It's unfortunate that in some schools concepts are taught with just plain memorization and no fundamental understanding whatsoever, but in other schools it isn't that way. Also the comment was just a joke, my parents don't tell me to study. I just sit at my desk studying and get the best grades I can.

Genetics plays a huge role in IQ. There’s not gonna be very much genetic variance in north and South Koreans from the 80 years we’ve been separated. So wherever South Korea is, north shouldn’t be too far off.

Lots of people would rather play video games and rage for 2 hours than read a book for 20 minutes. As a Singaporean, I don't think we're smart. Its more like we're forced to study so much that there really isn't a choice for how high our IQ is(?) We really just study a lot and I guess it pays off somewhat.
