Smash 64 was the very first game I've ever played, I was around 2 years old when I experienced it. I've played every game in the series, and seeing Ultimate (literally the best game in the series) on the way while I have reached the age of 20 this year is quite overwhelming for me. From the very first game to Brawl, I've always seen Smash as a fun party game for all people to enjoy (even my friends from childhood who weren't gamers loved Smash). When Smash 4 came out (I was 16), that's when I was exposed to competitive Smash. I was living under a rock not knowing about the competitive aspect of the Smash community until mid high school, and trying to be a competitive player ruined my perception of why I loved Super Smash Bros. so much. Competitive play made me take the game seriously, and it made me hate playing it. After high school, I kept in touch with a few friends and we occasionally played Smash 4 both casually and competitively. Eventually, one of these friends became my girlfriend and I learned how much she loved Smash Bros. and her views on competitive play aligned with mine (of course, there's more than that that keeps us intertwined). Playing Super Smash Bros. with her really felt like I was a kid again because we played it like how we enjoyed it when we were younger; we tried role-playing like we were children while we're adults but it was a blast. My girlfriend basically helped me love Smash Bros. again. I like competitive play, but playing Smash Bros. like how it was me to be was the reason why I love the franchise. I'm never going to in the league of competitive players, but I'm a veteran of playing every game in the series deep down in my heart.

I don't think I even played the other game yet, sense I remember my brother came a few days after I got it. So he's basically the only reason I became a proud Nintendo fan.

It's funny because smash did lead to me playing the games that featured other smash characters like F-Zero and Earthbound. Even kid Icarus too.
