I loved how he stayed on the sidewalk instead of running around in a panic on the streets. He even crossed at the corner! This is one smart fella. Thanks for sharing.
Ironically, at this time of year, it is safer for him on city streets than a few miles out of town. This old guy has been around the block a few times.
I thought for sure he was going to eat those pumkins! He does seem like a wise old guy...using the sidewalk and not freaking out about traffic. I hope he has a long life!
Katrina Demiri, "amazing" is one thing to call their loss of habitat, so that you "do not have to pay to go see them at a zoo" Hmmm, interesting thinking ...maybe try from the animals point of view
This one is a wise old fella. Avoids the hunters by being in town. Understands car traffic, so he has probably done this before. He wont be anyone trophy any time soon i dont think.
agree. He looks like an old moose dude. Anybody have a guess on his age? And do the die naturally from old age? Or do the elders, if not killed by a hunter, die from being beaten down by a younger stronger bull moose?
That's the big boss. He's just minding his own business. Smooth on his feet. Just walking down the street. Looks like he's been here many times before.
If the moose population in Alaska is healthy enough that large males like this can be seen in urban areas like Anchorage, that is a very good thing. In other places in Canada and the US, moose are under threat from many different factors. The more moose, the better! Long live the magnificent moose!
@Ron Pleake moose, like (most animals) don't think about anything besides eating, shitting, sleeping, and fucking. It doesn't have any meaningful thoughts about me or anyone other human unless it's "is that a tree"
Wow... what a magnificent and beautiful animal. I'm thankful that its smart enough to stay out of the road. Since I have never seen a moose in person, I have now come to realize how massive these animals are compared to us... let alone a car.
Years ago a neighbor of mine had a set on antlers he had brought from Alaska. They were huge and weighed a ton. Those moose must have some crazy neck muscles.
I was born in Seward, Alaska, and enjoy these videos of animals able to wander thru the communities and NOT be bothered by stupid humans. I do not mean some of the animals, but please give care to all!!
I seen one close up in December of 2017. It was huge like this one. First time to Anchorage. First time ever seeing moose. Scared the daylights outta me.
Not sure so much about good health, there appears to be a sore on his right rear leg and he's also limping on that leg. Also a pretty nasty scar on his right side.
This is a beautiful moose. He just gracefully glides through the neighborhood not bothered by anything. The residents carry on with their business and don't even seem to notice him. Of course this is an ordinary occurrence in Alaska. If I encountered that where I live I would be terrified that it may charge at my car. I can only imagine how much damage would be caused if you strike one with your car. I hit an ordinary white tail deer with my Corolla several years ago and sustained over $5000 in damages.
* Saw one ( a cow ) total a van in Ontario one summer evening. The RCMP had to put the moose out of her misery. The Canadian Moose in Ontario are not as large as the Alaskan/Yukon sub species.
Such an amazing clip! He knows more pedestrian laws than knuckleheads in Ontario. Also good to see no one screwing with him although he could put a world of hurt on anyone getting in his way.. keep em coming!
It seems like no matter how long people live in Alaska, they still take pictures of a moose walking down the street lol… My husband and I went on an Alaskan cruise a couple of times, we didn’t see any moose or bears, we saw a lot of Eagles though.. ( We saw more moose and bison in Montana)…then we had to take a two hour train ride to Anchorage and we had two days to spend time in Anchorage and then fly back to Southern California. We loved it there in Anchorage, we met a lot of cool people working at the shops and restaurants we went to and the hotel we stayed at. We were there in late August so luckily the weather was perfect, not too cold or freezing! Lol 😉
I've watched several videos and moose do not seem to be afraid of anything they just walk in stride To not looking around or panicking or anything How Majestic
Summer of '74 I made friends with a bull moose in my Anchorage neighborhood (College Gate) by feeding him apples. After 3 days I would walk into the woods and find him waiting for me.
Mary had a great big moose, great big moose, great big moose, Mary had a great big moose who fur was chocolate brown. I was impressed by how he knew that he should walk on the sidewalk, not in the middle of the road. Apparently traffic safety is something that this moose learned in school.
In Canada as I was fishing in a canoe I came a across a moose mom and her calf I will never forget the scene as long as I live just grazing along the shore peacefully
He's just casually taking a little promenad around the neighborhood... Omg this is wild, we got these guys too where I live but never have I ever seen one like this. Reindeers do that tho
