic agreements and it would be interesting to hear more about this. Perhaps you have written/talked about this elsewhere? Many thanks for your continuing work.
I am grateful for your approach - identification of a problem and proposal of a solution. I learn from your analysis and although I am merely an ordinary voter, I feel that I am open to opportunities to put your thoughts into practise. I don't envy you the scrutiny of nasties so I hope you will continue with your videos.
I admire your dedication to sharing your knowledge with us all. Your insights have opened my eyes to many of the fallacies that our media impart onto us. I could see the tidal wave of damage coming our way from 2020, and began to try to understand economics, and what the actions of the Conservatives were doing to the fabric of the country. Your teachings have made me look at the world in a different capacity, and given me the hunger to learn more.
I am reminded of this quote "Only a crisis, actual or perceived, produces real change. When that crisis occurs, the actions that are taken depend on the ideas that are lying around. That, I believe, is our basic function: to develop alternatives to existing policies, to keep them alive and available until the politically impossible becomes politically inevitable." - Milton Friedman
I want to appreciate everyones point of view and decide for myself. Variety is the spice of life and Richard is an essential ingredient in a world of reticence and esoteric practices.
Hello Richard, You appeared in my feed recently and ive been struggling to get my head around some of the things you are saying - possibly because the videos that have turned up have mostly talked of counter intuitive ideas. My guess is some of what you say is underpinned by Modern Monatory Theory and i have no clear model either of classical economics or MMT. I was not aware you posted so much - it sounds exhausting - but it does explain why i cant really see all the connections or join the dots. Anyway this is a long winded way of saying I'd like to know more but would appreciate a map. I suspect i will agree with what you are proposing but reserve judgement until i get a systematic idea of your model of the world.
I take my hat off to your perseverance Richard, and appreciate your clarification on financial advice.. Unfortunately, greed is a nasty trait that too many people possess these days 😢
I plan to retire at the end of 2025 at 62 after 36 years in Telecom as a sales engineer. My wife will retire in May 2026 and she's loving life! But walking away from a good income stream and building the nest egg to living from the nest egg is a scary proposition couple with the alarming recession and CPI report
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I'd suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
My advice: for newbies to grow financially this year, invest. Saving is good, but investing elevates your finances. Why newbie make huge losses on trade is because investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. that will stop you from trading, this has been one of the biggest problem to new traders, I've learned this from my own experience
Tracy Britt Cool Consulting was my hope during the 'bear summer' last year. I made so many mistakes but also learned so much from it, and of course from Tracy.
I feel that a good start to changing things would be to ask top progressive economists to manufacture "press packs" for economic reporters, in order to get the message across that there are more enlightened economic models which pertain to government. Educating the economic reporters is the only way to get the narrative changed in the mainstream media - which would hopefully spill over into voter expectations. Only when politicians are expected to work within progressive economic models, will they be forced to do so. Once the man in the street realises that "the government prints its own money, and therefore can afford to do anything", things might change.
I truly enjoy your daily output - it’s interesting and educational and although I’m not always in agreement I certainly understand the arguments and it helps widen my understanding. Great job
I watch listen and follow a number of different economists with different views . I find the subject interesting even though I have never studied the subject.
I know it generates clicks and comments, but taking contrarian views on economics is problematical. Those who do not understand how the economy functions can take your statements at face value, giving them a distorted view. You do not need to- there is enough real issues to address.
Thank you for the work you do, Richard. I follow you on Twitter, but I do think you should post to Instagram too. Twitter is becoming too toxic and I'm going to leave it for Bluesky.
