I think so too. It's fishy that they were in such a hurry to get it fixed and they were able to get it fixed so quickly. It's not like the car was undriveable and they were losing money on rentals. Makes no sense

@@amg863 if the car is in fact fixed, they fixed the car in the way that any normal reasonable person would and then want to charge him for actually replacing everything. Charging for wheels, bumper and everything when they just sprayed the bumper, repaired the wheels and filled the chips in the windshield. It was a smart move to ask for the parts so he can catch them in the lie.

@@jakek6728 they'll probably say they left the parts at the body shop and the body shop will say they binned the old parts because they were so trashed beyond repair. I'd love to see invoices from McLaren to see if they did in fact get anything at all from them but even then maybe those parts were used to fix another front end damaged car and they just thought they would sucker one of their customers to pay for that other car. It's all just speculation but I don't believe their story for one minute. Even Rob finds it unbelievable and he's in the same business.

You can print anything you want on a piece of paper and have somebody sign it, that doesn’t mean it’s gonna hold up in court. It’s not like you’re gonna go to court and the judge will say “well...you signed it.” Lmaoooo

I'm not angry. The car was trashed by stone chips and it's a McLaren, so expect a massive repair bill. Honestly, I would be ashamed to bring a rental car back like that unless it was an accident.

@@jamesr5741 I also suspect that the two wheels might have added to their suspicion of how things might have happened, apart from that huge amount of stone chips from the front direction that to my understanding of things likely come from being very close behind other cars at speed for sustained periods of time..

They will probably get lost in the mail or they had to send them back for deposit or any thing else they can come up with to delay but they will still want the money with or without the parts I’d ask for shipping paperwork to make sure they new

​@@musti7516 if you think about this is actually pretty questionable, like even if rob is going to OK this bill, it's going to be his insurance company, not him personally, to pay, and ythe insurance company would like to see everything to support this claim, to assess if the parts need to be replaced, not repaired, you'd imagine they have a whole process to determine this kind of stuff, so a dealer can't charge you 30K to swap an engine because you are late for an oil change. There is like 99% this will end up in court, it's just a matter or rob, or rob' s insurance company, suing the rental car company.

When you got the money he could quite literally make money on the car. He would replace the windshield and most likely buff the scuff marks, possibly respray and put it up as a rental until it was time to sell it before it fell off.

Depends on car/make, for Ferrari and lambo it's easy to get any part fast but for McLaren it may even be impossible to get any in average human lifetime.

@@wykydytron not always. Rob had to wait forever for the door panel on the Ferrari when the airbags deployed. And that’s not the only time he’s talked about waiting on parts. Though there’s probably a lot more part outs on Ferrari and Lamborghini making it easier.

Mclaren is notorious for the time they take to ship parts, there is no way that company got those parts that fast and did all the work. When was this trip not even a month ago.

@@musti7516 Yes, that surprised me, too! Over here in Europe the situation may not be so bad. I guess parts for in production McLarens may arrive within two to eight weeks. But I think it will take considerably longer for these to get to the USA. And I don't think McLaren have these spare parts just lying around at different American dealers' workshops on the odd chance that a customer might just need a new front clam or something similar.

@@aeromotive2 people get ahold of some pretty sick cars just going on credit and knowing what to buy and when to get rid of it. A lot of vehicles If you don’t beat on them and sell them with a couple thousand miles a year or two down the line then switch to another you’ll either break even or lose no more in depreciation than if you were to lease a regular car. If you somehow find a way to make money using the vehicle in photo shoots and music videos or using things like Turo on top of that? You can get to experience your dream car without going into the areas of the intimidating 150k+ pricetags on these vehicles.

When a car is as new as that one is and has been damaged to that extent then the car owner would have the right to do this - in layman's patch repaired car would have significantly differing monetary value car that has been repaired (hence them wanting replacement). The price has mainly just been inflated due to the carbon fiber. I would also imagine if this went to court that Rob's insurance would only pay a certain percentage of the repair bill as his side would be able to reasonably argue the car was not properly protected (with PPF for example) for the purpose it was being used. An example of this would be Rob needing to pay all the labor and the other party needing to pay for the carbon if they accept they did not do enough to protect it from inevitable damage. But who knows the US court system can be weird haha

They should have informed Rob what was going on, and then Rob I am sure would have hopped on a plane and seen himself what was going on, instead they just did some shady Vegas sh!t.

If somebody runs into your car or otherwise damages it (or any other asset you own), you can charge them for the repair (in the case of a rim that would always be a replacement because repairing rims is illegal in Germany and will cause a car to no longer be considered roadworthy by the authorities, which may lead to the car being impounded by the police in a worst case scenario) but you do not need to actually repair it. You are free to do whatever you want with that money. If you don't mind having a fat dent in your car, you can go on a nice holiday or something instead. That does not matter. And rental car companies do not repair cars. They sell them if they can no longer be used for any reason. Therefore, he will never get that wheel and there is absolutely nothing he can do about it. Any second he spends thinking about that is a waste of time.
