Wendy was the 5th of 8 kids in her family born as JW's. She grew up with a very abusive father and a meek mother who didn't protect her. By four, she had been sexually abused by someone in her family.
In first grade, she remembers telling her mom about the sexual abuse, but she turned around and ignored her. Wendy felt like something was wrong with her.
Typically when Wendy's father hit her, he wouldn't leave any marks, but one day when she was 16, he hit her so hard he left marks all over her. CPS had taken her out of the home at this point. When her mom saw her face, she said, "why did he do that to you? Did he tell him to?"
She had to live in foster homes and could not go to the Kingdom Hall. The elders disassociated her from that. That's right; she was disassociated for not being able to go to the meetings because child services put her in foster homes due to getting beaten by her father. Crazy right?!?
That's how Wendy's story starts. She never went back to the hall since that time.
When she finally went to therapy about ten years ago, she finally felt liberated from the shame it had held on to her.
She worked with a hypnotherapist who helped her return to those events and remove some emotional charges from them.
She now works as a hypnotherapist and helps others.

Vevian and Wendy, I have heard some exjw testimony about family's tearing apart due to rape and abusive behavior but this one really stirred up my feelings for Wendy. I was a JW from the start and only got away in my 40's. I was beaten and abused as a child and now in my twilight years I still remember, but you Wendy are loved and you have risen above it. I am 68 but I wish I could have been there to stop it somehow. Vevian, you are wonderful to take on these abused children and let their story out for all to hear. Thank you both and Wendy you are loved, don't let anyone knock you down again! GB

Thanks for this program. I am not a JW, but have an older brother who is an elder in the cult. It's hardly Christian that you were abused then "shunned". Children should never have A.C.E. Adverse Childhood Experiences. Wendy had many. Being abused by a relative, her father, and being told Armageddon can happen any time. Children should not be hearing this. No wonder many ex and current JW's are the way they are from past traumatic experiences.

What a tragedy of justice 💔🤦🏼‍♀️💔 and what a incredibly strong women you are Wendy to go through the hell you went through, your mother did a horrible thing to sic the elders on you 😢! What parents will do in the name of following the JW rules 😢 Thank goodness you had a husband that stood up for you, but it’s so awful you went through all this. I commend you Wendy for your courage and dedication to help others now. Vevian wonderful compassionate interview, unconditional love is always the answer, thank you for reiterating that message 🥰♥️🥰

Unbelievable how her mother set her up with those elders without her even knowing about it, and coming right into her home! Too bad her husband wasn't home at the time, though that's probably how her mother arranged it.

I went through that. High school is tough cos you get pigeon holed quickly. I got categorized as " the Nerdy Asian dude". Hence I had to hang out with the Geek , Brainiacs. But JWs were nice to me. But that WAS in the 1970s
