On the third of this month, I watched my girlfriend catch a nice 15 pound flathead in broad daylight in about 5 feet of water. I caught the fever and I didn't even catch the fish. Great content man, looking forward to more!!!!
thanks for the video, great catch and i am glad i am not the only guy who gets impatient. looking forward to the next one. i listen to the video during my 45 min drive and then watch it when i get home . makes the drive enjoyable
Great job Micka, that is the way to fish for one specific species... 44lb is my PB flathead, caught it on a 8"" white sucker..found a sunkin dock alog a steep rock bluff, had 3 rods thrown at the dock..
Great Video Micka! I got out on the kayak on a small muddy river yesterday for Flats and Channels. Finally a warm day here in Minnesota (72Degrees). Unfortunately no luck for me getting a video out but watching this was what I needed. 👍
Awesome video! First flathead got you to jump, 😆 🤣. I've been there. But, OMG, the big white bass head paid off! Very nice flathead, Micka. Watched the video early this morning, and I enjoyed it.
Dude , waiting for the actual spring fishing around here is testing my patience ! The water dropping out, then coming back up , then falling back out has them with severe lockjaw here . Guess i will keep watching you and Spencer and be jealous 😄
Man awesome video nice flathead can’t wait to get out there myself it’s great to see someone really enjoy what they do and are willing to share their knowledge
From my vantage, anytime you can put 45lb flathead in the boat is way more than worth the time for a video! That was a nice fish, and love watching you and learning from you. We only have channel cats where I live in WA, so love seeing you take in the big blues and especially the flatheads! Thanks for sharing with us!
Another good video , keep em coming !! Nothing beats a flathead . Hopefully get out on the Wabash river this weekend and try them Eva peg floats from ironside cat fishing .
Nice flathead brother. You are 100% correct about folks that catch lots of flathead wishing they can catch big blues. After I moved to Illinois from Clarksville and going from fishing the cumberland river to fishing the Illinois river id give anything to catch as many blues as flathead they just arent in my stretch of the Illinois. I aint complaining though weve got some toads up hear.
Yeah I would love to catch more flatheads. We have them fairly thick here but I just don't target them alot. But that's changing this year. Well for the most part.
@mickaburkhart14 sounds good!!!! Again dont matter what you target or what kinda content your videos cover ill gladly watch them all. My daughter and I are like kids waiting for our favorite cartoon to come on when it comes to your channel and a few others we follow.
Thank you Sir for all your Awesome Catfishing videos. Really enjoyed your catch & release of your 122lb 3 ounce Blue Catfish Wow! Which fights harder Flatheads or Blue Catfish ??? Always look forward to your Catfish Videos Sir!
I never got an official weight on my largest flathead from last year but it was about the same size, I figured mine was between 45 and 50lbs. I caught it, then I went downstream about 500 yards to the next piece of cover I had marked and caught another flathead in the 25 to 30 range. Be cool if ya can get another TN record for a Flathead. Video & Audio always great, you have your hands full out there! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Thank you. Yeah that's awesome. A flathead that size is definitely a trophy in my book. I'm trying to find that record flathead. I believe I'm all around it but just got to find it.
Well Done Micka! Dynamite flatty, 45lb flatty is a monster. That first takedown: I have pulled a lot of heads out of the mouths of catfish, tell myself to wait, hard to do. BUT, I have also waited only to have the catfish shallow and bury the hook deep, especially on heads. 2nd biggest fish last year I could not get the hook out, buried 12/0, the only thing I could see was 3/4 of the shank, the rest was buried, cut the line at the eye, cut the bait off of the hook, and released him. I am sure that big diameter hook will take forever to rust out, and certainly hurt the fish's chance to eat. Do you have any suggestions for cats that shallow and bury the hook?
Well thank you first off but no I really don't have any good suggestions on that. It's hard to say how long is to long on letting them eat it. Course if you don't go long enough you do what I did lol. It's hard to say what would be right in those situations.
Does your boat move around a lot while spot locked? I have a Garmin force trolling motor and the boat moves around too much to fish while on “anchor lock”
There is nothing in this world more frustrating than pulling up 45 baby channel cats in my 10 foot tape cast net. I have literally spent hours picking those boogers out. Definitely one of the drawback of catching fresh bait.
@@mickaburkhart14 really? I just bought a 17 foot boat and put a 24 volt terrova on it. Mind if I ask you how long your boat is, what volt trolling motor you have, and what your batteries are? Are they lithium and last but not least, how long are you able to stay spot locked for?
Are you fishing Cherokee lake in this video just curious my name is James Rogers I live in London Kentucky and partner I'd surely recommend if you ever get an opportunity and you may have already not sure but if you ever get a chance to ever fish lake Cumberland there monster blues and flats in there I know some personal friends that fish for cats and commercial fish and have caught some giants but you have may fished Cumberland I'd sure recommend going and fishing it i know some spots you ever get a chance look up London boat boat the ole dock isn't there no more and beaver creek
Where do you live/fish. I fish the Cumberland also but I think I you might Be a little north of where I fish. I usually fish Clarksville or Ashland city ramps.
@@mickaburkhart14 you are doing awesome with you tube bud. I like seeing fish don’t get me wrong but even more than that I LOVE how you are explaining what made you choose each spot and showing the graph a lot. I love that you don’t edit out all the chaos that happens on the boat. We all know it happens but most people edit it out. That makes it more real looking. I love the video of the second state record. CHAOS LOL!!!
I can sure tell ya s friend of mine that knows Cumberland like the back of his hand raised on Cumberland fished his whole life he commercial fishes it abd the flats ive seen him bring out of there weigh over 70 to 80 pounds and bigger plus the blues ive seen him bring out weighin over 100 pounds i inow there are flats in there that are monsters
