I Found New York's Smallest Loft... and It's Cheap

This Super Cool Loft Is Really Cheap, but not everyone's going to love it. That being said im in the fan camp because its got a private deck which is huge, and laundry, and its super sunny. What more could you ask for in NYC? So many apartments are basic, boring and ugly but this one is gorgeous and unique. Take a look at this nyc loft apartment tour and let me know what you think.

But that's what NYC apartments are like. I live in the city, have a 500 square foot Studio condo, with a wall of windows and a decent view that make it feel bigger. I have a nice galley kitchen with full sized appliances. I hardly use the kitchen. I feel blessed. I have good closet space, one of the first things I considered when looking at places. You need a lot of clothes in this climate. I live alone. The amount of space I live in is typically divided up into a one bedroom here, but that feels cramped to me. I like things more open. My fiancee owns a two bedroom in the building, just over a thousand square feet.

Hard decision between the two bedroom apartments. You would definitely have to spend a lot of time on that deck in the last one because the living area feels cramped. The trees in the second apartment bring a little bit of nature to the setting. ☮️

First apt was great! Def the best of the 3 shown. The last one should be a 1 br & the area farthest from the kitchen should be the living area. I just can't imagine having to trek up stairs to grill. What a hassle. So spoiled living in CA where there's abundant outdoor space. Even if the apt is small, it usually has a patio and/or a balcony off the living area so grilling is convenient.

Do love all the exposed brick with these; the two-bedrooms are tough because I'm a sucker for a more nature-oriented view, but the last one does have that deck... Actually decently priced for that part of Manhattan, though they could do with more space and at least an elevator in the last one; can't imagine trying to get furniture up all those stairs... The first apartment has a nice kitchen and bathroom. I'm not a fan of windowless living rooms, though, and the bedroom is rather small. The second apartment is a better value. The living room is really a hallway, but the bedrooms are nice and look out at trees, so hanging out in your room is fine. The closets are small though, but that could encourage the tenants to live more minimally, I didn't catch the rent for the third apartment, but it's similar in layout to the second, providing nice bedrooms and a little more closet space. The bathroom is also bigger. What sets it apart is the roof deck, which can be used pretty much eight months out of the year.

All 3 apartments get a thumbs up. One thing to note...in the 3rd apartment, you could get a double drop leaf table (like the Ikea Norden gateleg table) and store it under the stairs going to the deck. In this way you can have it 1/2 set up with one chair under the stairs, both leaves down and stored flat or if you have company, pull the whole thing out for extra space. If you're not interested in a table, a rolling kitchen cart stored in the same spot would be useful. The kitchen has a lot of appliances however it has zero counterspace.

@Cash Jordan I don’t see that you ever reply to some comments but I’m SUPER SUPER excited about this one! It was just yesterday that I commented that I get excited when you get NEAR my old neighborhoods but in this video you were in my old building. The second apartment @4:41 is my old building where I grew up as a kid! Many members of my family lived in that building (mom, aunt and older brother). My grand parents lived in the building next door ( on the right side when facing the building) but that building no longer exists. It’s now a “garden”. Ok, so my excitement may seem silly but I’m 58 yrs old and no longer live in NY so, yeah, it was SPECIAL to me. Oh, btw, the reason I know that IS my old building is bc the front facade has not changed a bit however the interior has. That second apartment is 212 E. 105 St. I couldn’t tell which apartment number. You just made this lady a happy lady. 😁😁😁

It's interesting what New Yorkers priorities must be (at least according to landlords) - big, new appliances, wine fridges, updated bathrooms. And then there's the things you can live without - kitchen counter space, actual entertaining space, closet space, breathing space. Perhaps living in a city with all of the high rises makes it normal to not expect much space anywhere. It's fun to see it all, but it's definitely not for me.

My first NYC apartment (back in 1977) was on East 75th between 1st and 2nd -- 6th floor walk-up with the tub in the kitchen and toilet in the hallway outside (but it was for my use only). The bedroom was just big enough for a full-sized bed, but fortunately the previous tenant had installed and left a loft bed, so the floor area was clear. The best part? It was $180/month -- woot!

I pay $1,500 a month and have a three bedroom one bath 1,200 square foot 110-year-old Craftsman bungalow with a fenced yard. Lots of space for gardening and already had three existing raised beds. Washer, dryer, dishwasher. All beautiful wood floors. I'm within walking distance of the downtown area with all kinds of restaurants and great shops, a historic theater, an organic grocery store, the library. Also a second grocery store on the way to there.

The first apartment got points for laundry and high grade finishes, but lower grades for the small bedroom and the lack of sunlight, and it's a walkup. The second apartment gets points for the laundry and nice finishes, but everything is too cramped to share. The third one has the same pluses and minuses, but the benefits of the rooftop deck are cancelled by the seriously-walkup location of the unit. BTW, a small bathroom is not a major problem since its use is usually not a group activity - except with very, very good friends.

Interesting apartments. What's with beverage coolers? Liked the apt with the trees outside the windows. Very calming and relaxing and better than looking into a building airshaft. Nice decks also. I could live in any of those apts and be happy. They did an excellent job with the renovations. A little more room would be nice, but then again, that would sky-rocket the rents, and, you really get used to small spaces living in the city. It's only when you have company from out of state that they ask you where the rest of the apt is, and you reply "this is it, the whole thing in a nutshell"..lol.

Oh God yes I like of prescription that might fit lol... I liked the woods view instead of the trap in-between the building with the 20x 30 feet or smaller look

That second place overlooks a playground/school, no thank you. That first one was really cute.

These places are very nice. That part of East Harlem is also pretty nice. Can’t wait to afford something similar in the future

In these apartments there are nice modern appliances and fixtures and cabinetry, BUT they are wrongly placed: 1. beverage cooler right next to the bathroom; 2. kitchen right next to the bathroom door, and laundry machines next to the fridge; 3. Again, laundry machines, beverage cooler, and bathroom placement issues. The layouts of all three are not put well together.

I agree that the living space for all three apartments is small and the kitchens are tight. In any case, the third apartment is the most suitable except for the walkup.

Having lived in Seattle, I don't mind a darker apartment, but wouldn't you have more noise from an interior unit than one facing the street? Wouldn't you hear everyone's music, arguments, TV, etc., especially in the summer with open windows?

Nice and entertaining videos as usual....The apartments are all nicely done, the first one, although a bit dark has a nice kitchen with real counter space ( the second one has no more than 3 inches of counter around the sink), nice living and bedroom. I suppose on the 2 bedroom apts. one could put a Murphy bed with a fold-down table attached to it and use it as dinning room and office while not sleeping, which is most of the time we're awaken.....as for the closets, may be one or two can hold any cloths at all, the "skinny" ones are good for two winter coats and a couple of suits that's it, I wonder where people who rent those apts. keep their clothes.....

Hi Cash hope you're doing okay in New York! I was wondering if someone from outside of the US (I'm from Sweden btw) where to move to New York, what are some "good things to know" from the perspective from someone who's working in Real Estate (I hope I got that right) & someone who's been living in NY for some time? Take care!
