The umbrella jump was the exact moment I fell in love with Logan. As a sanguine personality and an autistic person, the Life and Death Brigade is my sweet spot, because it is spontaneity and adventure but with easy-to-understand rules. It's a challenge, navigating life with a personality that means your main goal is to have fun, and yet having a brain that runs similarly to a database. (If-Then-Unless) One aspect often contradicts the other and creates this extraordinarily beautiful, yet thoroughly confounding, dichotomy. I may not ship Logan as Rory's endgame, but I do view him as essentially her "Christopher" a chapter in her life that, in my opinion, needs to happen for her to step out of her comfort zone and grow. (Not in a moral sense, because he certainly has his flaws, but rather in a -Rapunzel leaving her tower for the first time- sense.) Also, Joe, I agree that golf is boring, but as someone with Scottish (in addition to English and Irish ancestry) I feel compelled to be supportive of it's general existence. Which I achieve through an occasional enjoyment of mini-golf 🤣🤣🤷😅
I dont like Logan personally, i just want to punch him in the face sometimes, but not as much as dean lol. But he is probably the best match for Rory we've seen. Story def takes a different turn for a bit. All the Luke scenes are hilarious though. Emily is the queen of backhanded compliments what a skill lol
Also I really loved Doyle's "All the President's Men" reference in this episode! I recently started the Rory Gilmore reading challenge (which is where you read every book she read), and I'm over halfway through All the President's Men right now. It's slow going because I personally have to be in the right mind for politics, but I definitely recommend it for anyone who is either interested in journalism, or politically minded, or both. ☺️👍
@@CareBareTwinkell yeah, it's gonna take years if not decades, though thankfully I've already read a few of them which will at least help a little 😅🤷 The biggest struggle is that I'm learning Spanish, so I'm choosing to read some of them in Spanish in order to improve my Spanish language skills. 1984 is one I am reading in spanish and I have to pause at least two or three times per page to look up words I don't know 🤣😅 It's gonna feel really awesome when I eventually finish it tho! ❤️

Dean is the porridge that’s too hot (quick to anger & insecurity), Jess is the porridge that’s too cold (emotionally & communicatively distant, hard shell to crack). Logan is the porridge that’s just right… like if Jess’ intellect & Dean’s warmth had a baby. Okay, I’m mixing metaphors now. Logan is a three dimensional character with flaws like anyone else but of the three love interests, he’s the best suited to Rory (or Goldilocks, to finish the metaphor 😂)
exactly he has flaws for sure but that also means the writers put a lot of effort into creating his character so that he’s a complex character and actually has a personality rather than being boring as hell, i love logan for rory and honestly i love his personality
@@abbyo6578 actually, i think the writers did not put a lot of effort into creating his character, neither is he that complex. he barely has any significant storyline or scenes that establish him as his own individual character. he is always in the background of rory, the scenes that show a lil potential of sketching him out better mostly end up just feeding the rory storylines. he is not boring but i do think he is kind of one-dimensional or not that complex.
He’s so over hated in my opinion. By far my favourite, he’s honest from the start, the first guy who actually follows through with developing for the better with her, and he doesn’t put her on a pedestal, and supports her and matches her in action and level.
Love Logan! I feel like the only people that dont like him is because hes rich and around when Rory is her 'least likeable'. But they also shape each other into grown ups and hold each other accountable when need be
I actually love Logan! In my opinion he is the best love interest, and both him and Rory really develop quite well during their relationship. And I'm probably one of the few ppl who actually like Zach & Lane together. It's kinda cute how awkward they both are at the beginning and yes Lane looks happy 🥹
it's annoying how hot Logan is. it really is. I want to hate him I just can't seem to be able to he's too cute I have to say, I never got Emily's deal here. when she first met Luke she was all for him and Laurelie getting together... that's how I remember it anyway. then now he's the devil. I don't really get it.
In S1 in the hospital Emily seemed to like the thought of Lorelei and Luke together and now suddenly he's not good enough and it's all drama. Kinda feels like inconsistent/ opportunistic writing and I hate the storyline. Logan is growing on me more the older I get lol.
i don't think emily ever like the idea exactly she just kind of noticed it as inevitable and wanted it acknowledged. so she could tear it down probably. called them idiots but she likes to set people up so she can knock them down. and hey presto just 4 episodes later she drags out the possibility of feelings from lorelai and says "now we can discuss what on earth you could possibly be thinking". so to me that's showing very early S1 consistency with her season 5 attitude.
I feel like this is the episode where you see Emily's true colours, I know you've liked her up until this point, but I hope now you can see why a lot of us don't like her, her and Richard only care about money and status and how people view them they want people to see them as high in society And they think Luke is dragging Laura lie down, they don't think about it in terms of her happiness and they would rather her date Christopher then Luke because at least Christopher came from a wealthy family they don't care if he's actually a good guy or not they only care about money and status, I guess on the bright side this is what brings Emily and Richard back together, if you want to look at it that way. Also although Luke makes some mistakes within the show, I think he is one of the best male characters and love interests, I do think that Logan is better than Dean and maybe better than Jess, but a lot of people blame Logan for Rory's decline. You kept asking why people don't like Rory, well it starts with Logan. I don't necessarily think he's that bad, but I see where other people have the problem, I still think Rory can do better though and it's sad she never got a really good love interested. I would say she would've been better off with Marty, but honestly he isn't that great either, I just think she deserved a really great guy and it's really sad she didn't get him. I still believe that Dave was the best guy in Gilmore girls like he is the best love interest the best all-round male character and it's sad he left, lane deserves so much better than Zach. Although Zach isn't bad necessarily, I still think it would've been better if instead of Gill, there was a different new guy that came into their band to be with Lane, who was more similar to Dave, not that girl isn't a bad character either, I just think line deserved better than Zach, he's not necessarily a bad character, it's just I think Dave was better and I think that would've been bitter in my opinion. Again, not that Zach is bad, but i still just don't know if putting him and lane together was the right thing to do.
i can't stand logan just for the record. last i'll say on it but just wanted you to know people like me exist even if it's just me on my lonesome. don't want to be a party pooper in the comments every time you enjoy him but also don't want you to read all these glowing comments and think it's a universal thing you and all of the viewers share bar none.
I don't think it's fair to say Dean is boring. Rory herself is extremely boring, so by association he was with her. And even in this episode where she could have had a crazy fun night, she was boring lol.
I don't think Rory as a character is boring, it’s her storyline in college kind of boring. Dean is definitely a boring person, his hobby is what, playing video games to avoid seeing his wife?
Please. You same haters will attack her if she does something adventurous like parties with Logan and his friends. If she's an honest, decent person, then she's "boring" but the second she's not the perfect girl anymore, then the blind hate train begins. 🙄🤦🏻♀️
Logan was fine at first... I liked him in season 5. But that was the only season lol. Rory and Logan were cute this episode, that whole storyline was great. They had good chemistry and it was fun that he got her to break out of her shell a bit. Though I think the whole club is kind of dumb. It was cute that Luke was ready to meet the parents… aww… just proves how much he loves her. I can't believe how Emily reacted to him and how snobby they were to Luke. I wish Luke would have stood up to them.
I feel like Logan seems to click with Rory in the same way Cristopher seemed to click with Lorelai at the start. The chemistry is definitely there, the banter makes Logan way more better matched to her than Dean ever was.
I cannot wrap my head around the fact that there are people that actually LOVE Logan. I mean, ok.. let's admit he's smart and interesting. I like his wit and his charm but that's the only thing he has to offer to Rory. From this point on, you'll see Rory's brilliant personality starting to slowly disappear. I am rewatching the show for the millionth time and every single time I try my best to make myself like Logan at least a little bit but I just can't stand that guy. Through season 5 we can see Rory's complete downfall. And I know some of you that are team Logan will say that Rory's personality just evolved as it's supposed to be when you're 20 and I agree on that.. but it's clear that her choices were all about him. She was completely focusing on him. Her life revolved 100% around him. That's the most unhealthy thing that can happen in any relationship. Their relationship was toxic and, even though exciting at the beginning, eventually pointless for Rory.
