I own and have owned all authentic seiko tunas and sumos for the last 15 years. I wouldn’t have a problem wearing this fine homage. I really don’t care what others think what I’m wearing. 👍🏻💪🏻

So why did you only buy all authentic Seilo watches? Why not sell those, make some money and then save yourself money by buying a stable of homage watches?

@@maverickwatchreviews I wont sell my seikos or citizens etc…, but let me tell you the problem im having…. So i have a king turtle then also the steel dive knockoff. Man let me tell u….. identical except the SD has the lumed bezel which i love. So know everything i go to buy a new toy… i can’t justify paying 480 for the seiko to get less…. I dunno… it aint right for them to copy seiko… but maybe it isnt right for seiko to raise thier prices when SD and addiesdive give us MORE for alot less money…. Anywho ordering this bad boy now. Thx bud👍👍

Let's see, my Seiko Padi Turtle's stem broke. Boy, I hardly ever wear it. My second generation Monster sprung a leak when it was brand new and I had to replace the hands and face. But my two Steeldive Captain Willard homages have been working just fine. I guess it's that NH-35.:-). Thank you Seiko. Your parts work better in knockoff watches than in your own watches.

I love my ‘Willard’ homage that I bought earlier this year. Better watch than Seiko, for the money. And the bezel lines up!

I've got quite a few watches with nh35a movements and a Samurai with the 4R35, the Samurai loses time. The nh35a movements are very accurate only 2 gain more than + 5 SPD. All my Seiko's have lousy bezel actions which miraculously do align add to that Hardlex instead of sapphire (synthetic 🤣) and the godawful bracelet and clasps, nothing rattles and squeaks like a Seiko. These days if I like a Seiko design I look for a homage, get a better watch and save some money. No brainer.

The best homages are the ones that improve on the shortcomings of the original models. It is not about copying the look most perfectly, its about making the watch most usable and best value for money. And sometimes that means using a homage case but putting other markers and hands on the dial, amongst other things.

Addisdive and Steeldive make great homages for people on a budget. They are probably just as good, if not better than Seiko, tbh. Nice vid.👍🏾

I have no problems with homages, especially Seiko homages. They have to expect it if they sell their movements to anybody, and cant give us bezels that line up.

Well, every major brand (including Seiko) has tons of models that look extremely similar to each other's products. This Seiko itself is another Submarine-esque iteration, with minor changes (from a certain distance at least) among so many others. So what's the problem with this Chinese watch in particular? I think it's funny that nobody calls the Nautilus or the Tissot PRX as AP Royal Oak "homages"... Same goes for hundreds of Casios, Orient and Seiko models. Looks like this term is almost only applied to Chinese brands....

This is not a homage though, its a 99% replica of the original. Size, proportions, shape, styling, indices, hands, crown size & shape, everyting is a straight copy. Dont get me wrong, I also bought the blue dial version, I will pull it apart and do something with it. But lets not fool yourself with this being a homage. Its replicating the original do the last detail, except the logo.

Just where do you think Seiko watches are made? And by whom? They're made all over Asia by skilled craftsmen. The name on the dial isn't worth ten times the cost.

It is certainly an excellent watch. Watches should please you nothing more. I don't see anything wrong with using an homage. In particular my collection is modest based on Orient, Seiko, Fossil, Invita, bulova And of course a couple of casio and finally I dared to buy a steeldive Diver homage and I am delighted. It has everything for 90 dollars. NH35, sapphire crystal, Ceramic bicel. All stainless steel Actually an excellent purchase... I think in my opinion I am surprised because it is an excellent watch. You'll probably find it's better than a Seiko as everything lines up. I've seen professional watch repairers take them apart and have said they are very well-made. For the price, they are absolutely fantastic. Real eye-opener.

The Chinese are putting out a decent product, both in my experience and from the reviews I've been seeing. Truth is, brands like Seiko really need to improve their game and get back to where they once were. To shell out serious cash and get Hardlex and the (likelihood of) misaligned bezel, in this day and age, it's almost an insult to the consumer.

I just ordered a Addiesdaive "Hulk" Tuna homage for £44 GBP (Incl.Taxes & Shipping). That's an absolute steal. Can't wait to receive it and be able to compare to my Steeldive "Sub" homage, which has been running faultlessly since purchased. I'm certainly not embarassed to wear a homage watch. They allow me to get a flavour of the 'real deal' at a fraction of the price. I can wear them without fear of damaging them or getting mugged for my watch. It's easy to treat them rather like "Costume Jewellery" and have a selection to wear for different occasions without having to spend thousands. What's not to like?!

I can still remember when Made in Japan meant cheap and nasty products, with a lot of copies of Western products, including watches. This was up to the 1970s, and included cars which were famous for unreliability and cheaply made. However, from the late 1970s onwards, they switched gears and went upmarket. South Korea travelled the same path and in the last 20 years, have become innovators and leaders in certain industries. China is now on the same path too, but with the advantage of a massive internal market too.

Seiko and their over-priced, misaligned chapter rings/bezel, non-ceramic watches can go pound salt. I don't need the name Seiko --which is synonymous with poor quality control and shoddy workmanship anymore. They ain't what they used to be. THIS watch is beautiful. It's a shame other companies are making nicer watches with a NH35 movement, but Seiko stands around with their thumb up the ass.

That’s a nice watch! I have the steeldive captain Willard and it’s amazing too. Seikos are overpriced, why be loyal to that brand when I can have the same watch for a fraction of their price.

I have this watch, and I also have the original Sumo. Let me tell you , sometimes I like the addies better than the original. The bezel is better, lume is better and the price is better. If they ever do a Pougue, they will knock it out of the park.

My husband got a similar Chinese "Homage" from an unnamed website because the watch was SO close to the real thing, that he wanted to see if he would connect with it, like the fit, style etc., before we spent 10+ times the price for the real thing. We ended up saving the money, only spending a few hundred versus a few thousand and he gave away the "homage" to someone he works with who liked it. I know everyone has to start someplace, but if you save a little longer once you get that real thing, no matter what it is, you will have a real sense of pride and want to show it off, not be worried that you will be called out and embarrassed. It is pretty bad though when a Chinese watch company can get everything to line up WAY better than Seiko. Come on Seiko get it together !

Seiko does not care about hommage watches and their customers… many QC issues, even the 1000usd+ watches last Seiko i bought (gmt Sharp edge) has a misaligned dial😳 … 🇧🇪

Might as well buy a Sumo aftermarket dial, a better bracelet and installed it on this ad'sdive. i imagine it would end up being a modded Seiko? im not sure but this ad'sdive might be a sister brand to Steeldive.

Never could afford a Sumo but an Addiesdive AD2102 with a textured blue dial different from any Seiko dial for $105.99 was too good to pass on. Anyone seeing the dial on the AD2102 will know it is not a Seiko. As for Rolex and Omega homages not everyone can spend $5K to $12K on a watch.

Hey, don't feel bad about liking this watch - it has a Seiko movement, and is better made than the equivalent Seiko. I have a number of Seiko watches and this is a Seiko watch before they started with their QC issues.

All the specs are true you should check out the mysterious blue dial they do the mantaray dial only with bull sharks and in my opinion they do it better then Seiko and seeing I believe Seiko never did a mantaray sumo it feels more like there own watch then a copy

The 📦 is better than Seiko. I'll admit it seems 🆒️ and it even has some superior features compared with the Sumo ✅ However, as you 🗣 it's hard to tell if the 💧 resistance can be trusted. At least they didn't put "divers"

Here is where a Timegrapher would be interesting to see the accuracy of this type of watches. Although knowing the caliber. After all, it only costs a hundred dollars. This watch will serve as a lesson for Seiko to improve some of its products, such as the illuminated bezel, without having to pay extra for it.💵💰

I would definitely wear this watch, i actually just ordered 1 after viewing this video the issue for me is seiko's qc I bought a sbp179 per another vid u did and it's the only seiko I spent over 500$ on that's not misaligned and also seiko only recently started using sapphire and ceramic on there lower to mid tier watches and none cheaper than 400$

Check out their Halios Puck homage. The original watch is not nearly as well known as a Rolex or Seiko and also it's not in production anymore. Therefore I feel better wearing it in public because it's very unlikely that the design will be recognised by somebody. I didn't want an homage, I just wanted the best watch for this amount of money and I think that's exactly what I got.

It's got Seiko internals and Seiko design DNA. Just think of it as a modded Sumo or buy the real thing and mod it yourself.

Seiko Sumos are not exactly known for build quality, anyway. Sure the superficial details and case are good… but the bezels don’t line up, the crown is crunchy and unsigned, the bezel action is mushy, the bracelet sucks… I wanted to buy one but with those kinds of things it was overpriced, better to go with a Swiss brand.

Haha its funny you say you dont dig homage watch cos they are not creative, cant come out with their own design etc. But, did you notice how many youtuber that review watch out there? Doing the same thing, explaining the same watch. Almost the same camera angle, same frame work, same old same old, gosh so not creative and not original. Ehh what do you call that word again... oh yeah HOMAGE haha. Its not a copy, not a knock off, just an homage LOL. Intellectual rights? Nah I dont think so too. That doesn't make any sense...lmao. There are only a few ways to review a watch. Maybe I'll try reviewing a watch upside down, naked while drunk on the top of a skycraper using drone shots and that will satisfy your craving for a new way to review a handheld, small item lile a watch...lol.
