CRAWL TV is a very fun channel. Here is where you'll find a pretty even mix of installation and 4x4 videos. I enjoy capturing content with my wife and friends and having fun on a budget, for the most part. If you choose to follow along, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed!
That was so awesome that you got those PRP seats for the Crawl TV crew. Cream puff is looking good and should be a lot safer on the Rubicon . Looking forward to your next video . Take care .
Thanks!! Yeah, it will be a total game changer! We’ll be installing the seats in cream puff for good this weekend and getting white lightning running. Sunday will be a progress day for the bronco!
That could be a fun video. I don’t know if we have time before the Rubicon Trail trip though. Do you have the new head machined, and all of the gaskets, head bolts, and fluids ready to go?
Luke almost bought avocado property in Fallbrook about a year ago. Sounds like you’re living his dreams. As far as the Jeep goes, we could give you a hand with it but I’m not sure when. Maybe after work some time next week? Otherwise it’d be a weekend after the Rubicon Trail trip in August.
I drive a yj, for your information 2003 caviler seats(2 door) were a direct bolt in on my 87,just need to space up the back mounts a little to get the right angle
I have a Iceco JP42, its the older version of what you have, and it's been in the bed of my JT-R diesel for 3yrs. I rarely strap it down, it tends to stay put fairly well. It's been over the Rubicon more than 6 times, it's my backyard home trail, so I'm kinda spoiled in that regard. It's made multiple trips through Death Valley including terrible sand storms, freezing temps, and triple digits on the regular. I've only had one issue, the cooling fan inside died, it's just a 120mm computer case fan, ordered one off Amazon and it plugged right in. I carry 3 fuse spares for it, never used one. Solid freaking unit for $$.
The main reason was that there was a JKU frame sitting in the corner of the shop. A JK frame probably would have been easier but we had that frame already sandblasted and prepped, with the body mounts and shock towers cut off of it.
Good question! I actually tried welding in a permanent splined quick release and ruined my steering column in the process so now it’s just bolted in with an adapter on a new column 😂
It’s not functional 😂 When I got the high school jeep, it came with the disclaimer that it had been rolled before. The tub is bent in the back corner, and the cowl is dented on the passenger side. The mirror was all twisted up when I got it, so I just did my best to straighten it out.
Hey Ron! I’m sorry we missed that trip! We were elbow deep in the first gen. I took your advice and we ordered a 1” body lift to run 35s. I need to get that body lift in before I make my final fitment on the panels, so that I know everything is truly square. Hopefully the front axle didn’t ruin your weekend and wasn’t an expensive break!
Someone had another axel and after strapped off the trail went back to the Moose Lodge and replaced the axle and back to the trail. No one was at the gate keeper and the three of us went thru. We ended up catching my group from earlier. They were stuck behind a jeep blown out ball joint 2 hours. Very surprised to see me. Adventure fun.
Thanks for the comment! Any tips on how to figure that out? I think another thing that was messing with me was the custom spring hangers and shackle reverse kit stuff. It looks home made, so I don’t know how much that adjusted the ride height 😂
I have a bunch of various videos on it in the High School Jeep playlist! If you want the general overview, it’s this: 1979 CJ7 304 AMC V8 T150 transmission (I will be swapping that out for a T18A here soon) Dana 20 transfer case Factory narrow track axles (for now) Shackle reverse kit with unknown lift kit brand Tom Wood’s Driveshafts PRP Seats, harnesses and steering wheel RockHard 4x4 harness bar Raceline monster beadlocks WARN locking hubs Baja Designs lights Optima yellow top battery And a bunch of other stuff I’m forgetting 😅
Oh! And as far as the axles go… Dana 30 front with 4.56 gears and a lockrite lunchbox locker The rear is an AMC20 with 4.56 gears and a Detroit locker. It also has TEN Factory one piece axles in it. Both axles have OX locker diff covers. I have a high steer kit from OK4WD and the steering is Rugged Ridge HD
So… you’re right. And thanks for the advice. We’re already so deep into this tub we’ll make it work. It’s a fun experience, getting to tear something apart and figure out how to put it all back together though 🫣
the crease in the hood is very common, its a weak point. I have owned three and two of them had it, if you up grade to gas struts to hold the hood open the kit has supports to fix this problem. hope this helps. dont forget to brace your tub when you remove it. my 68 was worse then yours and I had a blast fixing it up. dont get caught up in using one supplier, different suppliers have different kits and some are more complete then others
