I noticed more more foreigner decided to live and work in Bali. This made huges changes on our land, 1.000 H rice field turned into concrete, more traffic more waste produced. What i worry is the significant changed on our culture and nature. Lets love Bali, its nature, culture and the people. Bali for all

Surely living in Indonesia is much better than living in Japan, Europe, USA, Australia, etc. Much better food, much better climate, much better everything. I cancel my intention to live back to Europe. Really, eating animals, drinking alcoholic, etc for me is lifestyle of the poor and they consider as luxury based on their very poor natural resources parts of the world. Even Michelin top restaurants to top chef are only serving poor food they consider luxury. How many Indonesians are living abroad especially in Europe and USA? Only 0,0001% of the whole population in the foreign countries. And how many western foreigners are living in Indonesia? more than 8% of the the whole population. So who's real rich here? if you have everything at home why you should go out? ;) and even conquering?! only poor mentality and poor nature does that (western, north asia, middle eastern and surrounding, etc). #Indonesia humbleness misinterpreted as sign of weakness in western world also middle east and surrounding (because their nature is poor) but here humbleness and friendliness truly means as sign of wealthy nature, nourishing #Indonesia

Just a suggestion: instead of "waiting on the phone for hours" to speak with a Social Security Admin rep who may or more likely may not understand the intricacies of surviving spouse benefits and the timelines for same, call the SSA appointment line and make an appointment for an in-person meeting at a local SSA office. Accurate information is much more likely to be delivered there. I speak from two personal experiences with nearly disastrous incorrect information from SSA in applying for divorced spouse benefits and then obtaining survivor benefits when my ex passed shortly thereafter. May have to try several times for that in-person appointment as due to the pandemic SSA local offices are very short staffed. It's still worth the effort!

Take $1.5 mil and invest in reasonably safe dividend paying stocks and bonds you should easily be able to receive annual dividends in the 5% range with very little risk. Ifyou are willing to accept a little more risk you should easily be able to increase that to 20%. That would generate annual income of between $150,000 to $300,000 annually without touching your principle. Add this to your $20,000 you currently receive and you have an annual income well north of $100,000 easily. How far north depends on the level of risk you are willing to accept and how much you draw down from your principle annually. Sounds to me like you are in very good shape financially, far ahead of the majority, and should easily be able to do some traveling if that is where your priorities lie.

This woman obviously needs help with her financial dealings, and she has more than most. This is a good reason finance’s should be kept separate even at an older age. At 50 something we went to rework our will with a good estate lawyer. We had almost everything in joint accounts except our retirement accounts. Because I had so much more in my account he suggested our house get transferred to my wife only to keep what each owned balanced. We have done that, married 51 years my retirement account is larger but her taxable account is larger. I own a checking account with her on the account and she owns a checking account with me on it our emergency saving account at the bank is joint. If one of us passed away the survivor could live life without the saving of the other.

I’ve lived around the world including 16 years in Asia. I love Bali, but for me the downside of Bali is that it’s extremely busy all time and the areas where you are likely to live are extremely densely populated. A motorcycle is fine but when you have a family and need a car you run into the problem that parking in Bali is a nightmare. I did find the friendliest and most trusting people I have ever met in Bali, but the tourists there can be extremely disrespectful to locals and continuous drunk and I’ll behaved tourists get very annoying after a while. However, if it works for you then that’s great.

I'm a Balinese and It's good to see that he had better times in Bali. The story is inspiring. I also like it he respected the locals. But the phrase "I live better in Bali than I did in the US" is sounds like gentrification to me. I don't know, he probably said he made $140.000/year it means he made 2 billion Rupiah and he can live whatever the way he likes in Bali. On the contrary, most of Balinese people is on minimum wage. I also have a local friend that currently working in the US and he would say that he'd be pretty much like the life he made in the US because you know, the value of the money is significantly different.

Hi I'm Indonesian and I'm happy you love Bali. For those thinking of moving/going there, here are some honest reason why you may not want to: - People from countries with stronger currencies drive prices up, rendering the locals a harder time purchasing daily items. - Olumide moved partly because of the nicer non-racist Indonesian. In my experience, racism is still there although to a lesser degree. - The last reason is more of a suggestion. Visit other places, people go to Bali just because a lot others do, but the whole country is literally one huge Bali. Cheers, hope this give you more perspective.

No, old Indonesia was Bali but modern Indonesia is closer to the desert of the Middle East. Bali preserves what ancient Indonesia/Nusantara used to be before Islam came and change the culture and stop almost all artistic creations. Outside of Bali, I can not live a peaceful life. The Adzan and Islamic Prayers are so NOISY. And the culture outside Bali is not so diverse. The dances, music, paintings, sculptures are of the olden days. Indonesia nearly stopped creating native arts after the Islamic Conquest.

@@jacksableng4775 So you're saying islam should never came to indonesia because of it shift many cultural aspect? Just build your own time machine then and go back to the time where islam hasnt arrive so you can live peacefully there. You can also had an option to relocate yourself where there is no islam in an area. As simple as that. Little tips for you, if you really annoyed about adzan, just go to your local community leader in your area and tell them about your concern. Have a discussion, if you wanna make the adzan not to be echoes, tell them. Get agreement done. That was real Indonesian culture is, musyawarah. Just act instead of barking, it wouldnt solve your problem.

Olumide great to listen to a happy spirit. I am 74 years on this earth trip. I was born a Sicilian in 1947, I experienced race hate or being called names everywhere growing up in America. Made me have mixed up anger, sadness, and I felt segregated and looked down on. My parents named me Jerome which back then was a name black people used but most white-skinned were john, bill Pete, bob, etc. I finished school headed to Mexico where I was accepted and worked hard hours low pay but happier. Twenty years later I headed to Bali on the advice of a lot of Canadian ex-pats. I been here 32 years of beauty, happier moments than I can describe. People are unique wonderful god family friends and money is last on the list. I went back to America after a half-century, wish I had not it is a cesspool of anger, ego, competition, hatred, and drug problems with third world infrastructure. Sad but made me so happy to get home to Bali. Love to run into to you for a lunch someday my treat although your good financially.
