@mellvee
@mellvee Год назад
Gilding the lily is the perfect way to put it. That's exactly what it would have been. An embarrassment of riches for the prosecution, and there was no reason to take up more of the jury's time by re-icing that particular cake.
@StopBuggingMeGoogleIHateYou
Seemed that way to me. All of Darrell Brooks' witnesses made him look bad, didn't say anything that damaged the prosecution's case, and only said things that were bad for Brooks' case (if he could even be said to have a case). Like that Nicholas Kirby fellow. He spoke at length about how he tried to keep Erika Patterson away from him, and how much he wanted to beat Brooks up, while putting himself at the scene 20 minutes in advance of the crime. All of that's bad for Brooks and just sprinkles some extra icing on top of the state's case. Why do they need to follow up on that?
@Sulucnumoh420
@Sulucnumoh420 Год назад
For those that haven't picked up on it, his "legal strategy" is not to defend the case but to antagonize the judge, the prosecution, and, to a lesser extent, the jury, to get them so angry that the court makes a mistake and violates his rights in some way, or nullify the jury and gets a mistrial.

I think it’s easy to understand the concept of a mistrial or approved appeal. However, the length this man has went is absurd. You can not openly interrupt the judge and other attorneys. On top of that, 90% of the words this man spoke of are completely irrelevant to the trial process. I just find it hard to believe it’s simply out of fear of a mistrial. However, I am no lawyer so take this with a grain of salt! Just dumbfounded nothing was done until he literally threw a temper tantrum and she called for a break.

I've seem too much of this too and there's only so many times you can explain it to people. The founding documents that give you all the rights you enjoy in a constitutional republic include the right to self representation in a court of law, and just because you get an extreme person now and then doesn't mean that you should change them. Judge Dorow has had to balance the rights of the defendant with the rights to self representation, which make Brooks much more visible, but in doing so It has actually been a gift to the Prosecution. The more you see of him, the more you see his true colours. As I write, the jury found him guilty and didn't deliberate for long at all. I hope that once they have put some distance between themselves and the trial that they will watch what happened during all of the times they were herded out of the courtroom, and see the full extent of his abusive behaviour.

He can see right thru it, still gets the book thrown at him. Why they need to ask questions when his witness make their cases for them.

Saying they wanted to rush the trial, no rush needed cause they had great evidence. All he wanted was to delay.

@@lisettegarvin5030 , he was either claiming he wasn't getting a speedy trial or claiming the were rushing judgment. His record, the video evidence showing him driving through, add in the vehicle having no defects, this an air tight case. His appeal will get shot down. Just hope he gets jailhouse justice next.
