I really wish Jack had known he’s been able to talk to Lancer in his key items throughout the entire game! Really hope he realises before it’s too late
It spelled out "December" which is the name of Noelle's sister, aka Dess. Dess is dead or missing so when Noelle was in a school spelling bee when required to spell 'December' she was unable to do it, leading to Berdley winning and kickstating his massive ego.
@@CheshieD While it's extremely unlikely that the next chapter will come that soon, from what we know a lot of the groundwork for future chapters was done in parallel with Chapter 2, not to mention things took longer than normal due to Toby's hand injury.
Berdly having such strong attacks is pretty neat. They could have had him be totally inept to be just a punching bag comic relief character, but they didn't. Toby gave him not just powerful awesome attacks, but an absolutely banging theme, impressive looking design, and actual character development. I hope more characters show up in dark worlds, id love to see what kind of character designs and abilities we could see in the future...
21:53 The moss was a reference to the first chapter, where you could make Kris eat it when you were thrown in prison. Also, it made Kris turn into a "lv 2 moss finder (basic moss-fiding abilities)" and Noelle turn into a "lv 2 moss neutral (neither chaotic nor lawful to moss)".
If you decide to wait on consuming it until Susie and Ralsei join the party then Susie will become a Moss Enjoyer (removing her title as Dark Knight, and removing Kris' title as either I think Leader or Bed Inspector).
That's why you gotta learn you didn't beat sans. You just kept fighting sans for so fucking long, you learned all the patterns and then just eventually got lucky at it. The moves that he got hit by when he said that were so easily dodgable compared to sans, it's fucking sad, and proves the only reason you beat sans then is cause of muscle memory and infinite retires, not cause you're good at it.
@@thealarm7057 Give the guy a break, he practiced the fight and got good at it. Its not his fault he hasn't played a game like this in nearly three years. If he had done the fight right after the Sans fight, I'm sure it would've been a breeze for him compared to the Sans fight
Jack: "No, Pink Ribbon sucks." People Who Knows It Extends Your Graze Area And Thus Gives You An Advantage In Combat: "YOU'RE TEARING US APART JACK!!!"
Imma be honest, watching Jack actually PLAY this game is legit *_PAIN._* Like, his voices and stuff are great, but he's hardly paying attention to most of what's going on, & is kinda just trying to blaze through this game. :/
@@ryanc3609 true, but I agree with both of you. It’s definitely annoying to watch him play if you’ve played the game, but it doesn’t bother me enough that I don’t want to watch it. It’s his play through, he’s just having fun
I love how when you cross the street Noell blocks out sight and sound and just let Kris lead them…because you know…Deer Instincts and traffic don’t mix well.
It spelled out "December" which is the name of Noelle's sister, aka Dess! Dess could be a short nickname for December! (Hence, why it spelled out December, it was implying that is Dess' name and we all know Noelle's family heavily centers around Christmas, even with their names!!)
@@nickhoude21 My theory is that Noelle's sister, December went missing (or something happened to her so she isn't around) and during the spelling bee, Noelle couldn't bring herself to spell "December" because it reminded her
@@coyoted9251 well considering it’s been 6 years this isn’t much of a spoiler but read if u wanna know Mettaton, napstablook and mad dummy are all related, Mettaton was a ghost who abandoned his family to be famous and his family had no idea where he was The pink house next to napstablooks in waterfall has a secret key that you have to get in order to get this back story it’s like a side quest, at the end of the pacifist route you can go back to napstablooks house and Mettaton will be there asking him to be his DJ for future shows, but he still doesn’t tell napstablook who he was. That’s why napstablook is always sad he’s missing his best friend because he ran away
queen has the best motivation ive ever seen, not fueled by evil, or greed, or corruption, she just wants to make people smile. And she's so hilarious, she did her job. we all love her
“The room between, there’s a room in between.” actually refers to the fact the “Man” who gave you the egg is actually between the two rooms, the moss room and the road room, I actually encountered this on my first or second playthrough. He gives you another egg.
Th...there was a first egg??? I saw a streamer find the room between and was absolutely baffled. I've played so much of this game already, where are these eggs coming from?!
It's been a year and a half and I only now realized Queen's "Stop Everything" right before she says "Kris Get The Banana" was meant to be a tension increasing line by implying she might have figured out that it was Noelle right beside her in the car, because she said that after Noelle spoke for the first time while by Queen's side. All of that for her to throw one of the biggest meme lines from Toby Fox productions ever. GOD the writing for this game is so good
Okay, Jack. Hoping you see this. Ralsei's Pacify and Noelle's Sleep Mist are alternate ways to SPARE enemies. Instead of using the SPARE button on enemies with Yellow names, you can also use Pacify/Sleep Mist on enemies with blue names (aka TIRED enemies), and it has the same effect. It's usually easier to make enemies tired than Spareable, but it costs TP to cast the spells, so it's a tradeoff.
Eh, I don't really mind if he doesn't do it because that makes the fights longer and I can see some dialogue that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Besides, Jack's reactions are amazing.
God, Toby's character work has improved by leaps and bounds. I liked all the characters in Undertale, but they went from good to great with Deltarune. I can't wait to see how good this all gets later.
My god. I didn't expect Jack to go this hard into the voices. His Berdly, Noelle and Queen voices are incredible. Edit: The gold Berdly statue is wearing Crocs. That is all.
they add to berdly's character so well, he gets small things wrong people wont notice, like at 31:08 when he says "even a broken clock is right once a day" when the actual quote says twice a day XD
For some reason, Jack's voice fits Berdly's character so well, if there would be an animation of Deltarune, it would be pretty cool if Jack was the voice actor.

i love spamton, i always imagined his [] voice lines as random voice clips from advertisements and infomercials mixed with his “normal” voice (which i think jack voice acted him well)
Berdley is written quite well. He really grates on the nerves, but in a well written way. Making a character to dislike or hate can be hard without just making them outright awful. He is realistically unlikable, and that is hard to accomplish.
@@batouttahell24 or bots made by people with too much time on their hands, who I can’t wait to beat the [[Hyperlink Blocked]] out of them when they go to hell
49:45 Imo Spamton's dialogue of "That's [Discomfort and Abdominal Pain!] In my [Guts]" combined with "I used to be the email guy, now I'm the [[It Burns ! Ow ! Stop ! Help Me ! It Burns!]] Guy" can tell us a full picture. I think, the day Spamton got evicted from Queen's Palace was less of an "eviction", and more of an execution. See, we can deduce from the "pain in his [guts]" that he was probably punched in the stomach, then thrown into the acid river beneath Queen's Mansion, that's where he turned from the (spam) email guy to the [[It Burns ! Ow ! Stop ! Help Me ! It Burns!]] Guy. That's why he's a midget compared to the other Addisons, The Acid shrinked him from the feet to upper body, that's why his head is relatively big while his lower body is very small. It is implied that his tossing into the lake was not a rush, resembling more of a torture session. Either he barely escaped with his life and got a mental breakdown from it like The Joker from Batman : The Killing Joke or it was just a severe punishment rather than outright murder. I guess, King and Jevil was right about Queen being more tyrannical and dangerous than him.
The letter "puzzle" with Noelle spelled out the word "December", which presumably is the full name of Noelle's older sister "Dess." Noelle implies that they grew up with Kris and Asriel, and we can infer that like Asriel, Dess has moved away/is no longer around. Noelle feels a shared sort of struggle/loneliness with Kris at the loss of their respective older siblings. (This also explains the brief instance Noelle's silhouette in that puzzle room shrinks down to child-size, as Noelle is flashback to being a kid with Kris.) And yes that does mean these are in fact real names of characters: -Noelle Holliday -Rudolph Holiday (father) -December Holiday
@@lily_art_thing That is certainly a possibility. However, given the limited information we have, it feels like somewhat of a reach to me. You'd have to imagine she would've been buried in the town graveyard, yet there is no grave for her specifically. It might be more reasonable to assume that Noelle was always just jittery/nervous, maybe due in part to the implied expectations/pressure from her mom. But also maybe, like Kris, Noelle lives somewhat in her elder sibling's shadow? The nervousness being her response, like Kris' was becoming an introvert. Who can say at this point?
You can equip the Mannequin to exclusively Kris, and it reduces damage from only specific character's attacks. Namely, Tasques, Tasque Manager, and of course, the secret boss.
@@Mellion555 Yesss same I love them sm ;-; It’s always great when they give the “silent” protagonist a personality (Kris isn’t exactly silent we just can’t hear them talk. The other characters do though.)
Idk it might have something to do with that time Kris and the others went exploring in that forest behind the graveyard. Wouldn't be weird to find moss in a forest
Lol i did the same thing in my play through just because i wanted to see what they'd say. My playthroughs goal was to make everyone hate me being a pacifist. Haha
"berdly is the kind of guy I would want to kill" "Can you fight, Noelle? Are you capable of it?" "We're KILLING, Noelle, it's what we do!" *screams in snowgrave*
I love that the Queen is literally the interent, originally designed to make people happy and entertained but eventually turned into a toxic place and an addiction
@@commanderdenta don’t know why that’s your response. It’s quite obvious that Noelle and Susie are crushing on each other in the game - we’ll probably see that in the next video.
if I had a nickel every time Toby Fox made a romantic subplot in his games involving a seemingly nasty at first but ultimately good hearted battle loving tough girl and a shy, timid nerdy girl I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but its weird its happened twice.
i love how you can see that the mos replayed part is where noelle and chris spell out december because its from all the people replaying hat part to see what it actually spelled out lmao
48:48 “What the fuck is happening?!” Yeah that was basically my reaction to Spamton too. Except I was playing in the middle of the night so I was a lot more terrified.
Now that you fought spamton, I would recommend you backtrack to the trash area where you fell down after the rollercoaster thing. You can meet him there as a shopkeeper and get some great dialogue (and items). Loving this series so far!
Giving a tip for something that he missed and would probably never have found himself isn't backseat gaming. It's not like I'm forcing him to play a certain way or pick certain choices, it is just a recommendation to backtrack for some funny dialogue lol.
@@inkykakkorr please stop saying someone is back seat gaming when they’re just giving them a tip, at this point you’re more annoying than the actual backseat gaming people
@@brandoncreemsonalt9321 Being an ape would be so much better than being a human, just think about it. Apes have no responsibilities, like work, school, and taxes, and are immune to the hellhole that is the internet and technology, so all your time can be devoted to sleeping and chilling with your ape buddies. You can eat bananas (objectively the best fruit) of the highest quality, play tag with your ape friends (even better than human tag because apes are agile and can parkour on trees), and start an ape family with many ape babies (the only babies I wouldn’t curbstomp). Apes are also pretty smart, so you could have a much richer life than most other animals while not being dependent on degenerative human entertainment. Apes can also have fun anywhere - in the wilderness, at the zoo, on the streets, and so on, so you wouldn’t have to worry about where you would go. God I want to be an ape so fucking bad, I’ve already converted to Buddhism and am thinking about what my chances of reincarnating as an ape are, and what I’d do if I don’t get reincarnated as one. And if I were you, I would be trying to do the same thing.
@卍 Savetion Epic! 卐 The player takes on the role of PaRappa, a paper-thin rapping dog, who is trying to win the heart of a flower-like girl named Sunny Funny. However, he is intimidated by the presence of Joe Chin, a rich, narcisistic dog who goes overboard with his attempts to impress Sunny. To impress Sunny Funny, PaRappa learns to fight at a kung fu dojo, and takes a driver's education course to get his license. However, when he crashes his dad's car, he has to earn money at a flea market to pay for it. When Sunny's birthday comes up, PaRappa has to get her a cake, but ends up ruining it after an encounter with Joe. He makes a new one by watching a cooking show and proceeds to eat a lot of it on the day. When spending some time alone with Sunny, he is suddenly overcome with the need to go to the bathroom and has to rap against his former teachers to get to the front of the queue. Then one night, PaRappa is invited to Club Fun, and asks Sunny to go with him, to which she agrees. PaRappa then raps on stage with everybody, rapping solo at the end of the song and expressing his feelings for Sunny.

@@thealarm7057 Well, spam bots typically try to sell you something, yes? And typically their deal is a complete scam, making them corrupt, right? So technically, Spamton being a spam bot would in fact fit my pun.
Also when he gets out of the dumpster he is just talking to no one, he doesn't notice Kris. Like spambots just spaming the information anywhere even if you don't notice an extra tab popped up
I just realized that when Kris first encounters Berdly, one of the small quips says 'Smells like fried chicken' but when we meet Berdly again with Noelle, it says 'Smells like frozen chicken'. Kinda creepy.
"I just realized, haha... I can't see shit" It's always funny to take a character and supplement your own dialogue in place. Me and my buddy have been playing DDLC, and we do that ALOT.
@@TheLinksOfficial Yuri and Monika are definitely 2 of the ones that we do it the most with. Monika is easy to add an out-of-character insult and Yuri we make fun of for her "bad reading posture" if you catch my drift.
My mate also did that with DDLC and basically we all amplified all of the characters act 2 personalities and just added more bs XD we barely even follow the story (although we both have already fully understood the whole story and game, so we aren't ruining anything for ourselves)
it spelled out "december" when you were doing the puzzle with noelle. i hope it foreshadows the release-month of the next chapter. although it probably just refers to noelle and her whole christmas theme
That would be super cool! I know the word refers to a bit later that involves a flashback with a spelling bee, but it could totally be release foreshadowing too.
I've seen it explained/headcanoned as (Spoilers ig) "December is the full name of Dess and the word that made her lose the spelling bee to Berdly, presumably because it took place shortly after Dess's death"
@@3173_Delta I'll be honest, I'm not sure if her sister is dead or she simply left, but her being distressed enough by her sister...not being there to comfort her could still be enough to prevent her from spelling her name as she is a mostly gentle being. When Jack mentioned her size change at 57:00 I had to rewind to check as I missed it twice before watching this and I still didn't notice till he mentioned it. But, all of this is still early without a full game to properly poke around and interview with. Just my second time through to just do the Boss I missed I found so many new nooks I didn't notice. Whatever price this game will be at I'll pay. Toby and team's work is just that good.
*spoilers spoilers seriously if you don't want spoilers don't read this* December is the name of Noelle's sister, who if I'm not remembering wrong, is... No longer with us.
"A+" attack is made surprisingly difficult to avoid, since it is basically a bullet hell with no obvious patterns. So Birdly is almost as hard as SpamtonNEO, ironically. The only enemy I died on.
That move is the only hard one in his move set, and you’re right on the spamton thing and he’s only harder because he deals like 1/4-1/3 of your hp per hit
Everyone has their one thing that they're proud of doing, and they use it as justification for being able to do something else difficult. Jack's is beating Sans.
the way jack pointed out spamton is "like mettaton" not knowing he was SPOT ON--.like one of his first comments, not knowing the tons of theories of their links and direct visible parallels between them in the deeper parts of the game
15:02 this is why I love jack. It doesn't feel like I'm just watching a recording, him asking us if we played something even though he obviously won't get an answer straight away makes it feels much more like I'm going through the game *with* him rather than just watching him
@@yonk-oh7227 I never claimed he's the only one who does it, but it's a big part of why it's fun to watch him play games coz it feels like you're actually there with him
I played deltarune with a friend and durring the 3rd mouse room god that was funny. We each did different characters, he did berdly as mordecai. So while i was stressing over a puzzel he was stressing over reading fast in a mordecai voice. Total chaos.
