SVB you are a capable player and you have proved it within a few days after our session. It was a pleasure to watch your progress in just an hour an a half together.
There was a story I remember hearing about Tiger Woods. How after he won one of the major PGA tours, it may have even been the Masters, but I can't find the article anymore, he immediately went to the course's driving range, and someone asked him, "Tiger, what are you doing here, you just won the tournament." He responded by saying, "Yeah, but I could have done better on a few shots here and there." One of the biggest legends in pro sports as a whole immediately went back to practicing after winning a major tournament. You guys kinda seem to embody that and its great to see people like you, SVB, and ioStux all still being so invested in this game that's really rather niche in the grand scheme.
We need more Awkward coaching contents. His playstyle in support is hyperactive and coaching lessons usually stay on point adding basic knowledge about the game and the heroes he's using
I find these just as (if not more - I know it’s a hot take) helpful than the unranked to GM series. Because he’s not actively playing he can explain his thought process more , rather than engraining “dmg dmg dmg” and “they move forward, i move back” 😂
I haven’t watched the video yet, but knowing Awkward, I’m guessing the video is going to go something like this… “Damage, damage, damage! Don’t heal! Do more damage!” And his advice works. I went from Gold to Diamond hearing that :)
He's misrepresented for saying not to heal. He says to heal enough to keep your teammates alive, but don't worry about topping them off if you could be keeping pressure off the team through damage
The way he coaching, the instructions he gave really cleared my eyes, help me knowing how to get the most out of ana's kit. But it also made me realize how difficult it is to do that. It would take a huge amount of skill, mechanic, game sense, surrounding awareness and constant thinking to be able to do that while maintaining the high accuracy of sleep and nade.
Awkward doesn't get enough credit in the Overwatch community, partially because some people are put off by his self-confidence. That guy is in a tier by himself though. Great vid
Alright this is amazing. I'm coming back to it when I actually have the mental bandwidth to understand what's going on properly, but immediately never even though of swapping the open angles and using that sleep whenever the heck I think I can get something with it.
Svb, I showed my friend this, and he picked it up as fast as you did. I went 5-0 yesterday for the first time ever and got closer to my ow1 rank very quickly. By incorporating this and a couple of other concepts. Thank you.
Thank you so much for posting this, SVB. As a regular viewer of your, channel, and Awkward's, this was quite an eye-opener. Learnt a lot, and I think it merits a second viewing as there was so much to digest. Watching you learn, and Awkward's coaching,, in real-time is absolute gold, well worth a hundred traditional educational videos. Thanks again.
I appreciate so much this coaching sessions SVB have been posting on yt. Awkward is amazing, I have been improving a lot on Zarya thanks to his unranked to gm video. The Fitzy Sombra coaching session was also amazing (think about res, think about res). Thanks so much for this, SVB.
D5 here, Like 20 min in and I have actually learned a lot about things I have been trying to understand about my play. Thanks for uploading this. and thanks @awkward2 for agreeing to let SVB upload this.
This is such a valuable coaching session and it fits practically all supports well. Find rotations, find the damage, don't get greedy with your kills to stay alive.
Honestly @awkward and @SVB-Side I improved more from watching that coaching session that most other pieces of educational content. that was amazing coaching and svb you pick up everythign so fast. keep up the amazing content both of you. (coming from a mid diamond andy who thought about climbing to masters this season)
I had too much fun playing like this, but I felt a little guilty 😂 but my gameplay improved a lot. I just need to practice more. Thank you both for this live, it's gold ❤
@@Taylor95x I managed to climb the ranked a bit, but not long after that I stopped playing Overwatch. I played a few matches that way, but I was never completely aggressive playing Ana like Akward. As I said, I felt a bit guilty playing this way, so I brought balance to my gameplay, I stopped being so passive playing as Ana and started doing more damage. I climbed a bit, but after a while, the rank stabilized again. Maybe by being more aggressive I could climb higher, but for that I'd have to keep playing. Anyway, you can try this method in competitive play and it will work. Try to incorporate it little by little and find in Akward's tips your own way of playing, which you feel more comfortable.
I miss content like this in the OW community. Years ago closer to the start of the game content like this was plentiful and I credit all of that to my climbing all the way from Bronze when I started to Masters. Nowadays it seems like there is not that much super high-level coaching content out on a regular basis and it feels like not only have I as a player begun to stagnate but the game is as well because of the lack of content for the hardcore ranked player who really wants to improve and get to the highest ranks in the game. Really hope to see more videos like this in the future. This really invigorated me to go play some ranked for improvement.
I love Awkward so, so much. A few years ago I had a coaching session with him for 1 hour. Back then I was a low plat scrub and after his coaching session I got to 3.8k in OW1. Right now I'm Masters 1, but I realise I have forgotten to do more damage as he taught me before and that's why I'm stuck. Back to damage, damage, damage for me and hopefully will get to play with SVB and Awkward at some point in the high ranks! Thank you SVB and Awkward for the productive session, hard work and dedication. Much love to you both :)
ok i haven’t finished the video yet but how is this svb guy gm2 on support… bro had less than seven percent sleep accuracy in the first ten minutes of the match and also missed the sleep on the stationary bob… like come on bro
Awesome video! You learned so well, adapted so well even with someone talking in your ear mid game, and the coaching was great, concise and kept it simple, hammering in the same important points.
It's crazy to see how much more impact you were steadily making after just one game. Awkward is great. I commented on you fitzy video and complimented him too. But you are a really really good learner. Super impressive
the text chat during the new york match was so damn toxic; glad to see GM’s still have all the time in the world to flame everyone (espeiclaly svb’s hanzo had A LOT of time to spam his opions and micromanagements :”) ). i’m glad svb was so busy with listening to awkward and thinking about his plays, and didnt let himself be too distracted by the text spam
@@craz3424even if it may seem like a small division gap, the skill difference can be massive, like the difference between top 50 and top 10 in Smash Bros Melee
awkward is a great coach! i’ve been doing so many more plays with ana since i first saw his video about her. it’s simple advice but very effective and mot too hard to implement into ones own game play :)
I've been playing lots of support and tank since OW1 came out, now I'm more focusing on learning DPS and this is actually great advice for that too. Learning to find the angles, when to rotate, how to maximize the impact of your cooldowns. A lot of the things go against the "instinct" of a support player, who wants to stay safe at all times. But putting yourself into danger aka I can shoot them and they can shoot me while staying safe is core for DPS and great to see here. Atleast that's my takeaway
this might be the single most impactful video i've watched. it's immediately given me so much to work on but more importantly improved my gameplay. Thanks for putting this together SVB!
Absolutely enjoyed this video! Both the coaching and the gameplay. The communication/understanding from both of you made this super enjoyable, learned a lot! Hope to see more of these.
Awkward has a funny way of not getting his point across in unranked to gm but here he does it so well. Much more helpful than "What am I doing? Healing? No. Im doing damage. When they go right I go left, they move up I move back." I get he's in the heat of battle and granted his editing is done well, but this kind of coaching is far more influential. Its like taking a masterclass, pun intended.
Damn, I am an Ana main myself and consider myself a pretty aggressive Ana-Player, so I can incorporate all those advices in my own playstyle. Love the aspect of " do damage " , "create off angle " and stuff like that which i like to do as well. You don't need to permanently look at your teammates to be ready when they take 10 damage if you can make a 100 damage meanwhile and peek mates in between ( random numbers taken ). Love it. Now I can probably self-confidentally hold my place in Diamond x)
Thanks for sharing this video. That's very considerate, and it's really going to help a lot of Ana players. I do think it's funny that people are surprised that a GM player learns quickly. A GM player is already a special player, analytical and intelligent, intuitive. My primary notes to self: Find an off angle to do early damage, using your sleep and nade and quick scope (typically). Back off, and rotate as necessary. But like Awkward says in his GM to 500 videos -> do damage, damage, damage!
Lol, I couldn't unhear "If you can play it slowly, you can play it quickly" in my head when they were talking about speed. LingLing still haunts my dreams apparently XD
Quickplay warrior here. I applied what I learned here to my games today, and I played my best Ana of the season! Love the ongoing SVB Education theme from recent videos; the mix of edited, narrative content and longform has been fantastic. More please!
@@cesarcaballero4662 Honestly? People are nicer in quickplay. Even though I’ve found strong morale wins games, lots of players in comp get tilted and ragey (that’s not to say it doesn’t happen in QP too, but I have far more positive experiences). I genuinely enjoy building up my teammates: complimenting their good play and supporting/peeling for them so they feel like unstoppable badasses, and that attitude/style of fun is more welcome in QP.
@@chaikovsky I would play alot more QP if you got to do offense and defense on cart. Obviously with king of the hill or push, it's the same. But I hate "losing" a QP even though we get it 99% of the way there. That could easily be a win in ranked. Not that it matters, since it's unranked lol
@chaikovsky for me quick play has been more toxic than Comp- but theres definetally some funny matches and wholsome ones in quick play that never happen in comp
This was a great learning experience.. I'm bronze low Silver and I'll implement this into my game and when I watch my VOD's. Thanks for this it was great.
I love everything about this video, thank you so much! I have been watching the unranked to GM Awkward out out and have been learning a lot. I get so annoyed with people complaining about my stats, I guess I need to listen to the advice about muting and blocking!
Man Thank you so much for the great content 🙏🙏 I was confused how to carry as support in some matches. Watching U showed so much progress and improvement in just 2 games, I see my goal so much better. Keep up the great work and thank you SVB ❤️🔥❤️🔥
The first ten min so far is very similar to learning Reinhardt. Understanding the balance of aggression vs shielding etc I’m really enjoying this so far. Always giving you something to do with this mindset
What I found really challenging in Overwatch, coming from an MMO background, is the fact that healers /supports, can do as much, if not more DPS than a DPS character. Like anna has typically 3 hots to kill someone or 2 + nade and lucio can easily 2 - 3 burst someone at any range, given there's no damage fall off, whislt healing people. I think a lot of people stuggle with the idea that you should do a mix AND position to be able to do so, almost putting yourself in harms way to effectivly do both. I found playing moira to be a good balance, as you can sit in saftey, whilst doing damage with your orbs etc. whereas anna and bap require you to be out there with the DPS, exposed to the potential of the enemy damage. But then bap and anna can easily kill people and anna can shoot throguh the tank, either doing damage or healing automatically, given her primary fire does either.
This is great content. Looking forward to watch the rest of this upload later tonight. Great stuff (as usual) SVB. Thanks for sharing and teaching this pleb. I really enojoyed Whiplash.
Absolutely amazing! This is the kind of content I crave. Now if I could just hide this from the rest of the Ana players so I can actually play DPS without 4 people shooting at me 😂. No seriously it is awesome to let us see you get coached even though you are already top 1% of ladder.
Awkward is the goat. Can't say enough how much I love and agree with all of his coaching or u2gm takes. The advice he gives is so simple and impactful, it's hard to describe how beneficial this was to my own game. Also great content SVB.
just wanted to say i found you through the group up podcast and have since smashed your content. HUGE fan of your work keep it up and hope you continue to get the recognition you deserve
There was one time on eichenwalde second point defense which I went down the stairs, got a clean 3 shots to kill the enemy ana, and went back upstairs. It was so satisfying, and turns out there is a playstyle that focuses entirely on this
This was so fun to watch, great vibes, and super insightful, i love Ana but (exatcly what you mentioned) i don't play her much cause i don't feel confident playing her and i don't wanna ruin other people's games, i'm hyped up to continue to play her, she's so much fun!
I learned so much playing this season with the release of Illari that you have a much greater impact on your team when you dps as often as you can whenever you can with support role instead of solely focusing on trying to keep your team up with heals. If you can kill on support role you don't need to heal as much, dead enemy players = no need to heal teammates. 5v5 change the gameplay style of supports by reducing the amount of healing that you needed way more in 6v6. DPS players swapping to support role will realize how much easier it is to engage and kill other players.
You must have been extremely nervous cus frankly this doesn’t look close to GM Ana gameplay, None the less this video is the best of its kind so thank you for it.
8:50 pls follow this advice against hitscans, speccially in diamond+ if you're jumping you'll most likely to get hs. Also, I'm super grateful you shared this, thank you SVB!
After watching awkwards baptised unranked to gm I finally made it to GM on DPS from D5. Mostly the push forward when they move back and move backwards when the enemy push helped a lot. Combining it with the fundamentals A10 preaches about corners and flipping them
It's fucking hilarious how he tells SVB not to save sleep, then next fight he Sleeps and whiffs it and then Bob comes out. Then as soon as he gets another Sleep, he whiffs it again and then immediately Sigma ults.
easily one of the best watches to learn what you should be doing on healer. I never played supp before this season, climbed from gold 4 to d1 by focusing on DAMAGE DAMAGE DAMAGE
watched all of it , will definently try to not forget , tough ig mostly just listened in , still helped alot , will try all this when i will replace my switch lite joystick
Love Awkward. I had the wrong mentality. I was WAY too worried about healing. I started focusing on DPSing WAY more and I am much higher rated now. GG Awkward.
Best SVB video ever. We need more of these coaching with Awkward. We prefer these types of videos that help the Overwatch community instead of complaining all the time.
One of the best OW videos I've seen so far. Makes even my casual gaming experience more fun. Also SVB I don't think you should care with that level of skill, but if it gets hard to take I suggest putting on some music to get into a good mood. I recently made myself an Overwatch playlist with Monster Magnet Powertrip and some Offspring amongst others or if it gets really toxic I crank up Taylor Swift and shake it off 😁. It's astounding how many songs hit the mark if you think of OW while listening 😂.
Svb is very good at processing information and he adapts very fast, as seen in this video. He is the one that signed up for this and he was clearly prepared. Maybe it's just that you're not capable of having someone suggest things while you're playing, which is understandable.
It’s nice to see Awkward coaching someone else just cause Awkward is so mechanically gifted, he can get away with stuff nobody else can. Obviously SVB is a great player but there are very few players that can do what Awkward does as smoothly as he does
i think the most frustrating thing about playing like this is the players like the hanzo not noticing all the impact and just spamming i need healing the whole game 🙃 but oh well
I watched your first match and listened. I never threw so many nades or sleep darts before. My best ana game ever. I even kept up with dps in damage. Judging when enough heals to do damage is gonna be a learning curve I feel though
Having SVB gameplay and having Awkward talk about real example in the game, Makes it easier to understand the basic concepts like angles and where to rotate. Very good video to watch and still watching
This is so interesting to watch! Will try everything I've seen here in my own games (low elo though). The spamming 'I need healing' is so distracting. DPS and Tank need to remember it's #supportnothealer
