Thank you for sharing your experience in China! To quote the recent remark by a Singapore professor, there is only one country in this world that likes to tell other countries what to do, so don't worry about China, it has been around thousands of years and you two have left your legacy there. All the best in Portugal. You and China may indeed cross paths in the future!

My impression is Yvonne initiated this change. She alluded that she has reached a ceiling in her career and that the megacities of China is too fast paced. She now covet a easier, slower life style; having one's own counytry cottage where she can plant a garden, take a break. Being adventurous, nomadic in your genes, I wonder how long this idealized wishful life would last in slow paced agrarian Portugal. This was my personal experience and for most early retirees. After 4 years, I am now back to an exciting, challenging, vigorous new aedventure in life. A break to recharge and renew is necessary. So good luck and best wishes.
@TripBitten
@TripBitten 2 месяца назад
We both want to move, so it was a joint decision. I will talk about it in the next video, but yes, we are looking for a slower pace. We both have the nomadic gene, it takes a lot to leave everything you know and start over in a new country and we are both doing it for a second time. So, maybe in 5 - 10 years we will be tired of Portugal, but growth is important and keeps one learning and experiencing new things. Thanks for the wishes.
@coyote1651

Hope you are making the right decision as I am in Australia and am finding western society is going crazy, more people going into poverty and just talk about war and spending the countries money on weapons😢
@TripBitten
@TripBitten 2 месяца назад
Yes, we hope so also.... It wasn't easy to make the decision to leave, but sometimes you need to change things to grow. Maybe, if we fail in Portugal, we might end up back in Asia. Anything is possible, which makes it more interesting.

A good, positive message and opinion is always nice to hear, and can be created from anywhere. Your message of harmony and connecting people, especially between China and the U.S. breaks down barriers, which is so badly needed in this day and age. Like Mr. Cyrus Janssen, you have lived in China and you are both trying to build bridges. All the best with your move to Portugal.

Take care and I wish you all the best and the best of luck when you leave China in July and living in Portugal. I will continue to check your content that you make and i am always be supporting and being your loyal fan. I agree with your statement on people who make online content about and a person who lives in China and anything that is on China, it is a BIG different to a person that knows nothing about china but tries to show that the person making the content really knows about China but actually knows nothing in reality and have also never been and lived in China and so tells people the racism etc about China to others. I have watched other youtubers that actually knows and lives in China etc (a person that have a super awesome gasph of the country), and be following what is being said about China online with the sources that is not just having any sort of info not be on what is the China that other people see so I have many sources and getting my info online. I also is a supporter and fans of online content and video creator who have the knowledge of what people knows and is finding out when they have actually lived here, and I see on the things that is being said about China and if that is what others see and is made by a person who is someone that is giving the info of China only with that of how people see and view etc (quite a lot of things I can be saying about people making content on China "not the ones who have zero knowledge" and the info coming out from these online content creators). And not surpirsed you mentioned Cyrus Jannsen, i really appreatie when people like you and Cyrus Jannsen tell people about China with what you see as a American who live in China.
@ChinaLover-sd2iz
@ChinaLover-sd2iz Месяц назад
I think as my recommendation and just as a tip that you can take from what I said here, is that you can tell people of other youtubers who has been to China and live there etc (anyone that just say things without knowing that it has no basis in it or something like that) and people who make online content that is being based and is on China. You can also do a collaboration with other youtubers that make content about China and someone who live in China and that youtuber you collaborated with can also be a American that lives and knows China (for RU-vidr who lives in China and makes news and knows China that you can collaborate with, is a New Zealander named Andy Boreham who's RU-vid channel is called Reports on China and is a youtuber that makes videos about China similar to what you are doing and more on news and anything that is seen by people online about China)

I agree. It is about where you think you can grow and be happy. That has been China for a long time, but now we are looking for something new and happy to be leaving China on good terms. Some times staying too long can make one bitter and hateful. We don't feel that way about China at all. We are grateful for our time here.

@@TripBitten Thanks for the love and response! Hopefully I have your attention for a moment: I'm an American, and older than you (in my mid 60's), and was kinda' "born" into what's now considered the Nomad "lifestyle". In 1969, my single mother decided to leave Los Angeles, and relocate herself - and her only child, me at 9 years old - and move to Recife Brazil. Lived there for a couple of years, then to Portugal, then to Kenya. Then back to the U.S. (I may have already shared this with you, I dunno, I'm old now 🤨) From that I have Brazilian and Portuguese citizenships. More importantly, from that experience, I am not afraid to live anywhere. So over the past 50 years I have visited 77 Countries and lived in a 4 of those for more than a year. But what I wanted to share with you is the cumulation of all of this. Two main things about life: 1.) There is no "perfect" Country, everyplace has its own set of issues. Thus, life is about _Trade-Offs,_ with respect to where one lives. What an *INDIVIDUAL* is willing to accept at any given time depending on the circumstances. Some things like marriage and children are very long term obligations, where Individuality transforms into *TEAM.* 2.) Life enjoyment & fulfillment is all about _Contrast._ None of us can live in Paradise, because no matter how great a Paradise is, we get accustomed to it. And include the old saying "you don't miss your water until your well runs dry:" How can one appreciate something if they have always had it? Or know to like or dislike it as they haven't experienced anything other? Most humans just kinda' survive where they are, based on how the Culture is, because they are 100% Immersed in it from birth. This is all they know, only seeing the "home" from the inside out. Conversely, visitors from another Culture see things (the "home") from the outside in - as well as the inside out. Experiencing life in 3D, vs. 2D. It's this _Difference or "Contrast"_ that allows for more enjoyment & fulfillment in life. The only other "Nomad" thing I would share is be prepared for Family situations. When one is young(er), and ones family, specifically ones Parents are healthy and still independent, one has a certain "freedom" to galivant around the planet if one chooses to. From 2009 to the Spring of 2020, we lived a "trifecta" life (Another Nomad Capitalist term). We purchased homes in Tangier Morocco and Johor Malaysia. Spending 2-3 Months/year in each based on our kids U.S. Academic calendar. This setup was "paradise" to me, as both locations were really used as a base of regional travel. But then the pandemic hit, we decided to sit it out in America. Then both my parents and my Wife's parents required help in their older age. Now we are somewhat "stuck". Both of my parents passed away during this time, the kids are grown and out of college, but my MIL needs care, and my wife has no intention of continuing our former Trifecta until further notice. Moreover, travel requires energy - and the older one is, the less energy one has. "Time waits for no Man or Woman". Keep all of this in mind as you and your wife continue to _Engineer_ your lives. I wish you both nothing but the best!

Thanks for the advice and story. Sounds like you have lived an interesting life and I agree with our points. No country is perfect and time waits for no one, which means live while you can if you have the health and financial means to do it. Hopefully, you can travel a bit more in the future, if you want that lifestyle again.

All the best Yvonne and Miguel. Lots of best wishes and luck in your new adventure and country. Lots of humans going through huge changes and challenges in their lives not only changing countries, relationships, and the way they view the world but on a higher spiritual level where humanity fits into the universe in this interesting point in time. Take care. Look after yourselves. A thousand years of blessings and love to you both. Jia You! xoxo

Yes, it is harder to get citizenship here because we are both foreigners. If you marry a Chinese person, it is a little easier but still difficult to get a green card. I'm hoping to get EU citizenship in 5 years.
