Sorry epic, I watched it, probably the second worst video game movie adaptation of all time, behind double dragon that for me holds the all time worst title. The casting, the aimless plot, no explanations for things and barely any character development whatsoever. I had a good feeling this was awful but good lord this was embarrassingly bad. Pitchford should be crying in a corner, but the guy is living in a different dimension and probably thinks is a masterpiece.
Pitchford have nothing common with this movie. Yeah aimless plot, open vault - so i assume all borderlands games have aimless plot. No explanation for things - whole first 30 mins of movie is focused on characters and story. I doubt you even watched it.
How have you watched it when the movie isn’t released until tomorrow and only those who are granted access or able to watch it early? so instead of lying why don’t you just keep your mouth shut?

I bet you money some egghead at sony realized that more senior citizens go to the movies over every other age and skewed the product towards them. Hence the reason every actor except tina is over the age of 45. Tina actress herself is too old for her part but thats besides the point. They spent more on wrinkle removal cg than action cg, (seriously they did.) Thats the reason the car only showed up once. This movie is the literal embodiment of the "hello young people" meme.
They had the best video game to do a movie adaptation of, they could've literally done whatever they wanted with the story. But somehow they reached a whole new level of bag fumbling.
yikes, I initialy theorized that this movie was made more for non-borderlands players but if it's rough to unberstand unless youve played the games... uh oh. watching it in a hour and a half, excited and afraid at the same time but im sure I 'll have fun even if its bad.
If you go into it with no expectations, and don't expect it to be canonical to the lore, you'll probably have a good time. I left with a smile on my face.
@@EpicNNGthat's not a bad way. Honestly I never really needed any video game movie to be super connected to the lore. Just be able to utilize it. Like how I never needed or thought the Mario movie needed to actively connect anything to a specific Mario game.
I hope you’re being 100% genuine with this opinion. Bc I have seen nothing but poor feedback and the last thing we want to do is encourage Gearbox to continue to make slop. BL4 will suffer if they think this movie was a success.
I really hope the theatre is empty when my friend and I go to see it. I want us to be able to heckle this movie appropriately without bothering other movie goers.
phew - though i am only one who enjoy it... maybe its my guilty plesure.. maybe its fact that i was overstressed and tired or maybe i just know how to switch off brain and enjoy silly movies - i did go knowing it will be bad. so i wasnt dissapointed. i agree with everyone who said its bad but cant say its the worste - (same week i saw minions 4 and new spongebob movie and boy oh boy.. borderlands is like masterpiece compare to them.
It felt very generic, with some Borderlands names/locations injected. None of the actors did a poor job in my opinion. They just weren’t given much to work with.
I doubt it'll affect BL4. If anything, maybe they'll change the story so there's way less cringy jokes and focus on actually making good characters and narrative unlike BL3's main story (DLCs were good) and New Tales.
I love the Borderlands games. All of them except the telltale or the presequel and I will love 4. I did t think I was going to like it. As a matter of fact I thought I was going to despise it. Besides the small story changes it was true to the characters. The lady playing Lilith nailed Liliths movements. I can't think if her name. The guy playing krieg nailed it. They changed the story but stayed true to the characters. I liked it
I watched it opening day... Is it the best movie ever no.. is it the worst movie definitely not. Lore accurate no.. but was it fun YES. I play borderlands to have FUN. It was a movie that was fun with characters I like on a planet that I like.
With regards to pacing in BL3, I didn't mind the length of the game. I do mind that the story didn't captivate me enough over that duration. If BL4 is just as long but better written with some actual stakes, that'd be cool.
Most people hating on it haven't even seen it. It was a generic modern action film. They dont stick to the source material that closely but there are tons of references. It wasn't super great or anything but I had a good time watching.
Went to see it with my friends a few days ago. We did have a fun time just hanging out, we got Wendy's afterwards and geeked out about other game franchises we love like Gears of War and Pokemon. But all 4 of us basically had the same opinion when we left the theater, it was shit lmfao. It just, wasn't good at all. Mindless brain slop. And I did go into the movie with about as low expectations knowing how modern BL writing is. BL3 main campaign was shit, the DLCs were shockingly good tho. But after those, Wonderlands was eh. And New Tales was just, just, like, fuck's sake. Just the worst. I'll give the movie one thing, it didn't top the travesty that was New Tales. But I still didn't like the movie. I understood they wanted to do their own thing, but said own thing was just boring. and PG-13, really? Fucking really? Jesus what has this franchise become. I hate being this invested in the lore of BL. But 1, 2, TPS, and Tales dragged me in.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm surprised to hear you talk about the props not being good. Some of the few things that got me kind of excited in the previews was seeing an Infinity pistol, a Torgue launcher, and the look of the light runner/outrunner. I thought it might be mildly entertaining with some accurate representations of items from the games. Since it has primarily BL1 cast, I was also kind of hoping for a disappointingly simple final act but I'll find out in a few days probably.
Watched the movie. Loved it. Kids loved it, too, though they don't play borderlands. Essentially, film critics are no help. Their job is to look for things that are wrong. Just go in with no expectation and enjoy.
I haven't watched it yet, I plan on watching it next week sometime, but why did it get a PG-13 rating? Borderlands is known for its over the top, edgy and crude humor, as well as the cartoonish blood and gore. I was almost certain it would get an R-rating. I know PG-13 films are open for a broader audience I suppose, but the problem is, it's very limited in what they can actually do. Very limited in terms of violence, very limited on dialogue, essentially everything is limited in terms of what is possible. This should have been an R rated movie through and through.
11:21 This is a huge issue I have with the moronic Hollywood industry when it comes to existing IP cinematic adaptations, *WHO ASKED FOR SOMETHING ELSE?!* , people are coming to see the IP represented on the big screen, not for a god damn skin walker that took the skin of the IP and made their own uninteresting trash. When, in the history of this god damn world, did doing this worked out well? I cannot think of a single example of a property that was adopted to the big screen and the directors actively ignored everything involving the IP other than maybe the most basic synopsis, some of the visuals and the names of the characters.
Well in fairness I suppose you could say the resident evil films. While not looked at positively critics wise. It seemingly made enough money to be a successful movie franchise up until the late 2010s. Even then I think the last one with Mila jovovicch did well enough. And I'm someone who dislikes those films but they kind of do answer your question
@@cryptodino3roberts712 Fair enough, unfortunately I haven't played the first few Resident Evil games, so I don't know how much of it there was to adopt in the first place. But I'd say that back in 1997(Constantin Film bought the rights back then) the gaming industry was tiny by comparison, so targeting the "general audience" made alot more sense, and since the first couple movies already split from the games there was no reason to adopt the rest of them more accurately as popularity grew. Though with the recent film maybe they should reboot it and try to adopt it closer to the games considering it was a flop. As a side note how is it that the last 3 films got a lower and lower budget -Resident Evil 2012 budget $65 million -Resident Evil 2017 budget $40 million -Resident Evil 2021 budget $25 million Usually it's the other way around 😅

The same movie where claptrap gets shot a million times and in order to get the excess lead out of his body he poops it all out? The same movie where the main characters notice a flower growing in the “caustic caverns” that isn’t even a cavern but just a sewer and claptrap shows up and starts dancing on the flower? Ever since the third game came out I wondered what happened to borderlands edgy and funny sense of humor, where did we go from borderlands 1 to new tales to the borderlands movie all the jokes feel overused “claptrap did something annoying he’s useless and needs help again, something cringe and embarrassing happened who could have seen that coming” and its people like you that happened. The bad sense of humor, toilet humor = funny, yes men to gearbox, bending over backwards shills that will make all the excuses in the world to defend this garbage movie.
I don't play video games for story or characters, which is probably why I don't enjoy reading books or watching movies or TV shows, so books, movies and TV shows based on video games I play just don't interest me, I'd rather just play the games these things are based off of, which is why skipping cutscenes are a must for video games imo

Watched the movie today. And I agree with you, I thought the movie was pretty good. TBH I think that it would have done better as a series, so that there was more runtime to explain things and not make changes to the story from the game.
from everything ive read and heard, for Borderlands players its like a 5, maybe a 6, but for everyone else its like a 3 or a 4 which is actually higher than i expected
Me as borderlands fan, its a solid 8 if we are talking about game adaptations. They did a lot more than only recreating few scenes from games like TLOU show, or pathethic Prince of Persia, Resident Evil Welcome in Raccon etc. Dont expect Nolan or Eastwood level of directing / cinematography and will be ok. Typical movie to watch at friday night just to dont remember it next day. Nothing new, nothing old, but fans should be pleased. Left cinema with possitive attidute, expected a lot worse than i imagined and been suprisingly shocked. Dont listen losers whos been crying like casting is bad, Hart nailed role same as B Jack and Blanchett. They are hating just to hate.

No, I hate TV shows, it's just a dragged out lower budget version of a movie, I only watch movies, the last TV show I watched was in 2019, and before that was 2014, movies are just more digestable and are much higher quality due to having bigger budgets, TV shows are just way too time consuming, time I could be spending doing something I actually enjoy, like playing video games, movies are great, it only takes a couple hours and then I can play a video games, just a single season of a TV show is like a 10 hour investment, and they usually aren't engaging at all, it's usually so boring, which explains why I'm a gameplay over story person when it comes to video games, I do think story in video games is important but not when it gets in the way of gameplay, which is the whole point of a video game
@@mathewhosier9739 Completely fine opinion and I get what you mean. But it would fix the main issue he said he had with the movie, that it rushed through plot points. It would have plenty of time to go through the story and the characters without feeling rushed and if it looking lower budget is an issue then just make it animated.
I watched it earlier today and I agree to everything eventhough I think that cate blanchet doesnt fit lilith but her acting was still good I especially agree on the pacing *spoilers ahead* - - - - - - - - - - They literally took so long to introduce the characters and build them up toegther as a group and then just like that snap vault key no 1 , vault key no 2 and the last one ist actually right here and the vault itself is infornt of my house right there I felt like they forgot the story in the movie like someone randomly said "yo guys the movies btw only 1h40 minutes" after they shot the first hour as imo a very good introduction This could have been a very good film if it was longer like the story doesnt even have to be mindbobbling just let atlas tale tina and let them try to free tina they get trapped and atlas finds out tina isnt the last key so lilith finds out she is it somehow let her open the vault for them in exchange and we have the same end scenes like why tf was it soooooo short (atleast it felt like it) 😢
I never really pay attention to tomato scores anymore. So many people review bomb shows and movies after they form a prejudice the minute it is announced online.
