Welcome to Kerbal Space Program 2. Kerbal Space Program 2 is the sequel to the acclaimed space-flight simulation game Kerbal Space Program. Enter the next generation of space adventure with exciting new parts, stunning visuals, fully revamped UI and Map View, and rich new environments to explore. In this episode of Kerbal Space Program 2 I try my luck at landing on the Mun, I hope you enjoy, thanks for watching and liking.
More Kerbal Space Program 2: • I Know Nothing About S...
About:
The original Kerbal Space Program is one of the most beloved games of all time and, years after its release, it's bigger than ever before. Its sequel, Kerbal Space Program 2, has been fully redesigned from the ground up to meet the demands of modern and next-generation space exploration, all while maintaining the monumental foundations of the first game. Build a space program, construct powerful spacecraft, and navigate expansive celestial bodies as you explore cosmic mysteries.
Key Features to come during Early Access
Next Generation Technology
As the game updates progress, players will gain access to a whole new set of next generation tools and technology including new engines, parts, fuel, and much more. This new tech will not just create novel puzzles for players to solve, but will also enable new feats of space exploration within and beyond the original Kerbolar System.
Colonies
Brand new to Kerbal Space Program 2 are colonies. Colonies not only pose their own physics challenges, but also require resource gathering to build structures, space stations, habitations, and unique fuel types. Eventually, these colonies become advanced enough for vehicle construction, propelling deep space exploration and beyond.
Interstellar Travel
Next-gen tech, colonies, and systematic resource gathering all lead to a whole new level of exploration: interstellar travel. In Kerbal Space Program 2, interstellar technologies pave the way to a host of new star systems and celestial bodies, each comprising novel challenges and harboring secret treasures. Among them: Charr, a heat-blasted world of iron; Ovin, a ringed super-Earth with relentless gravity; Rask and Rusk, a binary pair locked in a dance of death; and many more to reward exploration.
Multiplayer/Modding
The technological developments made to the foundations of Kerbal Space Program 2 will build on the beloved modding capabilities of the original game, as well as deliver on the long-requested addition of multiplayer. Soon players will be able to share the challenges of deep space exploration. More details on these features will be revealed at a later time.

That ascent profile has been outdated for over 8 years now. It used to be the way to do it before KSP 1 got an aerodynamics update that changed that (and there's no reason to assume they'd have worse aerodynamic system in KSP 2). It still works, obvously, but it's definitely not the most efficient way. Best ascent profile for an average rocket you get by gradually pitching east almost off the launch pad.

technically the moon does have a loose atmosphere like most moos do but its very weak and you would need a specialist parachute that is both able to catch enough of the atmosphere to slow the craft but is also light enough that it isn't heavier than the atmosphere its catching which to this day i believe has been ruled out but i do find the attempt quite amusing also you can lock your stages so that you don't accidentally trigger them or if your planning a mun to kerbal re-entry it may be easier to remove them from the staging list and then just trigger them manually with your mouse

Drae I love you man and I’m so excited that your starting your kerbal journey, just so you are aware the little triangle that you were referring to as fuel is the Greek letter Delta . Delta-v (more known as "change in velocity"), symbolized as ∆v and pronounced delta-vee, as used in spacecraft flight dynamics, is a measure of the impulse per unit of spacecraft mass that is needed to perform a maneuver such as launching from or landing on a planet or moon, or an in-space orbital maneuver. It is a scalar that has the units of speed. It doesn’t mean how much fuel you have it symbolizes how much ability you have to change your direction

Quite impressive - it gives me hope that with KSP2's tutorials, it gives you a baseline of knowledge such that new players such as yourself can eventually get better and better each attempt. The BEST single piece of advice I can offer is that in order to do MANUAL (not with mods or tools that automatically do the burns for you) precision burns is best practice to lower your Thrust Limiter (parameter on your engine) prior to plotting your burn. If for the same DeltaV, a burn takes 15s on 100% Thruster Limiter, vs 60s on 25% Thrust Limiter, then its MUCH easier to get the precise burn you wanted with the longer burn using less thrust. You can also adjust the throttle during the burn (Thrust Limit is the max thrust of the engine, Throttle is between 0 and 100% of that Limit) - this is often used when ascending through the atmosphere - you want LOTS of thrust when at very low altitudes to "get through the soup" - however you want to lower the throttle in the upper atmosphere. LOTS of additional concepts to learn to become good at ascents, however just remember that you dont want to burn the ENTIRE way up at max throttle, even if doing a good gravity turn. Burning the ENTIRE time can only work well if you lower the throttle the higher you go (and remember, your Thrust to Weight ratio drastically increases the higher you go, because a) less gravity effect at higher altitudes b) the longer your engine burns the less fuel you have - both A and B dramatically lower your WEIGHT, thus increasing your TWR) - dont worry about TWR right now, they forgot to display it during flight, but that is fixed in 0.2 FOR SCIENCE!!!
@stevenmiller279
@stevenmiller279 Год назад
I hope you do more of this! Couple of tips! Check your delta V, this is a measure of how much energy your rocket has, every destination has different requirement and it doesn't make sense to take more fuel with you then you need! Second big tip, check the engineers report specifically for your lift to weight ratio and make sure it's greater then 1! This will ensure the rocket will actually leave the pad

If that happened, turn off engines and "glide" to your 80-100km height. There (if its like ksp 1) add a maneuver to make an even orbit, then aim in the designated direction and throttle up until ita not needed anymore. I just wanted to mention this cause it came up a lot in the video: I haven't played KSP2 yet so I'm not sure if it's the same, but in KSP1 the atmosphere around Kerbin ends at 70km (that is, there is no drag whatsoever). In fact, if your periapsis was slightly higher on that first orbital attempt (maybe something like 60K or above), my guess is that you probably would've had enough energy to complete an orbit and circularize.

so the triangle and the V drae stands for delta V which is your change in velocity basically if you have a forward velocity of 1,000 m/s you would need a delta V of 1000 to stop yourself completely if i understand properly. you started the burn needing around 1k deltaV and will have around 1k left meaning he most likely will need a close earth orbit or just send himself in a burn towards the earth until he hopefully falls in orbit. i know nothing of actual rocket science but this is just my best guess at how it works
@connordaly1953
@connordaly1953 Год назад
Hey Drae there are some things online called Delta v maps, they give you useful info on how much deltav is required to get to and land on different planets or moons. you can tell how much delta v you have by looking above your fuel meter, that number is how much delta v your craft has. The map may be a bit inaccurate as sizes of planets and atmospheric conditions may have changed but you can get an idea on how much you should have. also, in ksp2 the height at which the at which the atmosphere ends should be at 70km high, if your anywhere below this line your craft will start to deaccelerate and burn up. you can tell when your craft will be too low if you hover over the orbital points, if any of those two points are lower than 70km, as i said, you will burn up. If you do read this hope it it helps. Goodluck!

I like how you just watched the tutorials and are actually getting to orbit and asjusting the periapsis n whatnot, apparently they're good. Now you said retrograde burn while I thought you were doing what's actually called prograde burn, but I'd have to check the terminology because technically when the front of your spacecraft points prograde (in the direction it's moving), your engine points retrograde (in the opposite direction of travel), so... the flame of your burn _is_ trying to go retrograde but from how I knew, it's the spacecraft's nose that counts here: Prograde burn = a burn "forward" to increase speed n raise apo/periapsis Retrograde burn = a burn "backwards" to slow down n lower apo/periapsis

you know the tutorials are good when drae can understand orbital mechanics.

22:06 drae you can "crash" into mun just when you close in on mun start burning when your like 100-200 meters of the groundand you should be chilling but idk if youd have enough fuel to get out
