The new you is the best you. I’ve noticed you change over the years and it’s all for the best man. Once you find friends that actually matter you can start treating them like family. Don’t feel like you’re going to get hurt in the past because as we grow things change and people are not the same. Keep doing what you’re doing and trust that everything will work out and don’t ever be too wild off towards other people and try to understand wife from their point of you as much as you possibly can because that’s how you come off to them and that’s what really matters.
Show us some maintenance on it once you get to that point with it, I’d love to see it on a lift and just what you guys learn with that thing. Looks badass

He met up with Kyle not too long ago and Nick is currently developing a kit for the Cayman chassis. if you didnt already know the reason for the ignition being on the left side it goes back from the racing days drivers would run across the track to their cars and it would give them a slight edge by being able to start the car while putting it into gear. cool little touch.

Someone (in my case my dad) was 100 feet away standing with the bike at the start line. We would all have to run to our bikes, get it started and as soon as you did you could go. Was cool. Was happy to be riding a Honda that started first kick every time. Was riding a CR85R 2 stroke back in those days. Loved that bike, was a ripper for sure!

Another issue with them, up to and including the 2007's is the IMS Bearing. If that goes, so does the entire engine. But there is a fix/mod available for them. If you have that many miles, odds are, it's not going to fail now. Sweet new daily....and still have some paper in your pockets. Congrats.
That's one thing people miss about high mileage cars, if you can find one with paperwork and all the issues addressed and it's half the price, that's what you want if yours a gear head. Just my .02
@@theProtocaster How I got my e55 amg. Had 180k, service history was massive. All the recalls had been done etc and some other common issues with them like the harmonic balancer. Was listed for 8k, got it for 5 cash. This was like 7-8 years ago though. Still have it. A bit over 250k miles, only issue I've had was a crankshaft positioning sensor($60) and alternator($300+ but lifetime warranty, also OEM). Need to do struts, should probably just redo the suspension entirely. No engine issues whatsoever, full boost.

Factory upgraded “non-serviceable” IMS bearing is still an issue. Also, oil starvation during track use is common. Glovebox CD slot(s) for Nav. Very underrated cars, excellent build quality, great foundation for future mod’s Nice purchase 👍
@@AdmissionGaming In most cars your crank lines up with your tranny, on some/all Porshes the crank doesn't line up with the tranny, so they added in another crank driven by the actual crank, that's what the IMS is mounted to. On a Boxster it's really not the worst job all things considered (judging from videos, I've only dreamed of getting a Boxster).
IMS bearing is serviceable during a clutch job. It’s not the ZOMG issue it’s made out to be, far from it. As a German car tech, most of my colleagues grossly exaggerate the time and complication of working on these… Reminds me of the $1600 BMW E90 valvecover replacement, which takes less than 2 hrs, whilst the cover is $300. Lotta BS and scumbaggery in the euro game.

looks damn clean Kyle... good purchase ! just watch out for weight distribution if you swap the engine . those car ride on rails until the backend goes loose and then good luck . take it easy on the gas in the curve to get use to it , cause when the backend goes you need to be ready fast or else get ready for a curb or a tree fast lol. But i guess you know all of that already . Can't wait to see what you will use for the swap !

Hey Kyle, been watching since before you left your moms house. I own a 2006 Cayman also, for the past few years also. The GT3 Front end is sick, really good upgrade, the wing is pretty ricer. They make power from 3200 to redline, they don’t do torque. Cheap power upgrade is the smaller accessory pulley, gains are about 5 hp. I’m in California so Emison standards mean no modifications. I was really wanting to turbo one, but a K Swap is the answer. Greatest part is the way they handle, like no other. BTW, 100,000 is just getting started, you’ll like it until you need more low end, but they run great in the twistiest. Great choice, tell Wyatt HI.
very nice car kyle, it will be fun for the channel just be careful with it because not only internal engine components are expensive for these but basically anything is really. i had a plastic vacuum line break on me and just that alone was a couple hundred dollars. consider joining a porsche forum and the good thing is there are diagrams online of a lot of part locations and things. if you do decide to do a swap in this it would be interesting to see you introduce something fresh you have never done before and that no one else has either. keep up the good work guys!
Yes for sure. They should build a circuit track type car. Not on this though. Too expensive to drive that much. Sick of all the drag racing on every channel. He should have gone with the RS3 or RS4 manual and done a track build on it. It's already got turbo on it and VW/Audi are easy to extract power from with some bolt ons and tuning.
Track racing is terrible for content. PoV shots of left and right hand turns and the steering wheel. It's impossible to get good shots unless you were operating a badass drone or two and could splice them together along with a inperson,, rear or roof mount, and someone from the flaggers podium. How many channels have any sorta viewership or clout from track driving? Absolutely zero! Also, Kyle builds shit just enough to call it finished, race, and then "finish it up" repair the new damage etc. So I don't know if thet are at that caliber; Especially if your trying to compete in some sort of sanctioned race class with the crazy rules, regulations and old head politics where they favor who they choose and don't bother hiding it

I think it would be way cooler to turbo the boxer engine before you swap it. Wouldn't be to expensive to do if you guys custom built everything yourself. Also this car might give you guys a chance to work with fcp euro. They carry Carrillo rods for it for 1700. Unfortunately they are backordered right now though.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous. Still you earned it Kyle the magic of editing makes the builds look a lot easier and quicker than they are. As a fellow mechanic the stuff these guys do is anything but easy and very time consuming.
Great choice for a daily. It wins best drivers car against all brands at all prices. It is my preferred Porsche. Mid engine and light. They will run 250k miles without complaining. I don't think this has the dreaded IMS bearing issue. They handle beautifully and are decently powered. They have lot's of trunk space so they work well as a daily or for a road trip. Nice exhaust system.
Man this be a major upgrade from my nb1 Miata Michigan winter trying to kill me this year. I take it out ice fishing too throw some tire chains on and rip her right out on to houghton lake raise the coilovers to max height😂

I think Wyatt was onto something. Fully built Turbo k swap, full cage, replace all the suspension with upgraded stuff, gut it out, do like a fiberglass front/ doors /hatch/widebody and just make it a full on race car that would be beast on road courses, grip racing and just make it like an actual full on race car

Can make big big power on those flat 6’s and keep the balance low. Also the stock mufflers are in the perfect position to route the exhaust and mount a big turbo. Would love to see a fully forged and turbo 3.8 setting cayman records.

And I just dont think this would cut it. Rather see them roll up to the LZ compound with a dialed 1200hp awd Rowdassy 6 seater and do a family pull 😅 Feels like they would enjoy a really good build rather than a 16 year old stock base porsche
I think this car should have a lot of cosmetic mods to it (like the radio upgrade) instead of speed stuff since its a daily and everything and just making it look cool would be the main priority, and then getting it to around mid 300-400hp ofc
I think the best idea would be to remove all the cd-players and the headunits. Then do like Taylor ray did and just put an amplifier with bluetooth in it so everything is controlled by the phone. Then just replace the headunit with a plain carbon plate
The engine will need serviced though, if reliability drops after 100k... We'd love to see it disassembled. Maybe very minor upgrades that yield very little performance but 'increased-lifespan' styled parts or basic creature comforts

@Max Power Supra's are nearly 400 pounds heavier and have turbo lag that my 12.5:1 compression Cayman S does NOT have. And my PDK can shift in 200 milliseconds. Don't get me wrong, I like the look of the porky Supra. In my rear view mirror while its heavy Inline-6 BMW engine is struggling to spool up...
