His voice takes my breath away, takes me to an almost ethereal place, automatically makes me so happy. Thank you Steve Perry! Love you so very much 😘❤️
This is the only song they did that won a Grammy. Journey is my all time favorite group. Steve Perry without a doubt has the best voice ever. He's not just a rock star but a legend. There's so many other songs that are so good. Too many for me to pick a favorite. I love them all. Thanks for reacting to Journey and keep it up. You have only begun to get to know Journey and Steve Perry
They were only nominated for a Grammy, but they didn't win it. The Beatles won out over them with the song Free as a Bird. It had been recorded in 1977, but the surviving band members didn't release it until 1995. I'm still a bit upset about it. lol
@@victorialw1 I had just assumed that when they said that it was the only song that was nominated, they won. This is such a great song. I can't believe they waited so long to release it
@@Mary-cz8pf hi Mary. When you love a woman isn't the song I was talking about that they waited too long to release. I was talking about the song that won over when you love a woman. I was talking about free as a bird by the Beatles. Have a blessed day Mary!
I remember the time that I was sitting in my living room listening to the Street Talk album. My husband walked in and asked me “Do you really like that guy?” I looked up at him and said “Are you kidding? If he came to the door for me right now, I’d be gone.” it was probably the wrong thing to say. He banned all Steve Perry music from the house. The marriage didn’t last. But my love and respect for Steve has.❤
Steve Perry is one of the greatest singers of all time. The power of his voice is beyond amazing. Once he left Journey, I no longer followed the band and they never made any hits after replacing the lead singer. Thank you for sharing the gift of Steve Perry and for your positive comments.
My husband told me after he heard this song...”this is our song.” Almost 22 years married and we finally have our song. So happy it’s this one. I’ve loved Journey and Steve Perry for over 40 years. This group of guys are my absolute favorite band of all time.
Steve's voice is not only magical but it is iconic. Whatever he is singing, you know it is him...absolutely unmistakable. So soulful and melodic. No one else like him out there! Thank you for reviewing Steve Perry's songs both with Journey and his solo music. We are so blessed to have him sing for us everytime.
I will love Steve Perry and all the music he has done with Journey and as a solo artist til the day I die. For me being a fan for the last 44 years isn’t long enough. My generation was blessed to have so much good music growing up. Please promise me you will continue to pass it on to the younger generation after you like I did with my kids and am doing now with my grandkids. There is always a dance party at my house when the grandkids are around🤣
Love your reactions to Journey! This phenomenal group deserves all the love and praise all around the world. There will never be another Steve Perry he is a legend! He is and will always be the GOAT
Somewhere around the 3-minute mark I leave my body looking down I can see myself standing entranced channeling Steve Perry and waving crazy arms....that's how good his voice is...angelic af
'His voice will make you cry'. I've been crying listening to his voice for over 40 years. It doesn't matter how many times I've heard the song. Any song.
Steve Perry isn't referred to as " The Voice" for nothing. Best rock front man EVER. I was fortunate to have seen them in concert on their Escape Tour 1981. I was in the 9th grade. They don't make em like him this day and time, with most singers today are autotuned and still don't sound as good as him. There is one singer today that is extremely talented and doesn't need or use autotune and that's Adele. Besides her I can't think of anyone I'd put in Steve's league. Back in the day I'd have to say Freedy Mercury. Agree or disagree?
Great reaction Adogg!! From Journey fan to Journey fan, I'm glad you got a chance to check out this beautiful masterpiece!! When You Love a Woman is definitely one of my top favorite Journey songs!! Since When You Love a Woman first came out, I have listened to this song so many times. It still feels like I am listening to it for the very first time, this song does not age!! Get your hands on as much Journey you possibly can, you can't go wrong with any Journey song!! Take care & thanks for the reaction 👍🎤🎵🎶🙌
This was 5 years after the band split up in 1991. They got back together in 1996 to record this album “Trial by Fire” which included this hit. Shortly after they filmed the video Steve Perry left the band. This was last recorded album with him as lead singer of Journey. If you want to hear the ultimate Steve Perry voice listen to “Why Can’t This Night Go On Forever”. It’s widely regarded as his best vocal performance by other artists.
Sadly, this is the final performance with Steve as the lead vocalist, before his departure. It forever changed the dynamic of the band mates. Did you catch Neal's strumming on that white Tom Anderson guitar! Shout out to Wayne Isham for the video itself. It's a stripped down production in a room with just instruments & the vocals, that voice of Steve Perry. His mastering instrument~voice, echoes so beautifully with such power & control. Only one Steve. 👍Dig your reaction!
Journey is a band that (like the Eagles) practically every song they produce is a "Greatest Hit". They really don't make too many songs that fail. They truly are phenomenal.
Adogg, love your enthusiasm for the band and Perry's voice. Glad you've decided to ride the Journey train. It's a journey you won't regret. Keep up the good reacts!
OMG, love hearing more Journey! Especially when the Steve Perry touch is there. I think he made women fall in love from the audience when he sang this. Watched it all Adogg, thanks
Bruh I'm telling you. You got to hear LOVIN TOUCHIN SQUEEZIN. I think you would love it. And WALKS LIKE A LADY. 👍 I promise you that you will love them the most ♥.
Just a note. It’s been reported that Steve recorded this video while he was in severe pain from a degenerative bone disease in his hip. He had just been diagnosed with it and had to pack ice 🧊 on his hip and keep changing it during this video recording! He couldn’t go on tour to promote the new album and the band decided they would go on without him after waiting a year for him to have hip surgery. Steve wasn’t ready to make that decision. Ultimately Steve and the band broke up for good. You would never know he was in pain making this video.
I would suggest you look up the effects of intubation on the vocal folds. The surgery Steve was facing would require being intubated for many hours. There was no guaranty he would ever sing again. I could see the pain, and the fear he was suffering during the filming. Neal's callous disregard for his feelings are the reason he will never trust him again. While he has finally returned to singing, his voice has a completely different texture.
I am enthralled. He takes your breath away. This is the real, the complete package. His voice, the music, the words and not to say his looks dont hurt either, take me back in time.
And just think!! You would have never guess that Steve Perry was in some massive pain!! Due to the fact that he had recently found out that he had degenerative bone condition in his hip! Which leads to the fact, that this song came from the very last Journey album 'Trial By Fire', with Steve Perry!! This was to be the BIGGEST World Tour/Reunion for Journey and Steve Perry! However, after finding out that he had needed major hip surgery. It came to the point where the band was getting tired of waiting for Perry. Because they wanted to get on the road. So ultimately, the band gave Perry an ultimatum......'get the surgery so we can get on the road! OR we go on without you!!' In which Perry told them .... 'Do what you need to do! But please don't fracture the stone (the name Journey)! Change the name of the band, just don't fracture it!' Thus the band did in fact, go on without Perry! And from this album you really should react to ...... 'Message Of Love, Still She Cries, It's Just The Rain, Trial By Fire and Don't Be Down On Me Baby!' All songs will be audio. When You Love A Woman, was the ONLY video from the Trial By Fire album!!
Contrast those band members with Def Leppard and their drummer Rick Allen after his accident. Kudos to them for standing by their friend/band mate. It was Journey’s loss to do Steve Perry as they did.
Pure magic! Love that you appreciate what they bring. There are a few different lineups in their catalog, but this lineup the best by far and are music legends. The best of the best!
I hope you can react to Wheel In The Sky. I love Steve Perry's duet with the guitar 🎸 you are one of my favorite reactors. You're so kind and respectful, so real.
I grew up on Journey. They were the first bands as a kid I listened to and I’ve never looked back from them. At 48 I still listen to them as I did when I was just 8 yrs old listening to Wheel in the Sky.
You must watch the entire "Escape: Live in Houston 1981 Tour" video. You WON'T be disappointed. Keep in mind that all these videos of Journey that you're reacting to are when Steve Perry was the lead singer. They were at their biggest commercial success when Steve Perry was with them. He left the band in 1998.
I'll Admit the first time Iheard this in 1996 I cried. This song is soooo good and Steve's voice just gets in your soul and heart forever. It's etched in you your mind forever.
This is their first single after being apart for 10 years. We had finally got Journey back together and this was the Masterpiece that came out of it but it wasn't meant to be. Steve Perry came down with a crippling hip injury that kept him from touring and promoting this album and that was it. We got a flash of what Journey was going to continue to be but it was all for not. The rest of the guys in the band got tired of waiting for Steve and they moved on and toured with other singers and the rest is history. No more new music from the greatest band ever. Just imagine if they would have continued to making music and how many more beautiful songs they would have created together!? Man............what a shame. There's just something special that Steve and Johnathan Cain had when it came to writing music together! IMO Journey wouldn't have had all these hit songs if Johnathan Cain hadn't joined the band after Greg Rollie retired from the band. He deserves a ton of the credit for making Journey who they are!
Steve Perry. Great Great singer. Fantastic guitar player. There have been other Journey singers but none like Steve Perry. They started the band in early 70s I think and became a great arena band. Sold everyone out. 💝
Yes you are right I’m so in love of this song I can feel the emotion the way Steve Perry delivered the song ❤I started falling in love with him . I like this better than open arms . It’s nice to feel to fall in love again when you heard this song , also his band Journey amazing they are so incredible talented too and I agreed Steve Perry’s voice will make you cry he put his emotions and he sings it by heart and soul ❤❤❤I love him❤
Adogg! I love your reactions to the Journey songs you have listened to. Your comments are so spot on! Check out "Stone In Love" and "Escape" when you can. You won't be disappointed! Keep it real brother, be safe, and blessings to you. And THANK YOU for sharing these great Journey songs with us! Steve Perry's voice is golden!
Written by Steve Perry, Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain. This is the last video featuring the Escape lineup. Great performance 🎭 👍 Suggested next Journey song: Message of Love 💘 Suggested duet: Steve Perry and Kenny Loggins sing Don't Fight It.
