This is the type plane that I would like to learn to fly and purchase. I’m 60 so my dream of being a pilot is over, but this would be it. I enjoy bush piloting videos most. It’s simple flying with nature. Two of my favorite things.

That's cool you were at my home airport Kingman, Az . I live in Benton Ark now, but did an almost 30 year fire department career there. The Hualapai Mountains you flew over, spent many a days hiking up there with family when we lived there, and the cavern's I worked in Peach Springs part time as a Paramedic and we covered grand canyon west and caverns as well. Cool flight, I never got a chance to get my PPL when in Kingman, hopefully that will happen, or at least Sport Pilot someday before I am too old.

Having your own plane is incredible. When it sux is when for reasons unknown it just stops working. We just had some stupid cold weather, I am a meteorologist I can tell you for a fact it was stupid cold. My plane fowled out 8 plugs and my #2 com radio died. Radio was $2,000 and plugs just under $300. But in a few months when I am sick of winter, I think a day trip from Columbus, Ohio to someplace warm will likely happen.

Great to see Chelsea REALLY enjoying a flight at last - really happy for you both! 😎😎 As an old avionics tech, its also great to see you're on your way on eliminating that constant tsz-tsz-tsz radio interference - by cycling power to the transponder 1:45 - BINGO! 🤓As I mentioned in my PM before Christmas: my guess was the comm antenna being belly mounted, (iso Kitfox standard: top-mounted, just aft of the baggage bag) was likely going to put it much close to the transponder antenna*. Now that I've seen at 5:20 that both comm and txpndr antenna are indeed mounted much closer together than is typical** or ideal - the issue is ALMOST CERTAINLY the transponder's 150 - 250W (peak) radiated power is literally blasting the comm radio's receiver circuit. When you consider a typical comm radio outputs 10 - 16W into its antenna, and the received signal it amplifies is orders of magnitude less, the directly radiated noise from the transponder isn't too surprising. To eliminate that noise, I'd suggest you make up a coax cable extension - or if its currently only cheap RG58 coax, replace the entire length with industry std double screened RG400 (Spruce and Specialty stocks a reputable brand of RG400) and remount your transponder antenna in the middle of an aluminum plate of 5.4" MINIMUM diameter (or square/rectangular, it matters not) - mounted INTERNALLY (at least temporarily), as far aft and low down as you can comfortably work. After relocating it, get a local radar facility to check they're receiving your squawk and job done. For fully optimal, you might consider eventually re-mounting it externally to the aft fuse, but this will at least confirm the issue. You should also give the factory a call too, to get their latest advice from all the avionics they install in the factory built Kitfoxes: either Brandon or John should be able to help. BTW, that was an interesting result you got placing ferrite beads on the camera power cable(s) - often done to prevent noise generated by switch-mode power supplies from leaving the equipment and being radiated locally. Why it resulted in massive levels of noise in a recording would be interesting to dig into, but bottom line is: quality electronics manufacturers WILL either sufficiently filter this noise before it escapes the equipment, if only in order to meet FCC (radiated noise) approval requirements, or if they can't they'll incorporate sufficient ferrite beads in the power and data cables they supply with a product. Some of the worst culprits for adding noise to light aircraft are the super-cheap cigar-lighter-socket USB power supplies - there's plenty on YT by electronics engineering channels for anyone interested. * Txpndr antenna on GA aircraft are almost always mounted on the aircraft's belly for better reception by a SSR ground station. That said, ADS-B requires top and bottom mounted txpndr antennas, at least on larger aircraft. ** Compare your comm/txpndr antenna location proximity with that of other small certified GA aircraft like C152 C172.

If your wife has interest in seeing it, I think it’d be worth your time. Especially since you live so close. I appreciate the info on how to become a missionary pilot. I also disagree with the China comment. iPads and iPhones are made from glass and metal in China, and in my experience last a long time, especially if you take care of the battery.

You might want to try a "low-cut" (a.k.a. "high-pass") noise filter in the audio line. It dampens ground-loop static hiss. I can't say for sure it will work, but they usually only cost around $15. Ferris coils (donuts) are for induced interference noise and since they aren't helping that's not what's going on.

Lots of radio noise is caused by bad grounds and/or poor alternator/generator power filtering. Bad grounds on antennas and radios, can reduce the range of radios and induce noise. Capacitors and/or diodes can filter out engine noise...which is usually alternator noise...but it can be ignition noise. Auto stereo shops are a great place to start for noise filters. Unfortunately, aircraft have one more, much more difficult to solve radio problem...background noise. There probably is no 'one size fits all' noise fix. You just have to tackle them one at a time. Good luck.

Didn’t watch your previous videos yet but I would look at your headset wiring and check for proper shielding, grounding and possible ground loops. It’s not difficult to do proper and well worth it. That’s where many home builders cut corners and get audio issues.

Checked the little shed on google earth. On the back there's a sign "Horseback rides and over night cowboy camping here!". I suppose that's what it used to be for...?!

Just curious what app or website are you using when you were flying near the grand canyon and it showed the blocked areas

interesting drone shot of your landing. How do you do that? Not very tech savy on that stuff.
