The thing i love about your DM reactions is that you actually became a fan. You did one reaction back in the day and fell in love with their sound, and now you are enjoying all of their albums. Great stuff
Thank you Seph for your wonderful reactions to this tour and helping relive one of the best moments of my life. It really brought back so many memories of when I got to see them back in 93. Once again I was completely blown away and moved to tears to have been able to witness Dave and the Band at top form and performing another song I never thought I'd get to see performed live.
Aaaaaaaw you moved me to tears as well...Im remembering the concert live in 93 and singing with the crowd like that in the end ...it was incredible ...beautiful reaction❤❤❤❤❤I would have probably been catatonic if I would have known that that was the last ime Id see Alan with them...thank God I didnt
I was 18 years old when I saw DM for the first time, on their Devotional tour at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood California. Best Concert of my entire life. Amazing is an understatement. I couldn't believe how good Dave sounded and how active he was on stage, especially knowing what he was going through back then. I've had alot of Different and awesome DM moments and the Devotional tour is at the top of the list for me. 🙏🔊❤️🎵🎶
Thank you Seph for all the Depeche reactions love it! Seriously, with Wilder gone now I hope that the music videos and some interviews will be reacted too as well, before moving on into the new Depeche era
"See you next time..." Whenever Dave says that, you know the show is over. Thanks, Seph, for a trip down memory lane. I hadn't watched "Devotional" in a while and had forgotten how kickass that tour really was. The staging and projections by Anton Corbin were a crowning achievement, but also so expensive, we'll never see anything like it again. Later tours, his projections haven't been as good, but here, they were perfect mood-setters. I like this version of Everything Counts. One thing Alan was great at was rearranging older songs, and he knocked them out of the park for his last tour. It's never been the same without him. The last time he played with them was in 2010 when he played "Somebody" with Martin. I still remember tearing up. My favorite live version of Everything Counts is actually from the Blasphemous Rumours 12", live 4-song b-side. Check it out!
The first time we heard this "powered up" version live, it collectively blew the fans away, absolutely epic!! Well done, Alan! Best tour ever! Glad you enjoyed Devotional, Seph! 🤘🤗🤗
Seph, if only we could go back in time & go to 'that' concert, would be unreal. Your enthusiasm for Depeche is endearing. Everything counts is one of my favourites & you singing along made my day. Thank you.
Best Song and best reaction i have ever heard keep it coming Seph 💯 you are Worthy of all your Subscribers don't stop doing what you do, you put so much pleasure back into the world of music and remember music is the food of love so play on
Loved this concert, saw it in July ‘93 enjoyed it so much I went back in November to watch it again. The boys were just as brilliant. I’ll always remember the first time at Crystal Palace stadium and the moon came out and Dave said that the moon had just come out for us!
Starting in 1990, they changed the way they played "Everything Counts". It always makes me sad seeing this performance, because I know it's the end of the road for our dear Alan Wilder. Just so you know, Martin and Alan always sang this song together live. When Dave threw his shirt into the crowd in 1988 at the Rose Bowl, I wonder if people fought over it.
I loved watching your series. Bringing me back to a wonderful time in my life, I got to go see them several times on this tour and again the next summer for the added leg.
I’ve just enjoyed hearing all the different versions of the songs. It just gives it a very different feeling and vibe. Thank you for taking us on this nostalgic ride. I can’t even imagine how I’m going to feel when you listen to the other albums coming up. 🎉🎉
HELLO SEPH.....YEEEEEEESSS...!!! IT'S "EVERYTHING COUNTS"... I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO GET EXCITED 😁😢😲.... AS YOU REALIZED, MOST OF THE SONGS SOUND DIFFERENTLY LIVE, SOME OR MOST SOUND BETTER.. AS YOU MENTIONED, ALAN AND FLETCH ARE IN THE PART BELOW, AND THEY DID THIS FOR A REASON, IT IS IN ALLUSION TO 101, A WAY TO REMEMBER THAT EPIC CONCERT... ABOUT THE INSTRUMENTS, DEPECHE MODE WAS CHARACTERIZED BY USING WHAT THEY HAD AT THEIR REACH, ANYTHING , AND THEY FUSED IT WITH THE SYNTHESIZERS... KEEP ENJOYING DEPECHE MODE.... SALUDOS DESDE MEXICO
From now, keep one thing in mind: DM were potentially over. No more Alan, Dave.. you know.. Martin drinking problems and Fletch having a nervous breakdown. Ultra is a miracle (almost).
1. Before moving onto Ultra, maybe you should do a reaction to the video of In Your Room - it uses the Zephyr mix and is vastly different to the album version, and is usually the version they take live. 2. Might be too late for this, but I would have liked to heard Seph's thoughts on Songs of Faith and Devotion and Devotional as a whole. For me this album and tour changed my perspective of what I thought DM were. Before this album and band they were a synthpop band, after this album I considered them a rock band that just makes good music regardless of the instruments. 3. Seph, are you going to see DM on this current tour?
Indeed 👍🏼. A few videos back, as suggested, Seph seemed interested in the idea of reacting to SOFAD videos + other songs from the Devotional Tour that were not included on the DVD (Death Door, One Caress, Get Right With Me, Something To Do for the Devotional Tour and A Question Of Lust, Somebody and A Question of Time from the Exotic Tour).
Would you consider reacting to the official documentary about Songs of Faith and Devotion before moving to Ultra ? It was released as a bonus in 2006 I believe with a new remastered edition of the album. It's called 1991-1994 („We were going to live together…“). The documentary about Ultra is also highly recommended because it explains the aftermath of Alan quitting and how difficult it was for the band and especially for Dave who was still struggling with his addictions to the point of not being able to sing.
What an ending of a phenomenal concert! This version of Everything Counts sounds a bit melancholic to me, due to the bass and the higher synths. One could only wish to have been there in person❤
When they do Everything Counts live it never fails to get the crowd up and dancing. It’s one of those songs that translates so well from the album to concert. Btw, even though the performance was blurred, did I see a stream of water fall from Dave’s shirt? If it was that’s insane!!
The end of the greatest Depeche Mode tour. I can't wait until you get to Memento Mori, their newest album. It's my 2nd favorite, right behind Songs of Faith and Devotion
I wonder if you'd ever check the series of 10 films by Ross Hallard and Phil Michael Lane, which goes through their first 10 albums, interviewing the band and the ones that make them run. I happen to say that now because the ones for SOFAD and the upcoming album Ultra are particularly intriguing, highlighting the bad hidden parts of being part of a touring successful band. But of course, there's good times too.
If you want more Alan-Mode you can react to this concert from the Broken Frame tour. It is unreleased on video but most of the tracks were released on audio as b-sides on the Construction Time Again limited singles. It´s Baby-Mode 😅 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iIaFvi6RksQ.html
Yes "Everything counts" was repackaged here with partly new sounds - and as it sounds a small chord change in the chorus. Some other songs also got a slightly different "packaging" "Fly on the windscreen" for example. In recent years, this has intensified, like all the songs are repackaged in new versions nowadays, live. - Personally, I'm not very fond of these repackages, and I also prefer the original sound on Everything Counts". Preferably remixes of the songs live, but not repackages in the sound.
10" - absolute Mix, was inside. Yes, not a 12". Seth, you know the difference? In 1990 ETC was also different from 1987/88 -Tour. And 1983... ETC was the opening/intro song. totally different again. By the way, in East Germany - Leipzig (more than 80000 people)... the crowd sang ETC for almost 10 minutes, althrough everything was already over. What an experience....Seth, THX for your channel. It´s really a banger. Again and again and again and again and...... please more
They change up the songs live often. Its what makes them so fresh to us who have seen them live many times. Saw them in Chicago a few months back and the people in front of us heard a song they didnt know (john the revelator) and their app to recognize the song wouldnt work because the beat was so different from the album version.
Now that "Devotional" is over, we'd like to see or hear your summation of it in comparison to "Live in Hamburg" and "101" - which you reacted to before. Which one did you appreciate the most, which made the most impression, which was the best!
@@SephPlays 👍👌. We made a new Devotee ❤️. Love your reactions on Linkin Park as well. If you get the chance (copyright blabla) to do Placebo, you will hear Brian Molko was a huge DM fan as well.
Best tour ever that one. Very sad that Alan left after this, he did so much. Regarding Ultra, Alan was not replaced. Dave was in a bad place, it took him an age to do his singing and was not around much. Fletch was Fletch lol so no musical input. It was Martin that really stepped up, he spent alot more time in the studio. He could never replace Alan of course but he did a bloody good job on Ultra. Just an afternote, in an interview 2023, Dave said Ultra was his fave DM album.
Your JOY is infectious and always hurts my face. I don't think it's a mix that I'm familiar with, I think it's just something Alan came up. Next up the Ultra album and Exciter and One Night in Paris Live.
It’s a pity they didn’t show get right with me,pretty sure Alan played drums on it on the live cd that I had, and Martin singing one caress with the orchestra.
The next album is ultra and on the single tour Alen felt he was not given enough credit Andy the manager was to work without him or it was him or me. Still, a good album and tour since you have Martin as the chief songwriter.
@@annick7194 Front 242 have played 3 times in Glasgow.. One of which I've had the pleasure of seeing.. (they played recently (last year) in Glasgow ...Always welcome... It was 22 years between the first and second time playing here
Oh and have seen Belgium's other great export Star Industry at Whitby Goth Weekend in 2008. I was for ever chatting to Stijn ( RIP ) about playing a gig in Glasgow .. But alas it was not to be
@@annick7194 Star Industry are brilliant... Very goth but melodic.... Their 3rd album (Last Crusades) is where the Sisters of Mercy's "Floodland" left off
I love how passionate you are about the group! The Devotional Tour was so epic. It's too bad there's no full recording of the World Violation Tour, judging from the bootleg vids it was amazing. The quality of the recordings is very poor unfortunately. If you're interested there's snippets of it in good quality here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mZLe4KtIsS0.html It'd be great if you did a reaction to it :)
@@SephPlays Someone made a mix of the bootleg vids and the better quality segments with a full audio recording to recreate the concert if you want to see what the whole thing looked like: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S6CvWo7vx2s.html
I enjoy your reactions since I'm ecstatic of same music, but I hope you will try to show us what you're seeing, bluring it this much I don't think is necessary, but I know shit. Hugs from Sweden though .
@@SephPlays okey I understand , if I was more techsavy I'd help. I just think its crazy I see reactions to same without blur, it's like they target those that need it the mostk ,idk. Keep up the good work, hugs.
@@Pilutta100 another thing is that most other reactors only do a few songs of theirs and can fly under their radar very easily. I've done nearly 200 songs and im probably right at the top of their wanted list 😅
Those are NOT Huayras. Those are Zondas, & the one that pulled up with the same plate is a Zonda Cinque. Only 5 Cinque 's were ever built. The blue Huayra & Black exposed Huayra aren't Huayras either, those are Zondas. All special chassis too.. I'm shocked you called them Huayras lol.
Now, before you move into the Ultra era you have to react to the Exotic tour, at least to the songs not featured on the Devotional video and like some here say, react to Alan's departure and Dave's drug abuse problems, just to set the atmosphere to that MIRACLE that Ultra was
Here is a list of songs played during 1993 and 1994 not featured on Devotional, i think all of them have a YT Video with at least the audio: Sung by Martin: Condemnation, A Question of Lust, One Caress, Waiting for The Night, Death's Door, Somebody and I Want You Now (You have to do this particular one, it's a revamped version)... Sung by Dave: Get Right With Me, Something to Do, Rush (New remix, used as the Exotic tour opener) and A Question of Time (Rock Version!!!)
And speaking of live versions of EC... here's the most radical one... it's from the World Violation Tour from 1990... the tour that doesn't have an official live recording (because dm tought at the time that 101 was pretty recent as it was) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j00EgRvrIdE.html
And here is the closest we will get to an official release, it's from the DM official site, it's less than 2 minutes of video taken from the stage screens feed and with a decent soundboard recording for the time... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6elA0rTlUz0.html
