What have you done specifically for your hashimoto disease? I've recently been diagnosed with hashimoto's and I'm looking for things I can do to help me. Thanks!
Hi Linda, there’s an entire autoimmune disease management playlist here on the channel you can check out. There’s a video all about what to eat to reduce inflammation too-that one will be very helpful for you. Check it out! -Rachel
Hi If you don't mind me asking do you take thyroid hormone for your hashimotos? Euthyrox or any other. Also any suggestions for SIBO or where to start?
Hi Mandy, I was off my thyroid meds for many months and did well for a while but I am back on a low dose of Synthroid for a bit. I hope to be totally off of it in time though. For SIBO, it’s good to do a stool analysis and know what you’re dealing with. A proper stool test will tell you what treatments your SIBO will respond to and you can go from there. Antibiotics are an option many doctors offer but I resolved mine with a blend of herbs specific to my body.
@@FeastandFarmCooks no you didn’t. The question about coffee reminded me that a “helpful family member” sent me mushroom coffee that had I not researched, could have made my own situation much worse.
I'm in Kentucky. Our accents on my side of the state are a little bit southern and a little bit Appalachian which is usually the part that throws people off.
You selected my question!!! 😂 Thank you for answering my question. I've been cooking since I was 5, but I'm looking for ways to cook healthier and switching to honey is one of the changes I'm looking to make.
You are such a blessing to others. Always positive, always informative, always caring. Those qualities are part of the reason you must be an excellent nurse. It’s obvious that you truly care about others and wish to help. Your food blog and videos are just another way of caring and helping. God bless you on your own journey to better health. We need you! 🥰
Thank you first for answering my question. Yes it is very hard and confusing to find the truth on the internet!! I am going to look into some of the books you mentioned and I love your idea of Gods diet. That is the best answer for our food and life! You are a true inspiration keep up the hard work.
I just had to keep diet things simple and that's how I do it ;) Do read Nourishing Traditions (link in the description box) because you'll be shocked!!
Is there a yogurt you would recommend for autoimmune disease? I’m allergic to almonds and soy. Many of the unsweetened coconut yogurts contain rice starch. Is that a negative? I’ve wondered if nonfat Greek yogurt would be a good option as well? Your RU-vid channel is so helpful!
You do want to avoid grains when fighting autoimmune disease, so I would stay away from the additives. Also almonds, unless sprouted are out and soy is always out so no worries on missing those. My doctors who treat me are big supporters of raw dairy. Cow, goat or sheep's milk. Full fat for the A,D,E,and K that supports liver function and healing. Fat is very, very important as long as it's good fat. If you can't get raw where you are, look for non homogenized. It's the next best option. 👍
I just found your part 1 and 2 videos of your autoimmune story and WOW I am so inspired! That gave me SO much hope and keeps my faith alive. I cant believe what you overcame. I'm curious about the timeframes of it all because I see that you were doing recipe videos recently that weren't autoimmune recipes so I'm thinking this all happened kind of fast? Thank you for taking the time and energy to make those videos! I want to know so much more! What mental health things do you do to keep your stress down? What do you eat if you have a sweet tooth? I know you said you dont talk about what supplements you are taking but hearing that you're doing a heavy metal detox was interesting...is that part of the autoimmune issue or a separate thing? Did you get tested first? I probably should do that at some point but that might be too advanced for where I'm at right now. I just learned I have an autoimmune disorder so I'm trying to figure out what to do. Started with removing most inflammatory foods and eating more whole foods. I have so many questions but I'll stop there lol! I subscribed, so I look forward to hearing more! I'm really happy I found your channel.:)
HI Katie--so here's a rough timeline but you can watch my full story here on the channel if you haven't already for the details. 2009--Hashimoto's 2019--CIDP which seemed to strike overnight but I had symptoms for about 5 years prior to the "big" event 2020--Wheelchair/November 2020 started working harder on my health Mid 2021--Out of the wheelchair and recovering As for the food here, I kept trying to run the channel as it and my 9 year old food blog have always been for a while but I felt like a fraud and decided this March to change everything completely to reflect my beliefs. I can't keep encouraging people to eat food that harms their body when I've seen the power of it first hand. New recipes and content are coming to further clarify the new brand. Autoimmune disease is multi layered. So far my NTP has uncovered about 8? Maybe 10 issues that build up to the perfect storm including poor digestion/low stomach acid, an over burdened liver, genetic detoxification issues, heavy metals, SIBO and gut dysbiosis, Candida, poor sleep quality, diet issues (obviously), stress and several others. We continue to work on them and I'll make more videos to help you in the future. Just hang with me on it all! And yes, the metals are most definitely part of my autoimmune story we are working to correct. --Rachel
So your NTP did investigation work and LEARNED all of what SUPPLEMENTS Y-O-U need? This person only deal with CERTAIN issues? Thank you. I have Lyme, Babesia, mycoplasma and that I know of. But KNOW I desire someone who is INTERSTED and able to hear and look with me... The struggle is real....
