What a timeline! Have you ever been gifted a part and then realized that now you have more work to do than if you just said no thanks?
I got the first set of shocks from my good friend Hollie Fowler. Her channel is @MischiefMakerTV here on RU-vid. She is currently building an insanely nice giveaway Jeep with tread lightly, and the stock JLUR shocks were prime for the picking. I should have known that nothing is that easy!
After those didn’t work, I said fine… I’ll just order some Rancho shocks and go the cheap route. I found a set online that were advertised for a 2-3” lift, but when they arrived they were actually stock shocks, so they were WAY too small for my Jeep.
That was when I finally broke down and just bought some nice Bilstein 5100s that I knew would fit, because their specs were actually listed online. With a quick verification using a tape measure, I was sure that the third time was the charm.
Then, it was just a matter of installing them and testing them out!
Old, leaf sprung jeeps are not supposed to be jumped. I’ll leave you with that.
Luckily, the 35” tires helped push the fenders out of the way in the landing though so now it doesn’t rub as bad 😂
