Sometimes I go in my room and shut the door and sit down in utter silence. Just sit there. And stare...with my eyes closed! And don't move. Because...I've given the day all I've got.

Yes, the door was my saving grace, because sometimes I had to just cry and scream in my pillow. Sometimes I had to get away from the constant "stop touching me," " get out of my room," "what you looking at me for," "I'm going to tell on you" and all the other things that my children would scream. I know that's right!!! As a single mom, man, so real!!! The bathroom was my escape!!! One of the main reasons my 25 and 28 yr old sons made it to adulthood was because I could escape to the bathroom, lock the door, sit on the throne, and pray to God for strength and at least 10 minutes of peace and deep breathing!!!! It most definitely spared their backsides many a times😂😂😂

ALL. OF. THIS!!!! And my kids are 34 & 32! My room is my Happy Place. My son lives with me but he does his own thing and helps me out. My daughter isn’t at home and she’s working and going to school and what not. Just something about being in my room brings me peace. They talk about me always wanting to be at home and in my room but in my younger years, I spent so much time out of the house, the pandemic helped me to realize that there, indeed, is no place like home!! I am finally able to enjoy the house I pay for!! There are times when I need to cry a good cry, pray, and my room (though I don’t close the door until bedtime) is one of the most peaceful places where I can talk to GOD and actually get some direction about things going on in my life. Me being in my room has also saved lives!

My kids knew not to knock on my door unless someone was bleeding dead or dying. Of course all needs were met before I shut the door, and we had a conversation over what was important and what was not. Asking for a snack was Not!

I raised twins alone. People still ask me how? How? My advice is and ALWAYS will be, go into your room, it will save a WHOLE LOTTA lives! My twins are 19 and to this day sometimes I just go sit in the bathroom on the toilet 😂😂 not using the bathroom it's just I had to put another door, between us and the bedroom door. The bedroom door it wasn't enough security. And since I don't shower well with others, I would not do well in prison 🤷🏾‍♀️ so it's really a safety thing. 😂

Y’all no lies are being told here. LAST WEEK I asked my husband if we can start closing our door. He was like why? No, I don’t think we really need to. I was a kid and begged for a lock on my door and kept my door closed all the time, everyone knew not to come into my room if it was closed, don't even knock on the door... y'all this old JUST keeping your doors closed/locked? Shoot, even if no one is home, my door is closed. Shoot, I can't even sleep right if my door is open. There's just this peace from it. My mother never keeps her door closed. She has to be able to see everything going on, so it didn't come from my mother, lol.
