The triple means it has 3 cylinders. One spark plug per cylinder so there should be three spark plugs. That's good it's a triple cylinder because those are powerful engines.
Great video - just bought a cheap 96 Polaris slx this summer to fix. Looking forward to seeing your progress. That looks like an amazing ski to get for free - good find!
To clean up the stuff in the foot wells you can use vinegar and powderd bleach. Mix vinegar with the powdered bleach in a bottle and shake it up the put it on a kitchen sponge and scrup away. I used this method to clean the bottom of my boat that had been sitting in salt water for a couple of years
Also check to make sure there is no oil injection before you mix the oil with the fuel and I would suggest taking the plugs out and checking if they’re corroded because if they are then that’s no good.
Grandparents use to own a cottage on Lake Michigan. We had 2 of these exact skis. They are great machines and probably the most fun ones they have owned.
I have the same ski but mine is a 97. Make sure you check the oil injection pump lines and make sure none of them are cracked or broken. Without the oil injection working you can say bye to that engine. Since it’s been sitting I would definitely check it.
Use the soap brand Awesome® for the rubber mats, its an ultra saturated cleaner that can get anything back to its original color. Be careful tho if you read this and decide to do it because it could take the adhesive off
i Just watched you video, and i am actually working on restoring a 96 yamaha wave venture i got for free myself. after rebuilding the carbs and some deep cleaning and restoration i was able to get the ski out on the water but unfortunately i learned the hard way that bad dirty fuel can truly screw up those carbs and they are a pain to remove rebuild and put back. So back to square one with the carbs but hopefully after a cleaning an rebuild ill have it running and back out on the water. Since your doing this restoration i was wondering if you would be interested in trading some notes im pretty decent with auto mechanics but this is my first water craft restoration and since your building the same ski its possible we can learn a thing or two. If your interested shoot me a message.
I would convert your jet ski to pre mix cuz if the oil pump fails or clogs your whole engine will blow up they sell kits for it most ppl do that and u make sure it’s getting enough oil
Coworker gave me a 2002 yamaha xlt 1200 with trailer for free. I havent try starring it yet because constantly working. Looking forward to messing with it next weekend. Im new to this so any tips would be appreciated
The blue hose is also to flush it so when you take it to the ocean you can use that to get the salt out of it and you should do it every time it goes into salt water
Use toilet bowl cleaner that will work really good but you have to make sure to wash off the trailer after or wash off like the paint or anything because it will strip off all that paint
What u show in 5:50 is something you use to flush the jetski you have to turn the jetski on and then turn the water on because if not there will be water coming in and mixing with the oil also before you use the start button you have to put in a small key in the knob where the start button is but in a flash you can use you’re fingers to gently pull it up
The 1100 Triple means there are 3 carbs. It has a top speed of about 40-45. Check the compression of the cylinders before you try and put run it otherwise you will blow the motor. I know all of this because I have 3 of these. Also change it to premix it makes it so much easier
How is premixing easier? I have a 1994 Polaris SL750 with the stock oil injector setup and it’s a breeze! I just fill the oil tank after every ride and just forget!
