I don't know how else to say it, I have cancer! This was definitely not in the plans. I just wanted to update you all on what's going on and what comes next.
If you want to help, I have a GoFundMe set up for my initial medical costs, will which undoubtedly be crippling.

The cancer rates are increasing among those who consume high amounts of sugar and carbohydrates, such as in vegan diets. This includes prominent figures like King Charles and Princess Kate. Personally, I opt solely for unprocessed meat, as statistical data indicates a correlation between the consumption of sugar and carbohydrates and the rise in cancer rates

Keep in mind that the algorithm biases certain topics. So it may seems that every young person gets cancer lately but that isnt true but it seems so because you are probably in a loop of cancer videos. The diagnosis and treatment for cancer is better than ever. Just want to make you hope that its maybe not as bad as it seems (dont want to play it down) but it can be terrifiying seeing so many people getting this diagnosis. Wish you the best.

I'm french one of my best friend, had in 2004 awful headaches, after one months, she had IRM and so on and she was diagnosed with a lung cancer that spread to her brain. She had an operation, and radio for the brain, and a chemo ( carboplatine and taxol), 20 years after she's still alive ! So don't lose hope if you have a good care for operation and treatment, you'll succeed to get over this

So sorry to hear this... here are a few things I learned working as a financial analyst for a hospital system. Medical Bills in the US are negotiable. Pick apart the bill and communicate issues to the hospital, they will lower the price if there is an error (there is always an error). See if you qualify for charity care (every hospital has to offer this). See if you qualify for Medicaid. If your cancer is rare you may qualify for free treatment at the National Institute of Health. Do not let fear of debt get in the way of treatment. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Tell this to the Canadians who know nothing about our medical system and how the US spends more money per capita on their citizens healthcare than any other country. We don't even have to pre-pay in taxes for supbar services and wait months to see a doctor.

I echo the above comments, the top comment needs so many more likes. I manage insurance contracts at a federally qualified health center (FQHC). A federally designated health center whose purpose it is to not only deliver primary care to Medicaid, Medicare, and uninsured patients, but provide resources for essentially all aspects of life to those that need them. In this case they could help with determining Medicaid eligibility, navigating insurance, helping with sliding fee scale eligibility which can provide little to no cost care, an affordable primary care doc, a care management team who might be able to assist with the chronic care management of this, and really anything else. An FQHC that has an outreach and enrollment team or care management team could connect you to resources at the health center or beyond. There also exist safety net hospitals who could provide hospital care that function similarly in terms of who they’re made to deliver care to, but of course the best help would be what the commenter above is saying. The quality of care provided by FQHCs and Safety Net Hospitals can wildly vary, some being as good as a normal health center or hospital, others being abysmal. But hopefully this information, in conjunction with the other comments, can at least provide an option that will help you better navigate the criminally confusing US healthcare system and get the care you need. There are so many resources out there for folks to utilize, the US just does a horrible job at telling people they exist. I sincerely wish you all the best.
@anyaw340
@anyaw340 4 месяца назад
@@KmusikOne Apparently, YOU don't know anything about our healthcare system, either! The fact that the US spends more than any other country on its citizens' healthcare is NOT the flex/brag that you think it is. Why? Because we're STILL unhealthier than the Canadians despite all of that spending and their wait times! Did it ever occur to you that we spend so much precisely BECAUSE our citizens are so unhealthy? Our citizens are so unhealthy because SO many people cannot afford preventative care and medications, so small problems become BIG problems that require BIG spending. Slightly elevated blood pressure that goes untreated turns into severe hypertension, which causes kidney failure and strokes, which forces people to show up in the ER one day needing critical care that MUST be provided; if they have no insurance, or are unemployed, it just might be YOU paying for that critical care. And when hospitals aren't fully reimbursed by the government (which they often aren't), that gets passed on to YOU in the form of raised costs for hospital services. THAT'S where America's spending goes. Lastly, we don't wait months to see a doctor in the US because SO many our nearly 400 million fellow citizens simply can't see a doctor, which frees up access for those of us who can. Look at this guy, who can't schedule an appointment with a doctor because he has no insurance. THAT'S why we can get sooner appointments. That's not something to be proud of. You also say Canadians "pre-pay in taxes" as if YOU aren't *after-paying* for people's astronomical critical care costs. In America, you're going to pay your OWN enormous bills, as well as the bills of many other people. In Canada, you "pre-pay" a reasonable, predictable amount in taxes, in exchange for no out-of-pocket costs for services that you WILL one day use yourself. If America's system made us healthier, you would have a point, but our health outcomes are inferior to Canada's despite America theoretically having the best healthcare in the world.

FYI, if he has a job where he has health insurance through his job (it just isn't active yet), he makes too much to qualify for Medicaid.

If it has spread to the brain, then it is likely he has stage 4 lung cancer. It is so hard to overcome. For anyone curious, here are stats as of 2023. The 5-year survival rate for those under 50 is about 14%. This means that only 1 in every 7 lives 5 years. Also, keep in mind that number is the average for young men and women. So it is actually inflated by the women, as men have far poorer outcomes comparatively. So, the chance of survival is lower. Edit: morally grandstanding because you're angry about the stats isn't kindness it is just keeping your head in the sand. Which helps no one.

Once his insurance starts in April, it will cost him very little, out of pocket. Usually it is a maximum amount per year and above that everything is free. I have first hand experience. My annual maximum out of pocket cost for all my healthcare, surgeries, and intensive care hospital stays with an average policy from the government marketplace was affordable. Employer insurance is usually even better. So he need not worry or rely on gofundme for insurance related costs.

Radiation is your best bet for your lungs and brain. Most don’t have bad effects from the radiation. Usually it’s fatigue. And you could set your radiation treatment could be set up for like Friday after work and recoup over the weekend. I am a cancer warrior going on 4 years. And mine had metastasized to the chest, lungs, lymph nodes and then the brain. Mine in the tumor in the brain was in the left front. With perfect edges so they did surgery and radiation 3 treatments. My cancer hasn’t taken me down I continue to work. Always look for the positive. Best wishes that you can find financial support and a clear picture of what your diagnosis is.

The insurance situation in this country is disgraceful. It’s hard enough to find out you have a serious disease without worrying about whether you will be able to pay for treatment. I retired in 2019 and went on Medicare. I was incredibly lucky that I chose original Medicare and Supplement G because before the next enrollment period I found out I had cancer. Now I will no longer be able to change my insurance but at least I already had selected the best possible for my current situation. Medicare is the kind of insurance everyone should have. In four years of cancer treatments I haven’t paid anything out of pocket. It is just unacceptable for someone to not be able to receive the treatment they so desperately need unless they have money. I hope you can resolve your insurance issues and start treatment soon and also that you will have a complete recovery.

I’m not in the medical field but had a family member with lung cancer that metastasized to the brain. First step for my family member was the biopsy and, after diagnosis, came the radiation. Hopefully the marketplace insurance gets you in the door to get service. You can always try to negotiate the patient responsible amount with doctors and hospitals. Maybe you’ll only be paying high out of pocket $ for the outpatient biopsy and, by the time you get the diagnosis and schedule radiation, you will have the better insurance through your job which will cover a larger portion of the radiation (after meeting out of pocket maximums).

Sorry to hear about your condition. You may want to research natural alternatives. I removed cancer on my forehead with a strict high ph low acidic vegan diet. I only did the diet for 3 months and the cancer never returned to my forehead. A couple years later though I had two metastatic melanomas removed from my back. The biopsy for that spread the cancer before the surgery, which I only know from it making my eyes go bloodshot, which stayed bloodshot until I was well again. I learned after the biopsy that 20% of biopsies do spread the cancer. Spooky, I know, but I would have rather known that ahead of time. I was already sure that the cancer was spreading throughout my body as I was experiencing unusual morning fatigue. I read up on my cancer and as my doctors had told me, it was only removable by cutting it out, and only found by cutting into it and biopsying it. So I decided to do nothing more after surgery. My doctors wanted to do more biopsies after I healed from my surgery, but I never went back. I was prepared to die after having read everything I did about my cancer. I seriously didn’t have any issues with that as I believed death was simply a transition from this world to the next, not a biggie 😅 My health declined over the next year. From the symptoms, mainly excruciating pain, I knew the cancer was spreading and how it was spreading. It started in a lymph node below my right breast, went down into the upper intestine, then in the lower intestine, the opposite lymph node, into my kidneys and brain. My heart seemed to be effected too, majorly, but I am no longer sure if that was from the cancer, as I’ve discovered since that I have a potassium intolerance which can make the heart behave how my heart was behaving back then. But it was really bad. I did come very close to dying. When I felt I was close to death, I made the horrible goodbye calls to my long distance friends and family. The next call they expected to be from my brother telling them that I had passed away. Then, shortly afterwards, I woke one morning from a strange dream. I’ve had very profound and random psychic experiences and dreams in the past, and while I knew this dream might have been that, I couldn’t tell for sure. In the dream I asked an Asian lady selling herbal medicine at an Asian market if she had any cure for my cancer. She proceeded to show me a very large water filled jar that looked like a small aquarium inside. There was seaweed growing inside and a honeybee flying around in the jar that flew down to the seaweed, as if it was pollinating it, flew back up, around, and went back down to the seaweed again. About that time, I woke up. I said a quick prayer, realizing it might be psychic, saying that if that’s a psychic message, I’m going to need help translating it. Then I set off to translate it. I realized right away that the cure, if there was indeed one, had to do with the seaweed and the honeybee. So I got on my computer and I researched honeybee and cancer. I immediately came across an article about how honeybee propolis was being used to cure cancer. They were using high doses of it, and some people were getting cured. When they talked about the type of cancer that was getting cured, it sounded a lot like what I had read about my cancer. Anyways, I searched seaweed and cancer cure and didn’t come up with anything about seaweed curing cancer. They only said it was used by the Japanese to counteract the physical effects of the atomic bomb. From what I already knew about seaweed, I pretty much knew that I would need to use fresh seaweed, as far as not processed like seaweed snacks. I also somehow knew I only needed to use a small amount with the propolis. I’m trying to make this long story short. So let me skip ahead. My brother and I immediately got the propolis and I started taking it. Within 24 hours, I was walking around talking and laughing like nothing was wrong with me. I was barely moving or talking prior as everything hurt and my heart was very weak. The article I had read about the propolis working on the cancer had said that it killed as much as 40% of the cancer immediately. I believe that. Within a couple days, we were able to locate fresh seaweed, and I added that to my daily regimen. I’m thinking back 10 years now, but as I remember, I was taking 2000 iu of propolis four times a day with a very small amount of seaweed each time. I always took it before bed and on an empty stomach before eating a meal. I believe the seaweed was working as a catalyst to make the propolis more effective. With my type of cancer came a lot of weight gain. Once I was on the propolis and seaweed though, the weight started coming off. Five months later, I returned to work. I’m still alive, and I’m still taking propolis and seaweed every day. Once a day, 3600 iu, but 2000 iu is sufficient.. in the morning on an empty stomach. You’re gonna hear lots of people talking about different cures. I heard it all 😂The thing is, all cancers are different. I have helped people by sharing my story, but I realize not everyone is going to be healed by the same method. So, if nothing else, I hope to inspire people to seek out natural alternatives. They are out there as there are people like me who have been cured by them and we feel blessed and love to share what we know with others. I will only add that I am not 100% cured. This remedy is more of a cure that you have to keep taking or else you’re going to get sick again. I know that from having run out of the seaweed from time to time, and I started feeling sick again. It also doesn’t seem to work on the exterior skin. As I have gotten more moles on my back which I can only imagine has something to do with the cancer. The propolis can be used on the skin as I’ve used the powder propolis mixed with water and moisturizer or other medication to put on the skin. I have removed strange moles from my face doing that.. and my cancer is the type that loves to show up on the face and spread. I know people with the same cancer who have lots of scars on their face from having the cancer cut off so many times. So my pretty face is due to the propolis skin extractions which I’ve done two different times on about six moles total, none in recent years. I however recently realized there’s a raised mole on my back, and with the help of friends, I am treating that with the propolis, while hoping for the best. It’s a lot bigger than what was on my face. I didn’t realize it was there right away because it was in the middle of my back. I only knew it was there when I felt it and then I had to ask my friends to verify. I can tell that the propolis is working, it is just a matter of how long it will take to extract such a large mole. it’s not huge, but it is larger than the ones that were on my face. It also may not be cancer because it looks like one of those raised moles that every older person gets. My advice is to not stress too much about the cancer, because stress can make you sicker. I truly believe that one of the reasons I was healed was because I never became sad about having cancer. I was like, OK, well, I guess this is the way I’m gonna go out. We are all going to die sooner or later, it’s just a matter of how, and when. I would remind people of that anytime they would say how sad they were that I was dying. People were always curious as to how I could be so happy when I was dying. I have always been a happy person, and I always try to find the joy in whatever I am experiencing. Enough said. My thoughts are with you. ❤

Joe, your cancer treatment sounds like a miracle from God! I think it was smart not to do a biopsy. It seems that even targeted chemo causes most people to die anyway. I like the natural methods myself. Could you tell me more about the seaweed and propolis to buy? How much you started out with and where to find the brands? I live in the States. Have a blessed Easter.

Every time I hear a story like yours (cancer, no insurance, etc.) I go berserk. I am American but live in France, and everything here would be covered under social healthcare - including rides to and from the hospital.

Good luck my man, you look like a bring-it-on type per person. More power to you. If it helps my sister recovered from Non Hodgkins lymphoma twenty years ago. She had the power of prayer (or a belief in a higher being) to pull her through. Hope my small contribution from Singapore helps.

It’s the terrible food that we eat. Processed foods and highly processed foods are bad for you but new enough that no one knows the long term health issues. Compounded by all the pesticides in our foods as well that again no one knows what the long term health issues will be and now you had PFAS in almost all drinking water and food which is known to cause cancer and you have a recipe for disaster.
