American Gangster doesn’t get the same recognition as reasonable doubt, blueprint or black album but it’s low key arguably his best album. Underrated classic.
I'm addicted to this version of the song. I revisit this video at least once every month. Live instrumentation is a must for artists in my opinion, it just achieves so much more than the regular in-studio sound.
The word play in this song is sick! Hes a genious at what he does. Rap needs him he sets the bar so high. And....the two dudes in the back on the horns are the same guys in Maxwell's band. The must be very talented.
My HOV EPIPHANY 😉 came when I saw "Fade To Black" ...something happened to me and I haven't been the same🤷🏾♀️🤦🏽♂️..and then when I saw him in person 🤯🤯😰😭💙💙💙💙 I'm not him so I don't know to describe it...suffice it to say...I know how you felt 😉😂😂stay BLESSED and ENCOURAGED 🙏🏾🙏🏾
1:49 - 1:53 As an aspiring performer, I LOVE seeing those moments when the whole band is rocking out to a smooth ass groove. I can't wait for that to be me with my band!
This is probably my favorite Hova track..idgaf, for me its a metaphor portrayal of the similar effects a powerful love and a powerful drug have on an individual. Pure genius. Also, although its dope to play whenever its especially wavy to do so in the fall & winter, trust me.
@cortezarmstrong True, we all have our day. It's the nature of the industry. It's a beast! MJ, CB, Prince incorporated James Brown style. Like I said alls fair in love and hip-hop. I don't live their day to day lives. I'm just going to be a fan! 🎶
How could you deny me So vehemently Now your body is shaking Trying to free it of me And your soul is in control Trying to lead it from me And your heart no longer Pledge allegiance to me Damn: I'm missing the days when you needed me!!
Really!!?😳 WOW!!! I always wished I could have been present at this shiw!! So iconic and to be in that type of intimate venue with HOV!!!?🤯😱 would have been #fangoals😍😍

To me the song is about 3 things depending on how you look at it. 1: drugs to an addict 2: a man to a woman 3: a woman to a man thats just my point of view
Cold sweats occur wen im not wot her mu présence is a must must must bonita AppleBum i gotta put u on if i didnt wen we cuttin da feeling will be too strong an any form im giving u sweet dreams dat sugar him she calls her sweet thing that black rain
I think when we look back at the years 2006-2016 we're gonna see that it wasnt Kingdom Come or BP3 that didnt solidfy Jay Z as the Boss of rap... it was American Gangster. He still has a lot left in him too!
