I personally really like the idea that these two teens just wanted to put sax into their song but didn't have the money to do so or know anyone who would do it, so they just somehow found a tape where someone was playing a solo they liked and so they spliced the footage and sound into the tape of them preforming in the basement with the guitarist's sister working the tech and helping her brother swap out his mic and guitar at times.

Perfect inspiration for a D&D city setting. "Cast all your spells and then you have that good ol' fashioned Razzmatazz." Monuments filled with parasites, sound like corporate espionage to me! "Paint the town on our way home" is just slang for a street fight. "The blinking lights are breaking bones" is just the city atmosphere. The smell of inspiration is such an intoxicating thing.

Okay so I remember that in another video, someone had theorized that Telex helped IDKHBTFM become famous musicians in exchange for the ability to experiment on them. @@Viper-dz2kw it's subtle and maybe unintentional, and to be fair I should've said "swing influences" it has more sensibilities of big band and 50's rock 'n' roll swing (and more obviously, pop and rock from the second half of the 20th century) than from, say, thelonius monk but notice the chromatic melodies, vamps, bass riffs like, if you put "do it all the time" on swing 8ths, it could easily be a big band song so, that's where I hear the jazz/swing (also the word "razzmatazz" conjures memories of "razzle dazzle")

I played the whole album for my mom today and she loved it!! She was a teenager during the 80s and thought they recaptured the vibes perfectly haha. And she loved the idea of them creating a fictional story for the band. There you go folks idkhow is so good that all generations love them

Everyone is commenting about the video having an 80s vibe, I’m getting more of an early-MTV 90’s feel from it. Especially Dallon’s outfit with the plaid and graphic T shirt, not to mention the shaggy surfer haircuts (maybe unintentional because of quarantine clouding down the hair salons lol.) Makes sense on the timeline of the band that this would be a more recent song moving into early 90’s.

Just listened to the entire album at midnight today, I haven't had time earlier. It broke me, it really did. The mix of happy song and depression hits too hard. Like I'm less miserable than last year, but i'm still unhappy about things I can change. Like family, friends, school, the future and my character.

When I first found them a few months ago I was sort of sad that they was sort of new and didn't have a billion songs published but now I enjoy getting surprised to see a new song released and be excited and unexpected, then being ok to wait for the music video and being surprised again just a week later! Love these guys.

One of the best vocal hooks, absolutely keeps replaying in my head. In a good way, not an annoying ear worm. Really appreciate the skill and perfectionism these guys bring to their final product. I've been writing songs for a while, being mainly focused on vocals, and feel ashamed of my instrument backing. They make me want to do better.

Man I don't know what it is about this video but I just love everything about it. The way it's been filmed, put together, and the editing is just *Chef's kiss*.
