17:05 you actually have heard a reference to Darkwing Duck before, and you'll hear it again soon. When Goku goes Super Saiyan for the first time in DBZA, one of the lines he gives during his "I am a Super Saiyan!" speech is "I am the terror that flaps in the night!" which is one of DW's go to introductions.
@bulshock1221
@bulshock1221 Год назад
The entire first part of his speech when he goes Super Saiyan for the first time is a DW reference, as it's done in the style that DW did his self-introductions.. "I am the hope of the omniverse, I am the lightbulb in the darkness, I am the bacon in the fridge for all living things that cry out in hunger, I am the Alpha and the Amiga, I am the terror that flaps in the night, I am Son Goku, and I am a Super... Here are some interesting facts about some shows: -Gargoyles existence was due to Gummi Bears. Originally the show was supposed to be a modern version of Gummi Bears. The gargoyles would all be small mischievous characters. Thankfully they went a different route. -Chip & Dale not only talked about cults but unintentionally created one. In Russia there is a small cult that worships Gadget as a goddess. I wish I was kidding about this. -The Aladdin series had a character named Mozenrath who looked like an evil version of Aladdin. It turns out that was intentional. Apparently the character was supposed to cross over into the third final film, and reveal that they were actually long-lost brothers. That plot was altered because sadly the voice actor of Mozenrath committed suicide.

His criticism of Bonkers being derivative of Roger Rabbit neglects to mention one thing: Bonkers was originally SUPPOSED to be a Roger Rabbit show, but because Roger Rabbit was a joint property with Disney and Warner Brothers, the red tape was too much of a hassle for them to deal with, so they just invented Bonkers as a way of doing a Roger Rabbit show without Roger Rabbit.

Doug's passive aggressive towards Bonkers got on my nerves as Bonkers's voice got on he's and it's not even that bad a voice! It's a good show and now that Doug declared it "unwatchedable" most people won't even talk about it, even though it was one of the first shows on Disney+ opening day! don't always listen to critics unless you know it's gonna be bad and Bonkers is far from Bad.

If you’re wondering who Max’s mother is. She passed away before the events of Goof Troop leaving Goofy as a widowed father. @@theduckgoesmoo Disney steered away from shows of it's tone. No other Disney animated series has been made like it since. Granted there are dark Disney cartoons like Gravity Falls and some episodes of the 2017 Ducktales reboot, but none match that rich, Gothic tone of Gargoyles. But Disney rebooted Ducktales and made a live action Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers movie, so anything is possible
@calebgoodman3028
@calebgoodman3028 Год назад
@theduckgoesmoo It’s actually rather sad what happened. There was fallout with the staff after the death of the Disney president of that time and to add onto the struggle the public trial of O.J. Simpson stole audience attention. By that point they couldn’t compete with other popular shows like Power Rangers. The result led to a short season 3 and then it was canceled. I highly recommend it though, it’s one of the only shows that can compete with Avatar when it comes to quality.

Gargoyles is easily the best TV series, animated or otherwise, that Disney has _ever_ produced. I'm totally not biased due to the Scottish characters and mythology, what would give you that idea~? For example one of the villains who is a gargoyle turned everybody in New York to Stone at night. And there’s a scene where she’s just happily walking through the streets destroying statues. Sometimes with a mace sometimes with a laser gun, there’s one statue she shoots the arms off of and walks away. And the really twisted part in the morning The humans are no longer stone.

I used to give Doug way more credit than I do now. He made good points about Goof Troop and Bonkers, but then after that, it seems like he just got older than the shows' target audiences and since he remembered not liking them, he just made up complaints. How's he gonna complain about Dan Castellaneta's performance as Genie in Aladdin? Yeah, it was a tv show, so the writing wasn't always up to par, but Dan's ALWAYS gave it his A game and his performance usually made even the mediocre lines go over alright.

To be fair, it wasn't so much they replaced Robin Williams with Homer Simpson as much as Robin and Disney had a huge falling out after Alladin. Basically, and to be honest there is more too it than this but, Robin agreed to a paycut to be in Alladin if he wasn't marketed as being in it more than he was. He was in about 25 percent of the movie so Disney agreed to only use him in 25% of the advertising. They quickly went back on that word and also were upset that he was in an other animated property at the same time despite the fact that Robin agreed to be in that first. That is why he isn't in Alladin 2 but because he made amends by Alladin 3 he was in that. Lindsay Sterling does a great video essay on it on RU-vid which kinda ties in considering she started off as Nostalgia Chick.

I think 2017 or 2018, the premise was the same but with a modern twist and even giving 3 of the protags from the old show; Huey, Dewey, and Louie a lot more character and depth compared to their 90s counterparts. Even bringing in a bunch of characters not just from the original Duck Tales as callbacks, but also characters from Darkwing Duck, and TaleSpin, Chip and Dale, and even made a subtle reference to the Gummi Bears show in one episode... The toys included in cereal were generally not great quality - the ones you had to mail in box tops for were a step up, but not by much. Regarding the Legend of Zelda cartoon, very early on they made a Super Mario Super Show. It featured live action intros with a retired WWE wrestler playing Mario. Four days a week they would throw to a surprisingly good Super Mario cartoon. And on Fridays they played a Legend of Zelda cartoon. But at the time, there was only the first Legend of Zelda game to base the cartoon on. It was actually not that bad for how little source material they had.

Captain Lou Albano was great as Mario. Danny Wells was a perfect Luigi too. They actually had ex-wrestler Sgt. Slaughter on there a few times. There was three Mario cartoons. One for the first game dispite having 2's enemies, one for the 3rd game and one for Super Mario World..

Let's be honest the real reason everyone's so goof troop in the 90s was because of Pete. But they forgot to mention this 2 Disney afternoon cartoons: 101 Dalmatians Hercules the animated series

By the time those shows premiered, they dropped the Disney Afternoon name. It was still the same block, but they didn't call it that anymore, which is probably why he didn't cover them.

Dan Castellaneta as the Genie actually kinda works if you watch the show itself. The problem is that anyone trying to replace Robin Williams in any role is going to come up short by comparison.

lol I literally watched _ALL_ of these shows as a kid growing up.... Darkwing Duck and The Mighty Ducks were _favorites_ of mine, along with Gargoyles. literal _S_ tier shows I never missed. Bonkers wasn't actually bad either. I seemed to remember looking forward to it about as much as Angry Beavers.... (an A Tier show) The Alladdin show was also decent (B tier; probably the best of the Disney movie-to-show shows. and none of them were bad either) Chip and Dale rescue Rangers was good. Talespin was _surprisingly_ good... Goof Troop really wasn't bad... I didn't really care for Timon and Pumba, but definitely something you could just throw on and watch. and you know what? I actually really enjoyed Quack Pack. Duck Tales was ok. The dog and cat show you can be forgiven for thinking was like some kind of odd mandela effect or something, lol I only _vaguely_ remember seeing that show, and only for like an episode or 2... Gummi bears was just ok. I would always compare it to Care Bears, and I liked them better ( _mainly_ because of the Care Bear Stare; good defeating evil directly with superior force; as far as I can recall, the gummi bears would just run away a lot to solve most of their problems, or do something involving subterfuge or their wits....)

I don't know if anyone mentioned much of this but there was this Ducktales Reboot that's actually pretty well liked and improves on the characters but it also has bits of the rest of the Disney Afternoon here and there, the Gummy Bears were an ancient race and the villains were after their juice for their own purposes, the Rescue Rangers were originally non-sapient lab rodents who had their intelligence enhanced by the villains' experiments and went off on their own adventures, Don Carnage appears as a recurring villain and arch nemesis to Dewey (The Blue duck kid) and the kids from Talespin appear in the show being all grown up and even having history with the duck boys' mother, Darkwing Duck was a show within the show that had a botched movie reboot and the new actor brought it to life by becoming an IRL (still in-universe) Darkwing Duck, they have an episode that references Quack Pack and sitcom shows with Goofy in his Goof Troop attire as a guest star, Bonkers is shown as a police officer in the city Darkwing operates at and is shown being menaced by supervillains, we even have Mickey Mouse appearing by not appearing in the form of a Mickey shaped melon that Donald Duck puppets while imitating Mickey's voice and mannerisms and even Gargoyles gets in on it with this Gargoyle horse creature voiced by Goliath's voice actor and even saying his iconic line, at least I think that was it.

I read that Tailspin of using Jungle Book characters was an idea that the animated characters we see on TV and movies are like real actors. That being actors preforming different roles. Doing so wanting to incorporate the idea they were real and taking different roles influenced by Roger Rabbit where the Animated characters we know are struggling actors looking for new roles to entertain. I like this idea and could of been interesting if used smartly paying off or against at the right times with various characters.

The reason they didn't get Robin Williams back for the genie is because he was never interested in coming back as the genie in fact Dan Castellaneta has voiced the genie in every appearance the character has made since Aladdin 2. and the reason Gilbert Gottfried's name probably sounded familiar to you is because he unfortunately passed away earlier this year.

To be fair with the deciding to not use Robin Williams was that at some point after the first Aladdin movie but before the second. Robin said that he was never going to work with Disney again. So they kind of didn't have a choice.
@theduckgoesmoo
@theduckgoesmoo Год назад
Wait why did he say that
@phillipjarvis5754
@phillipjarvis5754 Год назад
Cartoon lover that he was, Robin was so excited to be part of a Disney animated film that he insisted on a lower salary. He mostly put it in his contract that he barely appear in marketing, and not at all in merchandise (Genie himself could appear, so long as Robin and his performance never came up. Genie also couldn't be the focus, so there was a limit on how big he could be on the poster). His friend Barry Levinson was working on the film Toys, and Robin didn't want to overshadow him with that film releasing a month later. Disney's Jeffrey Katzenberg so blatantly ignored this that it wasn't until the third Aladdin film that Robin gave them another chance (Jeffrey had resigned by then). There is more to this, but those are the basics.

Eek! the Cat and Courage the Cowardly Dog were very much loved for different reasons. Eek! Was just so lovable in his naive rose-colored view of the world. He'd invite a chainsaw murderer to dinner and not realize that he was in danger. Courage was always trying to save his naive human being family from the supernatural dangers that only he seemed to be able to perceive. Neither were for children, actually.

Ren and Stimpy was one of the very first cartoons on Nickelodeon. It had a lot rude humor and creepy animation. It was a great show. It would not fly today. DuckTales has a reboot series that came out in 2017 that is 100 times better than the original. Also, Doug wasn't using air pods. Those are ear phones, they were invented before air pods even existed.
