I still love this show. The problem is the episodes are too short. I don't mind new storylines but its hard to jam all of that in 24 minutes.
@HeroFall
@HeroFall 2 года назад
The issue isn't just that they jammed it all into 24 minutes, the issue is that they jammed 2-3 stories into 24 minutes. Use season 1 for example doing what season 4 does. Both of them have no giant plot. In season 1 every episode was its own story and it was fulfilled within those 24 minutes not counting the first 2 episodes being introductions and the last 2 episodes being the endgame. Each episode had a focus and subtle hints into a big picture but didn't take away from the main plot. Near the end of every episode, you were given a piece of whats going on but it didn't jump in the middle of your episode and jam itself in there. Hence why some of the best written stories were the prison episode, the snowheart episode and the kids/adults empty episode. Meanwhile we have episodes in season 4 where we will be dealing with beast boys depression, megan dealing with the death of connor during a spaceship ride and vandal savages memoir speech all happen while a wizard war is in action. A competint writer would be able to seperate the episodes and get their stories into 1 or 2 episodes. The first arc makes sense being the marriage. Thats the main catalyst. All they need to show us is connor in the background at the end of every episode to show the plot still moving or beast boys deression at the beginning rather than to bum rush it in the middle of the story. Its inconsistent. Its like they're treating you like a child saying "don't forget, megan is still riding in that spaceship home to deal with her problems haha. Oh no, beast boy is dealing with depression" and while they are trying to write it so that every one of these moments is happening at the same time, its done so in a poorly written way. It could have been wedding arc < artemis arc < how megan and beast boy handle their losses seperately < magic arc < halos identity episode (even though we all could've lived easier knowing the motherbox inside of halo needs her hijab to respect the girls body but also needs to be non-binary because the girls body isn't her own body) > atlantis arc < connor in the phantom zone < and the current new genesis son of zod rockets autism son arc. Its not that hard

Isn’t that the same length it’s always been?
@HeroFall
@HeroFall 2 года назад
@@larniieplayz6285 in the past, they could fit a whole story that nicely concluded in 1 episode like the wally west snow episode, the superboy/megan prison episode and the magical youth/adult seperation episode. The episodes had focus, they knew their audience and they knew how to pace. Now it takes 3-4 episodes plus a lot of jumping back and forth between 3 separate events in order to tell a story. Its like eating a good sandwhich and someone jamming a sandwhich, chocolate pudding, a salad and mac and cheese into your mouth in order to get it out of the way then at the end of eating it all, teasing you with a steak saying "we got more when this seaons meals are over". Its all one big filler season in comparison to the last 3 where it was teen titans being the teens leaving the sidekick theme in order to grow as heroes and fight the battles the bigger heroes can't always deal with. So they lose focus on the objectives and themes of the show because they want to appease both the older fans and fans who want to see new youthful characters causing us to have episodes feeling dreadful to watch like the new genesis arc and the magic arc.

Something I've been saying for awhile is this show needs to be spin offed into other shows, have Young Justice be focused on the original cast and the characters in their age group like Rocket and etc., make an Outsiders series focused on them and have a Justice League series focused on them and etc and they could even do crossover episodes and specials/movies that wrap everything together.
@Joe-dl9vn
@Joe-dl9vn 2 года назад
You see this is a great idea, but, the issue is this would require mass amounts of money that Warner Bros/DC aren't interested in pumping into Young Justice. As much as we love this show, it doesn't perform how investors would want sinking such massive amounts of money into the property, as long as Young Justice can continue to exist and keep a good quality I'll take this 1 show over no show.

It’s a super team of “sidekicks” who are are the youngest heroes. When years pass they out grow and hand the team over the new younger heroes. The show isn’t called the justice league where we have a consistent characters for the whole story. It’s about the growth of the new characters while getting helped by the former heroes. Now I’d love a series with the justice league, but their isn’t one so I’ll watch young justice with a revolving door of characters.

They need to survive off of Borrowed-Glory of even showing Nightwing's ankle for 20 seconds on screen, before the next 20 minutes go back to the other cast and fans *will* love this.

Not quite. What I signed up for when this show first came out was a young superhero team-building show. "Awesome," I thought, "a new version of Teen Titans." This season has literally been everything OTHER than a team-building show, and instead focused on individual characters to give them development, only to never mention them again for the rest of the season, and there was hardly a "team" at all. Plus, I realized how shitty their writers were when they outrage baited us with the death of two legacy characters in the episode right before the finale.

It's interesting to hear you talk about the characters arcs post-mars in a way where you feel theyre disconnected. The artemis arc was a combination of her dealing with the grief from conner and segwaying that into an arc about her needing her sister to be the mother her daughter needs. She literally told her mother that she needed to "get back out there" to deal with her second round of griefing. The zatanna arc felt like it was just there to further expand the lore and prep the viewers for the lords of order stuff in aqualads arc. The aqualad stuff was also incredibly linked to conners death as it was used as his excuse for not dealing with his grief. The zatanna arc is the only one that feels outta place in reference to mars/conner. Like yeah, artemis' arc was pretty weak, but that doesnt mean there was no connection to the mars arc. As someone who quite recently finished binging the entire series, i think everything flowed decently well considering timeskips and new characters. The only season that feels weird is season 4 because they wanted to refocus on the main cast from season 1 which you can tell they did not really plan to be this focused with the pre-existing writing. It feels like the situation of dragon ball with goku and gohan, but to a less degree

Season 3 and 4 seem disconnected because they changed the course of the series and the team that works on it, it's obvious that with the original plan, the season 3 would be different. Honestly, I feel like the season is at its best with the small character moments. Garfield’s therapy, Superman explaining why Connor is gone, Rocket’s moments with her family, et cetera. At the very least, you can tell that they are more comfortable with what is an obviously lower budget for animation, considering the less heavy reliance on action, which I think is a good thing. What always drew me to the show was the characters, so the more focus on them the better, I say.

The only build up is the phantom zone, the martian/son of zod team up and the darkseid arc. The phantom zone being full of kryptonians (which for some reason made Zod black but race changing is fine). The darkseid situation feels off because it became such a huge plot point for a couple of seasons then just left. Unlike in the dcau movies whete they kept showing hints of darkseids army every so often or any form of buildup. Every story, every event mattered. The odd team-up feels so out of left field and with how the writing works, I can't tell what will be a story for the current arc or just a looming story for later. Which is way worse. That's horrible writing. Either make a focus on one event or loom it with multiple events and its not fun. What am i supposed to be hyped for when we have 10 different stories happening in 18 episodes. Even amateur writers know that its best to not rush so much into one bottle. DC/WB would be smarter to use these stories overtime. Make the big arc darkseid, yes. But make you can still use 1 event for 1 story. The first season works because we know the cast, we are slowly introduced to rocket, zatanna and artemis. Nothing just pops up. Overtime you get hints of the main plot and bam you get the main story. Season 2 works because of them using the same formula as last season while the downsides a lot of people had were the things they decided not to do, rush the story, rush the romance, throw in so much that we lose focus, and season 3 decided to go down a worse route until we get to season 4 which feels like a giant filler season.

I don't think every one want's action, mostly what I've seeing is that people want consistency and that's what's killing this show. Season 1 was very consistent with its plot about forming the team, getting to know the team, and seeing what makes them thick under pressure and how they can prevail. The more the season goes on, the more it becomes... A mess, its not that what they're doing isn't good; scenes with beat boy depression or how Rocket is handling her child who has autism are really good that shows what has happen to there life compare to earlier seasons. But the way they are handling is again, a mess. There bouncing about in each episode and not sticking with a single focus for that one episode. All the power to you for enjoying it, but I don't think people crave for the action. People like me crave for the season 1 Young justice in terms of writing.

I agree that seasons 3 and 4 are less contained than the first two seasons, however that doesn't make it a bad thing because that is kind of the point (multiple arcs are going to have multiple layers each and even more so if you're trying to connect them all under one great arc that may not be visible until the end). But I do think that this show may have spread itself too thin with all the content/story/lore they're trying to use/create. Plus, I want more Nightwing (but am always excited when he shows up for a few seconds with or without saying anything). However, I cannot say I have hated any of the main character's arcs thus far because of a few reasons. Each episode provides information about something in the background and something about the main character during their arc. Each episode leaves me on the edge of my seat wondering where things are going and what will happen next. Each episode inspires something in me. And each episode is well written/voiced, animated, and entertaining. I'm certain I'm going to receive hate for what is written next. I actually like the arcs are focusing on the characters while giving us small snippets into other characters. As someone who likes main AND side characters, I find it enjoyable that we're able to see any side characters show up in a main character's arc. Do I want to see more of the side characters (such as Beast Boy, and the Legionaries)? Absolutely, but not at the detriment to the main character's arc (and not to the point where an episode [arc related or not] is mainly about the side characters. I feel this way because I've seen a few times where shows try to give fans what they thought they wanted only for everyone to find out it was the wrong call. And I fear that if they try and give the side characters more uninterrupted screen-time, their story will fall. Coming from an author's point of view, writing a story about something very real can be exceptionally hard (with or without experience) especially when you are either trying to make it longer or shorter to fit a specific length. So, while I understand being upset and wanting more development on matters that were brought up early-ish in Phantoms, I think that people shouldn't give up on this show until the season finale. But that's just my opinion.

My counter argument to what you’re saying about not knowing what story they’re trying to tell overall is that there is no overall story. Each and every character is getting their own stories so you need to look at it like that. Within each and everyone of the characters arcs, they have their own overarching things plots, and casts. Because young justice has always been known for having so many characters, they are taking advantage of that and using it as a method of being able to tell multiple stories within a space of a season. This show has a lot of diversity and it’s cast, characters from pretty much all walks of life, and you really get to see that through the stories told. The reason you shouldn’t really compare it to the first two seasons is because the first two seasons with establishing the main team, and having them go on adventures together while also developing them into adults. When you get around to seasons three and four and you see them as adults but they’re not the main focus anymore because we have tons of new characters that deserve to be explored. But even so that. Writers and creators of the show were still adamant about letting us see our OGs. So we get to see our OGs in action doing their own adventures while being affected by the things going on around them. I say that the reason you are getting confused and just can’t keep up anymore is because you’re focusing on the bigger picture of the entire season when you should be focusing on each individual picture as each and every part of the season is broken up in order to give all the characters they want to give, deserved spotlight and development. One thing that I really love about this show is that we’re continuing to be able to see characters that never really got much attention in the prior seasons, such as rocket as you mentioned in the video. I also say that these characters aren’t going to act like they did in seasons one and two they’re grown men and women now some even having families. Things can’t stay the same forever we all know that. And I appreciate that they show tackles that by showing us how they’ve matured, developed and then on top of that continuing to put them through trials and tribulations to further their development. I think it’s a very well written show and I think that overall they just want to tell good stories with their characters and they will end it on a good note when they feel they have told all the stories they wanted to tell. If you want some thing for an over arcing issue, you could pretty much just throw the light and their shenanigans. Even though we’re not seeing much of it, we know it’s there and we know that they’re going to find a way to tie the light into each and every character in someway in the background, for the finale or maybe even 4 1/5 season if it goes that far. But that’s just my personal opinion. I’m a big young justice fan and even though the change from half point to now was jarring at first upon some deeper reflection and re-watching a few episodes I put it together myself and was pretty much good to go. Love the video keep up the good work🖤🖤

They need to tell these characters' stories in different episodes, not cram them all into one episode and switch between them every 5 minutes. You end up only getting crumbs of each story, having to wait until next week just to get more crumbs. It's disorienting and exhausting. The original Justice League cartoons handled character arcs much better than this.

It was a show about family and about the group learning to function in the absence of one of their members i.e. crosshair. While also learning to really be parental figures, as they were pretty much raising Omega. But in that main broad theme allows for a lot of different adventures to take place they have their own little themes. however even with that another overall plot point that was pretty much very heavily focused on was the fact that crosshair was now working for the other side and that he was pretty much 100% after them, at first with the aim to kill but then eventually with the aim to get them to join his side because he came back to his senses, and between the two shows I felt that bad batch was way easier to follow but that’s just me.

I respectfully disagree, I like the multi layered storytelling and admit the first two seasons were near perfection, but I'm glad that the later seasons are continuing to build off what the first seasons created. It doesn't talk down to you and has the characters tackle more "normal" and adult situations such as depression, heart break, parenthood, and the day to day. The show is feeling a bit sidetracked this season however, I'll hold off the final judgement until the end since I'm liking some of the build ups (Savage being cornered and Zod).

Time can pass but time shouldn't fast forward. Look at teen titans as an easy example. Time passed and the characters grew. You can show growth and introduce new characters overtime like most live actions do like game of thrones and the walking dead. Not everything needs a timeskip where we can play "guess what happened in between to get us to this point". We could get 1 or 2 episodes of introducing characters, it would be easy money for WB/DC. You want a show that lasts a long time and gets people invested and can have people return and go with the show like One Piece or Naruto. Instead we get a season where new characters are thrown in and the original cast are young adults by season 2/3. Wouldn't it be cooler to show when superboy was being distant, when megan got comforted by lagoon boy, when beast boy learned to be a hero overtime and lost his mother, when he worked with doom patrol and so much more. Instead we are just told all of this and unless you've read the dc history of comics from over 4 decades of most of these characters, you will be turning off your brain and going with it. We already get story arcs for single characters, either pull the full trigger so we know what we got into or don't use the gun at all. Every season could have even been a new cast but they tried to play it safe with season 2 and now we have people upset that our main cast isn't there. The issue isn't that we stopped using the main 6, its that you made the show to focus on them then decided to focus on Halo in season 3 making her plot points that she needs to wear her Hijab to respect the girl who had the body but she also must be non-binary even though that's physically the body of the girl. They figured out a way to make that a plot point. There's just so much wrong with the show that it would take a 1 hour youtube video to dissect every issue of each season and where it could've gone better

I miss when there was a core cast of characters instead of the 30+ heroes there are now that i'm not even attached to. And I also am not a fan of how political the show is now. It just feels like they are selling out to appease/attract a crowd that most likely doesn't give a shit about the show. The episode Nautical Twilight is a great example of this. Like they focused way too much time on Halo talking about being a nonbinary muslim instead of creating you know, actual relevant plot for the story? One of Young Justice Phantoms' biggest problems is how it uses massive exposition dumps to tell its story. It tries to do it subtlety (sometimes) by using it in conversations but executes it awfully. For example, during the Aqualad Arc they bring up the "one true king prophecy" and Aquaman/Arthur begins to go on a long-winded wiki explanation of what it is. And while exposition is for the audience to understand important tidbits that would otherwise be unknown, its delivery is unnaturally unnecessary because Aquaman is dumping this lengthy explanation to other Atlanteans who already know what the hell the prophecy is.

A lot changed in society between seasons 2 & 3. Sadly, the writers lost focus and decided to bring sex and gender identity ideologies into the show as well as other far left nonsense, instead of being moderate and sensible like the previous seasons and Justice League/JLU who did an excellent job with episodes like Hawk & Dove who are dressed in red & blue. Seems different watching it so many years later. The show doesn't benefit depicting Lagoon Boy with a wife, husband and a child in a polyamorous relationship. Violet is apparently a non-binary Muslim (forbidden in Islam) and Kaldur is now gay after being ins relationship with Aquagirl. Doesn't seem believable but it has also shifted the narrative away from interesting plots and character development. Nobody cares about Wonder Woman's boyfriend, Green Arrow's love life, the Hawk's (Shayera & Katar) marriage. We just want good storytelling and action!

The weird thing is, having a HUGE cast isn't even a bad thing - as proven by the 2000s Justice League Unlimited series. However they KNEW you weren't familiar with most of the characters and did the legwork to quickly introduce you to who they are, what they do, etc, while also often anchoring episodes with at least one known character. They don't do that with Young Justice, and the writing feels... robotic as hell. Unfortunately, the art style makes them look copy pasted and not very unique to each other, their personalities are unknown, a lot of their background isn't explained clearly enough. After the second time skip watching this series became a chore.

I agree that the first two season were fabulous. They were why I wanted the show back in the first place. Granted the time skip in Season 2 annoyed me, but otherwise no real complaints. In seasons 3 and 4 however, it really does feel like its all over the board. Season 3 was a little more comprehensible. You could see where things were going and the plot was decent. The execution could've been so much better and the time skip was unnecessary, but they weren't the worst parts of the show. Season 4 I just really don't like. Sure we have a nice focus on the characters, but that's the problem. The story is no longer driven by the plot with characters there to move the plot along, instead the story is driven by character development with the plot essentially being a footnote. A plot is one subject, such as the Light being the main threat or Savage's big plan. Heck the aliens were a single plot. Now however we have a plot for every character and it dilutes the story, so much so that there is really no plot left. Now you could try to argue that the main plot is the death of Superboy, but if that's the case then why did we have the Atlantis arc? If you argue that Savage's plot is the main plot, okay but why don't we see more of the inner machinations? I love the characters, really I do. However when you base the season on character development rather than a central plot, you aren't creating a quality show. Characters are there to tell a story, not reflect their inner struggles. Their inner struggles can be used to further the plot, but the show is "Young Justice" not "Aqualad's Life", "Beast Boy's Depression", or "The Death of Superboy". The show is focused on a team working together, not individuals of a team and what they do outside of the team.

They’re approaching Zod and the Kandorians realistically. It always bothered me how Superman 2 and (as much as I love Man of Steel) Man of Steel approached them as if they’re a threat Superman could take on by himself. Mixing the comics and Smallville show approach. Exactly how I’d make it in my DC films if I had the opportunity to make them. Make Superman’s early villains, Parasite, Toyman, Lex, Bizarro, and Brainiac. Then Zod and his Kandorians and Phantom Zone criminals are more for the 3rd Superman films as, I’m sorry my big issues with Man of Steel, the Krytonians would have had years to plan their revenge. Also, if you were a super being, and you knew simply going to another planet would give you invulnerability, you would have previously visited that planet hundreds of times, or at least trained under those conditions? They’re military types, they’d instantly go to a yellow sun and instantly recon gather and instantly go after the heroes once learning their weaknesses. ALWAYS was the flaw of early DC, Zod and his Kandorians are not a single Superman threat, they’re a Justice League level threat. They’re a bunch of trained, evil, idealistic versions of Superman. Superman wouldn’t be able to just defeat Zod quickly, it would be a struggle, yes Superman has the advantage of being there multiple years before the other Kryptonians, but Zod would have the advantage of hiding in space and absorbing yellow sun radiation. I didn’t like how Foara just absorbed the Eye’s power like that. That shit was just thrown in, a million other ways Zod could have escaped and it would have made more sense than the story presented, my only aspect I dislike.

I feel like the first season of Young Justice was the best season. Season 2 was here and there. Season 3 was OK to say the least. Season 4 is a mess! I don't know which story arc to follow! The reason I watch is for Nightwing/Dick Grayson and I like BB's story. I'm gonna finish the season for his arc. But this show has really lost its touch. This show has been going downhill for some time now. I find myself wondering if it is the same show I used to watch in seasons 1 and 2. Without mentioning specifics, certain things should be left for shows like Euphoria to address. If I wanted to watch struggles with identity, trauma, drugs, self-harm, family, friendships, love, and sex, Young Justice is not where I would go. If this was the expected trend it should have started from the beginning so that some of us switch to something else. Otherwise, someone of us are still watching the show fueled by the nostalgia of the amazing early seasons.

I wouldn’t mind if the show addressed at least one of those themes that you mentioned. I would’ve loved to see these characters struggle with their own grief and mental health after every traumatic experience they’ve went through. It would’ve been more emotionally strong than a 30-second scene of one supporting character from Season 3 coming out as non-binary.

Yup. The first two seasons were strong. The action was solid. Now it seems as if the show is more concerned with talking about the characters' feelings. I couldn't care less about all of that. I wanted an action-packed superhero show. If i wanted drama I'd watch some show that does it better. How are the others taking Conner's death? We need time to reflect on their feelings. But wait, of course the writers could never kill off Conner! So, he's alive in the Phantom Zone! Oh noes, Beast Boy has trauma. Only Conner isn't dead so why bother? It's just a matter of time before they bring Wally back. Kal'dur has NO chemistry with Wynne. They just made him gay to fill out a quota. Why waste time like that? So far, the Light really hasn't done anything interesting. It's clear the writers lost their way. It wouldn't be the first show that failed, because the writers forgot about what made the shows good, after coming back from a long hiatus.

I think a lot of the plot is always kind of ambiguous in every season of the show, you don’t really know what’s coming at the end until it gets there, but once you do it all kinda makes sense. I personally enjoy the time skips because it shows how the characters change with time. I also like what they’re doing in this season with several separate arcs that are sort of all coming together in the end now, because realistically the core team isn’t always going to be altogether like they were when they were kids. I also like that it focusses on their personal lives more, as this was always sort of lacking in the first 2 seasons. I wasn’t the biggest fan of season 3 when I first watched it because it was indeed different in tone from the first two but now I really enjoy rewatching it and I love how they explore all these new characters

The overarching story currently developing from what I can ascertain is the game of chess Vandal Savage and Darkseid have been playing. We see the effects of their influence in every arc, every time something happens this season its either because of them or in response to them. This season is showing us how our favorite characters are dealing with this as their lives hang in the balance with some looming threat they aren't fully aware of. Albeit it's a much slower burn than the light in prior seasons its definitely still there. And in a way I'm glad a huge threat like Darkseid is being pushed to the back burner for a bit. It gives us the chance to A. Develop our favorite characters in their own stories while B. Still setting up the impending threat and showcasing the vast amount of power and influence both sides have. Neither Savage or Darkstar are to be taken lightly and as we inch closer to their duel we see how our heroes are being manipulated into this little game.

Show lost its point and went woke. The entire premise of the show was "watch these young heroes do super adventures", so when they grow up you kind of gave up on your hook. Sure you can add in new characters, but will they be characters people want to see? A junior Wonder Woman girl is cool, Cyborg is cool, they have legacy people love, but nobody's going to get excited about D-list characters like Forager or Halo. Beyond young super heroes going on adventures, what is the point? A show is only as good as the villain, and these villains don't do anything. What are the villains planning? Even the writers don't know, the writers just have the villains make secret plans in their evil lair and that's it. And when some villains get caught in season 2, it doesn't matter as the remaining just add more members or team up with Darkseid to make more secret plans that never go anywhere. It's all build up, but no climax. There's also no point. A good villain should have qualities that highlight the differences in the hero's views or actions. I was surprised by Peacemaker tv series, and as dumb of a character as he is you can agree with him that you should love peace & try to pursue it, but he goes against an enemy that mind controls people to enforce peace & create utopia, but they take away a person's free will. They both have the same motive, to ensure peace, and Peacemaker has to decide to destroy this enemy or save them. That's the kind of point to having a villain in your story, asking "why" or "what changed"? Instead Young Justice only had essentially shallow "villain of the week" type villains with no further thought to beyond "what could Savage & Darkseid be planning???" Legacy heroes, the mentors & big guns, rarely were worth the wait. It should be a special treat in the episode when you get to see Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman come on screen and kick some ass. They should be a head and shoulders above the junior heroes...but they never are. The second season blue balled the audience by just having most of the legacy characters stand around at a trial, the last thing anybody wants to see. Later, in both power level & authority, the junior heroes become equals to the big heroes. Aqualad becomes one of the leaders of the Justice League instead of Superman or Batman, and it lowers the authority level of the others more than it raises Aqualad's authority. And when you see the junior warriors just as strong as the senior ones, that's just stupid. Nightwing should never beat Batman, Aqualad should never beat Aquaman, but yeah we've got scenes where it feels like they're on the same level. Lastly the show went woke. Lex Luthor became Trump. Straight characters turn gay for no reason or end up in a polygamous relationship. Season's 4 first arc is essentially "Race war"! Every time something gets woke its usually a bad sign, as a political agenda seems to take front seat instead of quality.

In my honest opinion... the show is amazingly good. The writers and actors don't have the restrictions that a TV channel has. Yes they still have to follow the network, but we are seeing exactly what the writers and artists, and producers all want us to see. Each episode feels like it's own comic. That's how I'm seeing it. And I enjoy that they are acknowledging the fact we haven't actually been caught up to speed with the original characters. And SB "dying" is a very good plot point. It reopens wounds with Wally, and allows for more experience and chara ter build. Yeah maybe the arcs had some oddities about how they tie into eachother. But it's just telling us "hey we start with Miss Martian and Super Boy on Mars getting married. This is what happens. Now, this... this right now these next stories are what happened in those 5 months they were on Mars. And leading up to how they find out Suoer Boy is dead." It makes good sense. And yeah they background story is a bit off putting but Vandal is ALWAYS plotting. And Darkseid is ALWAYS there too. Like the New God's and heroic city, we now get to see more of that side rather than apokolyps, so they're world building what we have seen but know anything for this universe.

Season 3 and 4 seem disconnected because they changed the course of the series and the team that works on it, it's obvious that with the original plan, the season 3 would be different. I think they're trying to imitate Justice League Unlimited, CN did a great job with both series(Justice League and Young Justice) and the quality difference in writing before and now is obvious. The first 2 seasons focused on developing the new characters, while the old ones, along with the Justice League, served as mentors. Each arc was a preparation for something bigger at the end and this allowed them to develop and work with multiple characters at once, because they had a main plot, even if though 1 character was the center of one of the arcs, and the team was always together. In these two new ones, they are wanting to develop the old and the new at the same time, while separating them and their arcs, and that ends up extending up the plot too much.

We barely see them at all and while I like the other villains, we should be dealing with the Light one by one. They should be the ones the heroes take down per arc. One of the problems comics in general have is they don’t have a proper satisfying ending to their story. Their needs to be a beginning middle and end. A clear vision and goal for their story, otherwise it will get stale and loose what makes it intresting and special. I’d rather have a fantastic build up plot line spanning seasons that eventually conclude and come to a satisfying ending that I’m happy with. Than possibly grow to dislike the show because it becomes directionless and stale or it gets canceled at a cliffhanger season ender and we never get a conclusion period just an unsatisfying cliffhanger that halts all plot lines. Season one is widely considered to be the best season because it had the best ending. It was a pretty self-contained story with, like, one dangling plot thread which made for a more satisfying ending. Meanwhile season three’s finale felt less like a finale and more like a set up for the next season. The show became more setups than pay-offs so they can keep u watching for longer. And that’s a problem. You can’t have a plot heavy show like this with no foreseeable end bc it robs the show of any possible satisfying conclusion. It doesn’t matter how brilliant the writing is or how awesome the things they’re setting up are, if the payoff doesn’t feel like a pay off. And this decision just isn’t sustainable. Eventually people are going to get tired of being strung alone and quit. Plot-heavy shows and episodic writing do not mix.
