I paid $18,000 for mine in 8/2019 in Silicon Valley. You’re not kidding about the repair costs, wow! You’ve showed me some features I didn’t know about, thanks! Like the butt massager and those wedges you put your feet on. The wedges were in the trunk and I had no clue what they were for! Thanks! :)
Yes love the f01 i have a 740d awesome car quality just amazing been a bmw driver for 8yrs and never had a 7 serie until now and i am happy think im always gonna drive a 7 serie now just the way it feels and handles so comfortable !
You the man bro you did perfect lol I had a 07 years ago I’m about to grab me a 2011 also but best part is make sure you have the money to maintain lol
Hello, I’m very interested on the 740 2011-12, how much it’s approximately the cost of maintaining the car? Cause the price it’s really good now but I’m really scared of the things that may go wrong
@@Giandoria I’m getn a 740 li 2011 next week I hear it’s a lot more reliable and less costly than the 750 cause it’s different engine I guess I’ll find out soon
I owned one for 3 years. It was a good car. You have to perform more frequent oil changes than the manual suggests. The reason is that the V8 has an unusual design where the turbochargers are nestled between the cylinder banks. It get very hot in there and the oil gets extremely hot.
@@uchiha_onthemoon9812 I’ve never owned a BMW out of warranty. LOL, but honestly it was pretty reliable and I had no engine trouble. I think frequent oil changes are a must. Don’t let the car idle for any length of time. Also, when coming off the highway, let the car idle in park for a couple of minutes to let the turbo cool off a little.
@@shadynasty6393 With a big V8 motor, there is no good place to put the turbos. It will get hot. My new car, BMW M2, has a straight 6 and there is plenty of room for the single turbo. The M2 does not have the heat issue.
F02 740i here, 110k miles, still has nerve racking issues (minor ones, bit which lead to some expenses) like replacing a brake module twice, turns out it was only the faulty voltage into the plug going into the module, or squeaking cluncking front suspension which in fact were the brake pad springs, those 10$ pieces of metal sheet the secure the pads, etc...but nothing major so far. So if you want reliability, go for the the N54 instead.
There's a nice-looking 2010 750Li for sale ($6,500) that has me tempted. it has 140k on it. The seller says it's been well maintained, but needs some new hoses. I can't affored major repairs, however. I've already spent a lot on my other vehicles this year. Anyway, thanks for this video. Maybe now is not the time, but I'll keep en eye out for something down the road.
I almost bought one exactly like yours except it's in pearl white... low mileage....but I didn't like the price agreement... so I bailed out.... now I'm very happy with my Lexus LS460L fully loaded except Execute Backseat.... big long heavy quiet reliable......
I have one bought it last year in april,so far i have replaced the transmission oil ( ZF brand fluid and sleeves),replaced air filter,Pcv valves,New batterie,Lower it with H&R springs, changed wheels from 20 inchs factory original to 21 inch 128 style wheels and now i want to change the 2 front control arms i already bought the parts..car is looking gorgeous drives and runs excellent but i have a traction control light on i have changed all 4 wheels speed sensors..the light still there wont go away,so i drive it like that anyway but the power has been reduced.
This is f02 not f01 F01- 730d/740d/740i/750i F02- 730Ld/740Ld/740Li/750Li/760Li F03- 750Li High Security/760Li High Security F04- ActiveHybrid 750i/ActiveHybrid 750Li
Very Recently got a 750li, for a really low price, it has 70k km which is around 35-45k miles so not even that high on mileage, there are some issues with the car including the i drive not turning on, but the car sounds great and boi is it luxurious and fun to drive, but fuel costs are the pain rn
11 thru 15 is when this 7 series was at its prettiest externally! Not until 2021 has it looked appealing. Now im looking at these for a used car, its between this and the s63...
I purchased mine in 2019 love it, it had 33,000 miles at purchase and at 52,000 I started to hear a faint noise in the dash area I took it to BMW and they advised me the engine was going bad at 52,000 miles it's a 115,000 car how on earth is it going bad, so we had purchased the bumper to bumper warranty and the warranty company purchased us a brand new in the crate engine, no questions asked, BMW did the swap out so at their labor rate you can only imagine the cost to swap for the engine and the labor was anyways today i have like 35,000 miles on the new engine and it runs like new, love love the car 2011 750 LI Used to be a corporate car has TV DVD in the back seats car is plain gorgeous and with a new engine you can only imagine.
Nice looking car. F01 is 750i, the 750Li is F02. BMW changed from the N63 to the N63tu late 2013 which "allegedly" fixed the oil issue and added almost 50hp. The tu engine wasn't applicable for the "care program" so beware. A 3rd party warranty is A MUST!
Spooge gargler yes indeed, an extra 50hp added. And other revisions: In 2012, a "Technical Update" was applied to the N63, resulting in the N63TU variants (also known as N63B44O1). The main upgrade was the addition of Valvetronic. Other changes include revised turbochargers, removal of the blowoff valve, lighter pistons, forged connecting rods and crankshaft, addition of a valve cover labyrinth oil catch/return system, new valve stem seals, revised fuel system and addition of a second coolant pump.
Do these 750li come in manual transmission or auto only? I’m new to bmw tech . Looking for a e92 or this beautiful 750li . I just like Manuel cars better but if it comes auto , I’ll still take it 👍🏽
Do you still have this car bro? And any other issues or running good now? Bought a 2013 740li xdrive with 97k miles and already did the drive belt and doing the heating box next due to the passenger heater giving out. Bmw quoted me 5k
Bought a 2011 750iM a few months ago with 32000 miles. Steal of a deal. Looking at the 4x4 shop Canada apple car play upgrade - would be awesome if you did a review ;)
Mann I'm stuck on a BMW 750i 2013 OR mercedes 2016 CLA 250... I see a lot of people say the 750i is unreliable and that the CLA 250 is garbage and gets a lot of hate... Any input?
2013 has 2nd gen engine with many improvements so you’ll have less issues. 2016 was 3rd gen engine. I personally would get a 2013 750 over a 2016 CLA 250
I bought an X5 5.0I which has the same exact engine as the 750. My X5 leaked oil all over the place and I have a BMW mechanic I take it to for maintenance. He told me it would be a waste of time getting it fixed because the parts that are available to fix the V8 X5 and 7 series 750 V8 cars are the same exact malfunctioning parts. Point is down the road the same thing will happen all over again because BMW never really fixed the problem. But if you buy a 2014 and newer supposedly that's when they redesign the engine and that particular problem went away. But now all the newer models have a new set of problems. But that's just the history of BMW.
Depends on the parts. For example the injectors you get today are revision 7 compared to older ones. Idk about other parts. Our car has been rock solid after replacement. There are also people with 120k+ miles on these engines with no oil leak issues so it doesn’t affect every single car. 2014 has revision 2 for engine and 2016+ has revision 3. 2016 models will be most reliable.
@@cs.studios - It just sucks that none of those common issues were on a "recall" list. Bad mechanical engineering is nothing new in the Auto industry but it's not the buyer's fault BMW made a bad design. I guess BMW probably would have done some recalls, but it would have cost them more money having all those customers bring their cars in for free repairs that cost thousands to fix.
Beautiful car but came equipped with the dreaded/infamous N63 engine which is a ticking time bomb. I own a 2013 740li and my first must have when i was looking for a 7 series of this era was the 6 cylinder engine for its reliability. Currently at 160k and the engine runs like new and burns no oil whatsoever and its on a stage 1 tune so the power is very good. This is not an F01 its an F02 btw.
Yes I made a mistake that it’s F01, I think I say F02 in the video though. After engine replacement we haven’t had any issues. To be fair our engine issue wasn’t too bad, ours mainly just consumed more than normal amounts of oil but other than that was solid
This car the N63 engine, which was know for issues. Get the late 2013-2015 with the N63TU engine (technical update) which solved most if not all previous issues. I just got one with 37K miles on it, with M sport package. Awesome car.
Idk what the previous owners did but that’s how they were and looking online other people seem to say it’s the paint bmw used. My E46 and F06 are fine though
@@christopherely4364 Ceramic option came with G series. They are not exactly buttons, but a ceramic touch sensors. I have those on my G11 and I dont really like them as they dont have tactile feedback and you can't go by the had feel but have to look at your input. My F01 never had any issues with buttons wearing out, nor my E38 which I still have. Wife's Mercedes GLE has similar issue and also a lot of scratches on outside door handles so my guess is that it is an issue of operating buttons with fingernails that damage them.
Contrary to the conventional wisdom that these cars are money pits, they can actually be great deals as long as you do your homework, look for low mileage one or two owner cars (many owners can signal the car has issues and people are dumping it on someone else ASAP). I bought a 2015 in 2019, have drove the hell out of it (cross country twice), over 80k miles now, and no issues at all rather than regular maintenance.
This one was one owner. It’s working good now. We even drove it to LA back and forth in one day to pick up my M6. Once it’s been maintained they work well and a lot of stuff is covered under the n63 care package you just need good relation with a dealer to get the best use of it
N52 just has timing chain issue. If you fix that then it’s not that bad of an engine. The v8 models from 2012+ are better than the 2011 and older ones. The 2016 v8 are the 3rd revision and more reliable
At that price I’d have to be in very good condition and nearly fully loaded. Check oil level to make sure it’s full. See if things like the injectors were replaced. If some repairs were made under bmw care package sure but if not then 111k miles is close to the 120k coverage of the program so you’d have to pay most of the repairs. Make sure there’s no check control errors. If you have ista and a enet cable you can check for stored codes as well.
What engine is in the 2010 750i xdrive version? N63 or this so called foh engine. The sales men says its been survived over 50 times. He has trader info documents. Please help, dont know anything about bmw. Soon to be a first time owner. Getting nervous after findout that bmw stands for break my wallet. 😮
The V8 model can be hit and miss. You are covered by customer care package if the car has less than 120k miles and it’s useful to have good relation with a bmw dealer
Hey, im thinking about buying a 2012 750I M Sport with the v8 engine, has 120000km on it, the owner was a mechanic and kept really good care of this car, oil changes ever 6000km, what do you think? should I go for it?
We had to replace injectors and coils. Also had transmission malfunction and replaced transmission. Car has damn near new engine and tranny so we hope it lasts a long time
Yeah ask your dealer about it. They will do oil consumption test 3 times and if it’s losing a specific amount of oil, you are eligible for some parts either free or paid at discount
There is no leaks of oil and i changed the pcv valves but I read that maybe the turbos are causing smoke and oil consumption when it too hot on idle , the car does tun great has power still but thats the only thing only on idle it smoke
You need to go to the dealer and tell them you are having oil consumption issues. If it’s a 750 V8 with N63 engine there should be a bmw care package program for your car.
Last year I was this close to buying the '12 750Li M-Sport of someone that said it was in great condition... The moment I saw it, didn't looked like the pictures as I could see some cosmetic flaws..... But what really turned me off and ran the other way "quicker than an Al Bundy", was the moment he turned the car on and withing a minute I could see that famous 'BLUE SMOKE' coming out of the exhausts! Blue smoke of death, meaning all the valves seals were blown as this would be a $1,300 - $2,000 job! Hell mothaphk'n NO! No wonder the owner was having trouble selling it, even when he got desperate and offer it to sell it to me for $7,000 cash I still said "Hell Nah".... You basically can't do work on your own on these 7 series do to having little to no space to work on them. Turbos inside the damn engine is a failure right from the start! Stay away from any 7 series, not worth it even used.... the F10 5 series M-Sport models are the perfect BMW as these are soo manly looking and always turn heads! Oh and easy to do work on them saving you a sheet load of cash along the way! Ran straight to a gorgeous 535i M-Sport Carbon Black Metallic (2 colors i 1) all Black on Black with very low miles and all I had to do was just some minor upgrades and all its maintenance that need to be done.... Never looked back! The 5 series is BMW's most reliable sedan they ever make!
Except the 550i has the same engine and issues as 750i. 740 doesn’t have the 750 issues. 650 is also included. Really depends on the engine not the chassis imo
The 750 series uses the v8 design which does have its share of problems but if you buy a car that has the work done it’s generally reliable. Another option would be to get a loaded 740i with the 6 cylinder engine. Ours is still going strong after the engine work
Yikes on those repairs. A transmission at 75K miles?.. BMW should have been ashamed of those V8 engine issues....they are helping people, but still that is why the value of the cars falls so fast
Yeah but the price compared to buying new is very attractive for what you get even with repairs. Their 2nd gen N63T engine and the newer 8 speed transmission is much more reliable
Got a 09 750 Li and it’s a lemon… nothing but problems.. don’t forget about the control arms go bad in the 7 series also. Stay far away from them they are very problematic….
That's why you have to do your research before you buy a foreign!! Did you not check out the car first at a mechanic before you bought it?? Can't believe they told you "Everything works!" and you fell for it!! 🙄
The oil consumption issue took BMW dealer 3 months to approve. The injectors leaking required the mechanic to open up the engine and use a camera to see it was leaking oil. The transmission issue was apparent when it happened but it took over a month after buying the car to have transmission issues. The car when bought was fine and had no codes on the computer. Hopefully people watching this will be educated on the issues and ways to get them fixed. I definitely researched my options and found the care package and hope others will be aware of them as well. This is my 4th BMW so I know what I was getting myself into, just not as much as I expected.
You didn't have warranty on the car ..i bought mine a 2015 with 80k miles on it for 12k...an it has a warranty that i even extended after a year...everything that has went wrong with the car i have gotten fixed threw warranty an didn't pay anything except the co pay which is 45 bucks ....i took care of breaks an oil change an thats it ..id never buy one of these or any luxury high end car without a warranty...thats a 100% no go
