As someone who unfortunately lives in the United States I agree, if my appendix burst my family would go bankrupt, either that or I would be so hesitant to go to the hospital (because of going bankrupt) that I would just die in my sleep.

Our government financially drains you through taxes so you don't notice it as easily. Since healthcare is limited by a budget, we generally have the worst doctors, under staffed and under equipped hospitals, and massive wait times. My friend sat in the ER for 13 hours with a collapsed lung before a doctor got to him. To which they didnt fixed him properly... twice.. so he ended up getting the same surgery 3 times. DO NOT CONGRATULATE CANADA FOR OUR HEALTHCARE! Its worse than US healthcare. Dont people the dumb asses in USA who want universal healthcare so bad they will promote foreign countries as these healthcare utopias. Its just not true.

Mine too it’s pretty scary cause my dad went to a clinic and the doc told him to go home and rest but he decided to go to the ER instead and they sent him into surgery within a couple hours

My appendix bursted when I was 16, I was also very near death but my recovery was very successful from the first day after I got to the hospital, also in Sweden they don't take out the appendix if not necessary, so technically I still have it.

Fuck man, that's a terrible thing to go through. A vet told me my dog probably had un-operable cancer and that we'd have to put it down. We took the dog to another vet, he did some exams and it turns out they could easily extract the tumor with one operation. I was panicking then, so I could not imagine that same thing happening with my mom or dad.

@frionx Nope, when they transferred him to a different hospital, the following morning they ran a few test and determined he had an abcess on his lung. Long story short he didn't make it. 13 days later he passed.

Honestly it depends on your body and health issues. I had it and I have fibromygalia so the symptoms were so similar it took a few months to realise I had appendicitis, and I was pretty much passed out every day and vomiting all day, unable to eat. Other people know straight away. Some people it's life threatening, sometimes it's not.

I had severe appendicitis when I was 12 or 13, it was painful but after the surgery, I healed up just fine. I was scared too but if I could get through it, you can too

yeah, my dad's appendix ruptured when he was early on in college. it burst when he was on a train and the way he described the constant vomiting and the pain was so scary because it happened to my dad and many of his relatives, so there's a high chance it will happen to me too. luckily death rate is very low if you get to the hospital before or soon after it ruptures (0.08% before rupture, 0.5% afterwards)
