Peter with the donut in the beginning is actually meant to symbolize his promise to Homer to take care of Bart after Homer died in a shoot out because he was ratted out by Mr. Karbs to get paid by the feds
I love how the handwriting has so much character. You can see how Bob is the mature boss who calls the shots, Peter is the muscles who follows every word of his boss and is a mess without him and Bartholomew, who is reminding us he really is just a child in a suit
I don’t know man, Peter seems more boss-like to me. Mostly because he’s wearing a jacket without his arms in the sleeves. The bob seems like his right hand man
@@tdoyr2119That's what they want you to think. Peter's so big and imposing that at first glance, you'd think he was the head of the operation. It's only when it's time for action, do you find out who the real brutal one is.
So let’s break this down. SpongeBob is clearly the leader of the trio and has definitely been in the business for the longest. He calls the shots and gives the lower-ranking members orders. Peter is the bruiser, most likely carrying out the majority of the various things SpongeBob’s cartel/mafia does, most likely assassinations of other rival leaders, drug dealing and trafficking, among other things. Bart is probably the new hotshot, maybe coming into the cartel after Homer was put out of action (likely shot or beaten to death during an operation) Their cartel seems to incredibly rich, being able to rent limousines with ease and having access to what is likely a very expensive nightclub. And considering that the trio all debuted in the 80s and 90s it’s safe to say they have serious experience and probably dominance in their area.
Bart "Jojo" Simpson: Relatively new recruit, but shot up the ranks rather quickly for his sharp-shooting skills, and even sharper ability to keep a cool head at even the most tense meetings. "Griffin": One of the oldest and most trusted members of the organization, having started his own family in the time since helping found the group three decades ago. Known for keeping a pet eagle and his imposing stance, earning his nickname by his subordinates, he acts as the right hand man and bodyguard of the only man above him on the chain of command. Robert "Bob" Pinstripe-Pants: Ambassador, Negotiator, Leader. His memory is likened to a sponge, never forgetting a favor or a slight done against him or his crew. The sponge saying also coming from his knack to "soak-up" knowledge about every illicit deal happening in the underworld. His position as a gatekeeper squashing any young talent hoping to strike out on their own has earned him quite a reputation. There is a rumor that he has a ridiculous sounding distinctive laugh, which only the ones unfortunate enough to earn his ire hear before they are sent to sleep with the fishes. You know what would be a cool additional portion of lore to add? Bart is actually just following his father's footsteps and filling in his position after he got killed in a deal gone wrong, legends say Homero and Petterson were so close as friends as to be equated to brothers, the two arms of Robert who crushed the opposition.
Spongebob is a genuinely intimidating character here, kinda reminds me of how Vizzini in the Princess Bride is the smallest character but the leader. means Peter is Fezzik and Bart is Iñigo haha
This comparison is also quite fitting, since Iñigo's father was killed and some commenters here have created backstories for this art/animation in which Homer has been killed.
The villains of the who framed Roger Rabbit sequel. “These new toons don’t play by the old rules Eddie. There not content to do just wacky jokes or gags. They want it all, the whole bag. And if your not going to give it to them they are going to take it.Take Griffin for example he wanted Yogi Bears turf so he snuck up behind and stuck a knife into his back.”
Everything about this image is ludicrously intense and impactful in a paradoxically low-key way. The way Spongebob is lighting a cigarette while walking past you, a raise brow and stink eye barely visible over his nose, walking with an animalistic forward lean of a predator; an indifferent but arrogant posture as if to say: "you're the correct distance away right now not to get killed for disrespect, so keep it that way and take the hint to back the fuck up." or "this punk real arrogant being so close, I'll give them a menacing glance to make them recognize they're in danger." It's so nonchalant and perfectly framed by the light with half his body obscured in shadow. It feels as though he's tired of warning punks, and finds that just beating them down when they come up less tiring than giving them anything more than a look. He seems weathered, carrying a history of a thousand scraps behind the eyes of man who just wants to get business done while having to worry about logistical problems more than confrontation ones, regardless of his preference. The likely very built Peter, the business suit with working coat dropped on his shoulders walking straight toward the viewer with an upturned chin, looking down his nose with a critical expression, his head pulled back with faux surprise or disgust. His watch and straight but swaying poster imposing like a tree or building, more dense and secure than a normal man. A feeling of imposing muscle and style as if to warn that there's very little room for nonsense, and there's a guarantee there won't be, or will no longer be very soon in the direction he walks. He seems to carry responsibility to his own like the current head henchman. And the youthful up-and-comer swagger, that is juxtaposed against the barely in motion stance as he leave the car, Bart. With his casual way of moving suggesting an air of over menace, a plainly visible raise to his eyebrow acting as not just a hint but command to recognize as the viewer that you're in the wrong place. The suit giving a sense of refinement juxtaposed against the stance that speaks of style and the ignorant self self-assumed importance. A feeling of being reminded you're a civilian and he's a gangster emenates carelessly, as though being able to hide behind his boss and his best enforcer make him overcompensate his regular build with overt distance. His sunglasses both creating a position of unreadibilty to his advantage just as much as being a tell of his potential need for it compared to the others who don't. Likely the shartshooter and small task handler. I get the story in this one image of Mob boss, the Right Hand Man, and the New Blood. From front to back the confidence, importance, power and quality of garb move back in layers alongside their role in the organization. With Spongbob first you know he goes first as the face with absolutely no fear or regard knowing he has is back taken care of and nothing can take him from the front, there still being a need to keep an eye out telling the story of a wary out of realistic necessity rather than fear, fore there is none. Peter walking right behind him, he imposes and overtly towers over those that dare walk near the boss, a beacon to draw the eye and with minimal effort disuade anyone from stepping out of line. A confidence that speaks of not needing to overplay the fact yo'u'd get your assed kicked or killed, so a simple squint will do, but by facing you and towering above he garuntees you see that squint; efficient and effective, as expected of the most capable and loyal muscle. And, lastly the new blood enforcer, the last out of the car, and in the back the most vulnerable new meat position giving to Bart. A need to impress and overcompensate in front of his superiors straining his desire to simply already be known as threatening and be at the top and be able to play it cool. The idea of being able to casual a delusion to hold for any serious gangster, firmly planted but surely worked out overtime. In general a sense of naive and youthful misunderstanding of what it means totruly handle business that dilutes his otherwise capable purpose as a future reliable enforcer can be felt. All of this reinforced by their position and clothing. The leader dripped out to the max with a shameless stripped suit, Peter following right behind with a fancy get up, with all one tone to both be intense but serious, and Bart with a generic suit, no cigarette or hat with classic style or use, instead the new classic of sunglasses for modern enforcement. The sponge probably just pulls out a knife and kills like he's on the job hunting prey, Peter likely uses a bat or his fists like a boxer with no need to hold back, but still having showmanship, and Bart using a gun, probably a modern pistol, mercilessly hand out death from a distance for money. Spongebob the dark entrepenure, Peter the Loyal Enforcer, and Bart the killer for hire. And of course the square wheels cuz they're the square gang. I also love how the lighting feels like a natural dispersed spotlight, slamming Peter intensely in the middle, catching Spongebob harshly from the side, and be weakened for Bart in the back, still partially submerged in the limo. Whoever made this art put real thought into the story they were creating and how the composition plays to establish it. TL:DR This does in fact go hard, and its because the artist knew how to through composition and visual storytelling. (Copied from original commenter on OG post)
The OP really cooked a gourmet. Hold up, finna finish this loo and read this with a cuppa like a fine gentleman in his study. Edit: yeah, what he said. This is no mere comment but a very well thought out analysis of a fine piece.
The most powerful crime syndicate ever formed: Bartholomew- the communications minister & spy Big Griff- The heavy, second in command and weapons specialist Robert pinstripe pants- The leader, King negotiator, and field tactician
I’m not saying that I want a gritty crime drama game with Spongebob as a Mafia Boss with the overarching family, Peter as his subordinate and right hand with his own family, and Bart as a young hotshot Hitman with his own family but…well actually that is exactly what I’m saying.
It almost seems like at the beginning, a payment just happened, as Bart is smugly counting money, whilst Peter eyes him seemingly nonchalantly with a donut in his hand, making sure the new blood doesn’t get too big for his britches, then we see SpongeBob hold up a bunch of money and a thumbs up, as if to say “keep up the good work and there’s more where that came from”
The Big G- muscle, carries out any orders necessary for the boss El Barto- communicator, new worker, but has a calm head Spongerobert "bob" - leader of the organisation, calls all the shots. mess with him and it aint lookin good for you.
Dude this show was the _BOMB_ back in the day. That scene where Don was standing over Bart's body in the morgue obviously distraught over his death, followed by the heartwrenching _"Look how they massacred my boy"_ is just peak cinema. Martin Scorsese would be proud
Me and my other two friends thought that this was absolute fire, and so now we’re doing this bit over on discord where we have our pfp’s as the characters in the video. (I’m SpongeBob, and the other two are Bart and Peter). That’s how great this video is, and now we can’t stop talking about it, and how we literally changed our pfp’s just for the funny. So thank you for this masterpiece of a video. 😎👍
