Hey y’all-the closed captions on this video are still rendering because I had to fix an error in the original video and quickly re-upload. The old video is now unlisted, but it is fully processed and has rendered CC. Please point me in the right direction if this has already been done by you, but I'd love to see your teal/blue green and deep purple/aubergine/red purple eyeshadows that you own swatched in one video!
Does anyone else find the little clicky sound the eyeshadows make when they’re moved around extremely soothing??? Also I really love how well-loved all the shadows look. Great video!
I actually find it extremely irritating. It’s always a rush to hit mute when that noise starts. But now I guess I know why it’s left in the videos. 🤷♀️
I really enjoyed watching this, Hannah. Would you consider doing a video where you make like 3 different eye looks from this palette? I would so love to see that. If not on big RU-vid, then maybe as a treat for your patrons?
I love the moment at 16:30 (ish) when you’ve finalized the selected group, and the rejects suddenly form a sort of alter-ego for this color story! And also, I can’t get enough of your BYOP videos - there’s something so soothing and captivating about the way you thoughtfully process and edit these color palettes :)
Ok so I haven’t finished the video yet but we need an ASMR video of you taking your shadows in and out of palettes. And the sounds of the shadows being arranged in color groups. I could listen forever. Anyone else or just me?
Hot tip: when I was deciding if I was into pastels this Spring, I used a couple NYX Epic pastel pencils as bottom liner, with a complimentary shadow on top. I had so much fun (and wanted more with which to work) that I did order the ND pastel palette. I’m enjoying color adventures like I had not since 2007-ish. :)
I'm noticing how these colors are really common in art deco interior design, especially with how it's been modernized. The bold gem colors are toned down in a very classy way. The greens and teals especially have a stained-glass vibe and feel super elegant.
You have given me the hobby that both soothes my soul and is useful for my everyday life! I love the build your own palette videos so much and have used and played with my makeup far more than ever thanks to your inspiration
I always love these overhead with your singles. I would however disagree that the shadows you showed at the beginning are a lot alike. Pastels and neutrals and spicy and grungy don’t all scream similar to me,
The reveal of all the colors you picked kinda reminded me of the new pat mcgrath x bridgerton collab pallet. Which I didn’t even think fit into the trend of the rest of these pallets but it kinda does.
I have noticed that since I stopped buying palettes & started buying singles, depotted my favorite palettes & prefer brands with magnetic, removable pans I don't feel the need to buy more makeup. If I feel I want more of a certain color or texture in my collection, I only pick up a couple singles to try out or a very small capsule palette that has removable pans so it's like buying 6 singles. Now I can make my own palettes & switch them out however I like & when I see something that catches my eye--most of the time I can dupe it with what I have. It has made my makeup much more enjoyable & I feel less guilt & regret over impulsive//emotional purchases. I invested in some very nice custom empty palettes from a seller on Etsy so I don't feel like I am losing out on the esthetic of pretty packaging :) My custom palettes are usually 9, 12 or 15 pan palettes since larger palettes tend to overwhelm me but it's easy to mix & match & much easier for me to store. Anyway, I really enjoy videos like this--so inspiring!
If popping out removable pans from pre-made magnetic palettes (like the Natasha Denona palettes) ever feels tedious, it might be worth looking into getting a magnet. I have a neodymium bar magnet that I use on my magnetic nail polish and it works great for depotting shadows like that. It takes less time and I nick my shadows less often. It's a great alternative for anyone who struggles with steady hands or lacks the patience!
I was also going to suggest a strong magnet. Especially for the ColourPop pans that are so snug in the packaging. I'll have to look into the one you are talking about.
@@paulastratton3047 Magnets designed for nail art purposes are super user friendly, so I don't think you can go wrong there! Nail polish magnet wands also work great. Both of them are affordable on Amazon, but there are also some great ones from indie nail polish sellers. Without them, I probably would've destroyed most of my eyeshadows by now!
My own BYOP of the day story: I've been drooling at the Glaminatrix Nocturnal palette, all its moody cool tones and sparkly multichromes. I duped the vibes and realized that I had suddenly depotted almost every shade of Kaleidos x Angie's Club Nebula. They're almost the same palette, with Glaminatrix switching out the peaches for the gorgeous periwinkle, buttercup yellow, and a fuschia duochrome. 😁
@@Jeessy1234 No! The Club Nebula palette does not have magnetic removable pans. They are definitely glued in, so unless you don’t want those shadows in their original packaging anymore, I wouldn’t depot it
@@warriorssaga13 Yeah, I had to do it pretty carefully, warming around the pans with a heat gun (the pans aren't magnetic so an induction heater wouldn't work). Still had a few cracked mattes... Repairable though. Attached some old z-palette magnets and they're good to go for me :)
Your dictionary and articulation are so wonderful. I love your content and how you share your thought process. Thanks for showing that some of us beauty enthusiasts are also brainiacs! Kudos!!
I, too, was captivated by dijon and the black--which I think I have. Also the pastel blue and the burgundy. I might have to mix a couple colors to get something akin to dijon, but I think that would be fun for St Paddy's dinner tomorrow.
I can’t seem to stop watching your videos. Something so satisfying about that fast motion organizing. I don’t even organize myself so it’s weird that I get off on this
I've noticed that warm blues--teals, turquoises, aquas--seem to be released for Summer. Mediterranean color stories in general I guess. Just as with fashion, certain colors trend seasonally on the regular. Pink & Peach in Spring, Burgundy & Rust in Fall/Winter.
I want an embroidered hoop of this final pallet to exist in the world and more specifically on my wall. The non symmetric / tasteful chaos and mix of textures is art. Always fun watching your videos. Thank you!
I really love the palette you created! You and I love the same kinds of colors and textures when it comes to shadows ( blushes and lippies too) your channel is definitely a favorite!!!! Thank you!❤
You inspired me to depot my Too Faced sweet peach palette and picked the shades that inspired me the most. I absolutely appreciate loving these shadows again!
your custom palette reminds me a whole lot of my nyx ultimate utopia palette. and it's like my most favourite palette ever! super nice quality and totally gorgeous colour story.
I really love your byop videos because i remember seeing some influencers saying "nobody cares about singles anymore" a few years ago and that struck me as such a stupid concept... i do! Because why am i buying a palette if i only like 3 shades? And it took me a while to find people who were reviewing singles and building palettes, so i can inspire myself to do my own. Sadly a lot of my palettes are so hard to depan, and i need to find another clean empty one, but these videos have been getting me excited about it!
I just found your channel a couple of days ago and I think I found a gem🥰 your discourse and style is so chill and graceful. I feel like you are already a dear friend of mine. Love your content, good luck on your recent moving!
I am not even close to be "done" with my curated Dead Flowers palette you inspired in February (and probably never will be) but this is so luscious. The grungy gold to aubergine swatches gave me MANY FEELINGS and may usher me into a new era. Love you, love yer face.
This is SUCH a beautiful colour story. I feel like you’re the friend we all need to remind us how much we already have when the flood of new palettes hit the market. Thank you for the inspiration!
I love those videos! To me the mix of neutrals, mustards, corals/peaches and teals is the most attractive out of this entire colour story. I’m eyeing the It’s a Mood since it released, but I know that I won’t use the glitters, and there are 3 of those. I guess I’m going to dupe the vibes of it today 😁
❤ I don't have quite the collection of singles, but watching you put together the vibes from the latest spring time 2022 eye shadow palettes really is inspiring. Loving what you already own is such an important message. I repeat myself but that's why I enjoy your videos, Hannah. Hoping your move (whenever it happens) will go well.
I got really excited about the CP Shadow Top left 2 ND row 2 down. The Silver/taupe w/ brownish base Duocrome & 1of the teal Duocrome shade swatched near your thumb all the way to the right, 2nd from the bottom!!! Beautiful!!!!
Beautiful!! This was so fun! I really like how your palette turned out. I would love to see you play with those purples, or the periwinkle, or even the teals. Thanks for sharing! 😊💜🌻✨
I just watched this dupe the vibe of it's a mood yesterday. Looks like you bought it after all. 🤣 Watching this today, I'm stuck by how many of these colors are in retro glam.
Hannah everything about this video is satisfying!! My fav part is watching the shadows come together in your very own personal palette. This video is inspiring to me bc you make me want to be a better version of myself with my own collection and be mindful of how I use my collection and what I bring into it. Thank you for the inspiration. 🔥🌷💕💕
Dear Hannah: I have four Natasha Denona Mini (5-shade) Palettes that I want to break open, but I have no idea how to go about it since the palette body is molded plastic. Seems impossible to get into. If you've successfully pulled this off, I'd love your tips. Also, your curated palette looks STUNNING!
I haven't personally depotted those palettes, but try heating the back of them up with a hair dryer! It'll loosen the glue holding the pans in and you'll be able to pry them up easier. Another option is to find a seam in the plastic component and try wedging it open that way! Best of luck
I haven't tried it with any ND minis, but when I depotted some of my palettes years ago I used a combination of radiator heat and oven heat to melt the glue.
I destroyed my mini gold trying to depot it. There isn't enough space to lever the pans out, but melting the glue kinda melted the molded plastic too. One matte cracked, and one shimmer had melted plastic on the pan which couldn't be removed. Kinda mourn that loss ngl I think it's possible, but I'm not going to try again.
I have to say I’m surprised u don’t have more tattoos or something because u really know how to commit even though u have a bunch of other beautiful shadows for the palettes u create.
I really love these videos, although in this one I missed the part where you narrow down the selection of shadows and you explain why you choose some shadows over others. Now that part was speeded up and I hope that next time I can hear your thoughts 😊
This color combo reminds me a lot of blend bunny's doll house palette. Which I want. I also kind of want the flower punk palette but I'm holding strong on no makeup purchases until June. If I still want both palettes in June I might buy them then.
my heart breaks more and more with each stab into one of the shadows :,) i know it's somewhat inevitable when one's dealing with shadows that are undoubtedly fragile and delicate, but it's still sad to see
A few years ago, I was like, “who is this strange and beautiful lady with the poet’s voice and the weird 1980s intro music?” And now I watch HLP videos almost daily. I am politely requesting another iambic pentameter video… or perhaps limericks. Either will do.
I'm getting some pretty strong Born to Run vibes from this collection, and I really loved the look of that palette even though I never bought it, so you're inspiring me to dig into my own collection to dupe the vibes. Fantastic and thoughtful as always, Miss Hannah! My feeling while watching this is that you show a pleasure/enjoyment in makeup that I'm not sure I see in any other beauty channel. It's not a binary sort of "like this, don't like that"; it's a nuanced, textured, gritty, visceral sort of true joy in the many facets of your makeup. And I find that so valuable. Brava.
Love your videos, first time commenter here! Is there anything Golden Olive does not work with? I see it in so many of these vids. Segue to ... Hannah I would love to see you do a video on eyeshadow for pale olive complexions. I have a similar complexion to you with a distinct green cast slightly deeper and it has taken me until age 50 to get a proper match. (Crazy all those years struggling with yellow or peach foundations what a waste! ) I am left wondering what eyeshadows work with this complexion? I assume complexion is more critical than iris colour in selecting and editing shades - maybe? I do know golden olive works for me, peaches look awful on me, pinks even worse, blues terrible, navy awful despite being great in clothing for me, olive and burnished grungy golds and green leaning neutrals which are hard to get seem to be all I can pull off. I’m not unhappy with that I’m just curious - what works? Love to hear your thoughts.
I think she mentioned that it ended up being sent to her in a later video and that she ended up finding it useful and not as bulky as she had thought it’d be.
@@HannahLouisePoston awesome! Glad you have it to use for building color stories! I’d love to know you perspective of duping it versus having it in your collection now.
Hi Hannah - what is the wispy gray color in highest row up your arm (one of the last swatched), above thumb between the pale blue and the teal (second in)? and the color on the other side of that teal; the blue? Thanks for this gorgeous vid!
The Byredo palette has beautiful colors, but is FAR too REDUNDANT. I see at least SIX shades that are SO CLOSELY related that it doesn’t seem like they would look DIFFERENT ENOUGH on the EYES. The Colourpop palette seems to have the MOST variety WITHOUT feeling REDUNDANT.
Yes, I have been digging into that lately and felt a lot of similarity! I think seeing how Hannah styles the periwinkle into a look is going to help me work up the courage (cool tones a la carte are tough for me).
Still talking myself out of that Nabla palette since I really only want the sage row, the other three rows I can recreate with my singles. Anyone have good colourdupes for those grey-green mattes? Ideally from a brand available in Europe?
